Located in the former Victoria Barracks area, the Asia Society has taken over the former Explosive Magazines A and B as its venue of events and exhibition. The whole area comes with a holistic approach to historical preservation, art, ecology and architecture. The Asia Society established its branch in Hong Kong in 1990. The current site for the Asia Society was opened in 2012. The site consists of a new building and four other heritage buildings, with a connecting bridge and a podium with art exhibitions. The Starr-Greenberg Building is now the administrative office for Asia Society. Former Magazine A is now the Chantal Miller Gallery and it is the venue for exhibitions. Former Magazine B is now the Miller Theater. Some of the original features of the magazine turned out to serve unintended benefits for the theater. Finally, the GG Block close to the entrance of Asia Society is now also the office space for administration. Award-winning U.S. architect Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects designed the complex with restoration, conservation and adaptation in mind. The entrance hall of Asia Society is lined with artificial marble from Iran, with patterns that echo the natural granite of Magazine A in the site. This is part of the effort to incorporate eco-friendly concepts in the site design. The Yasumoto Bridge is intended to be an ecological walkway, where pedestrians will enjoy bird viewing and their singsongs with the urban views of Hong Kong island on the side. On the hillside, the original fan palms there were preserved and new ones were planted to serve as a habitat for the short-nosed fruit bat. These fruit bats are seen at dusk. Of the many heritage sites at the Asia Society, I found the explosives track to be the most interesting. The history of the Former Explosives Magazines must be understood within the larger context of British strategic defense in this whole area of Admiralty. At one point in history, the Arsenal Yard was located at the seaside. Now this location is the Hong Kong Police Headquarters. Going north, the Arsenal Street used to be where the raw materials for ammunition and explosives were transported to the Victoria Barracks by the coolies. The workers must wear lint-free garment to avoid causing sparks when they transported the explosives. The Chen Yusheng Art Exhibition is currently being held at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center in Admiralty. The exhibition showcases various artworks by Chen Yusheng from different periods. The exhibition area is quite large, and the paintings by Mr. Chen Yusheng are extraordinary, full of creativity and uniqueness. It attracts art enthusiasts to come and appreciate, take photos, and create memories. It's a great place to visit.

To see the exhibition, we came to the Asia Society Hong Kong Center, located in the former Victoria Arms. Come out of "MTR Admiralty Station", walk through "Pacific Place", and walk up the ramp next to "Conrad Hong Kong Hotel" to reach your destination. Another historic site worth visiting is found in Hong Kong: the Victoria Barracks Arsenal (English: Explosives Magazine of the Victoria Barracks; now known as the Hong Kong Jockey Club Restored Arsenal), located in Admiralty, Hong Kong Island. The Arsenal is attached to Victoria Barracks. The four buildings were built between the 1860s and 1930s for the development and storage of explosives. After the British Garrison in Hong Kong moved out of the barracks in 1979, the old arsenal became a government workshop and warehouse. It was later revitalized and preserved by the Asia Society Hong Kong Chapter and converted into the new venue of the Asia Society Hong Kong Center in 2012. Highlight 1: The preserved track was originally used to transport gunpowder in the arsenal, which was transported to Arsenal Street in Admiralty via an overhead ropeway. Highlight 2: Arsenal A was transformed into an art exhibition hall. Highlight 3: The naval boundary stone in the arsenal bears witness to the long-term use of the facility by the British Royal Navy. Picture Rhythm Studios’ installation “Dream Art” consists of steel mesh that advances over time, showing how Hong Kong people with dreams draw inspiration from the endless coastline. The animation in the installation faithfully presents the emergence and removal of old and new signs on Hong Kong’s streets, reflecting the evolution of Hong Kong’s urban street advertising. Gugu Architecture and Fu Design have jointly created "Sicheng Si" to express that we should look at cities at different scales. The identical city buildings appear lifeless on the surface, but people's footprints and daily activities give life to the buildings. Combined with the symbol of adaptable green plants, it reflects the resilience of Hong Kong people and fully expresses the Hong Kong spirit. Finally, the “Progress” exhibition area gathers all voices, breaks through the boundaries of architecture, blends technology and creativity, focuses on imagining the modernization process of the city’s future, and thinks about how to forge the city’s resilience and carve out a new direction for human civilization from a seemingly obstructed future. KuoDao Architects and Dimension Plus have collaborated to create Mirror in Mirror, a work that combines installation display and artistic presentation. The former expresses that in an era of rapid development, the technology of transmitting information has gradually changed our lifestyle and social structure, with far-reaching impacts; the latter shows that media connects people and things, and connects virtual and reality. The Hong Kong urban landscape has been datafied and reshaped into multiple landscape dimensions, allowing the audience to reset and immerse themselves in it, and enjoy constantly shuttling through the ever-changing scenes of Hong Kong. The exhibition also has a "cross-media" theme. The curator specially invited three architects with multiple identities and a composer: Professor Zhong Hongliang (architect/university professor/literature lover), Chen Zhiheng (calligrapher), Lai Zhili (architect/aerial photographer) and composer Lin Feng to express architectural art in the form of literature, calligraphy, aerial photography and music.
