Asakusa is the traditional downtown area of Tokyo and home to many internationally-known sightseeing places: You can see "The Golden Poo" - a giant golden statue perched on top of Asahi Beer Hall. It looks comically like a shining dollop of poop, hence the nickname. It is believed that a golden poo brings luck in Japan. You can see Senso-ji Temple as well. It is one of Tokyo's most historical temples and is an absolute must-see. Look out for the impressive Kaminarimon Gate that marks the entrance-way to the temple, and weave your way down the stall-lined Nakamise-dori shopping street (a great place to get rice crackers and all sorts of souvenirs) to the Hözömon Gate and the main hall. I visited the Sensō-ji Temple, an ancient Buddhist temple. It is Tokyo's oldest temple (founded in 645 CE) and has a titanium-tiled roof. Though the temple was associated with the Tendai sect of Buddhism, it became independent after the Second World War. The temple is dedicated to Guanyin, the bodhisattva (a person on the path towards Buddhahood) of compassion. At the beginning of the Tokugawa shogunate, Tokugawa Ieyasu designated Sensō-ji as the protector of the Tokugawa clan. During World War II, the temple was bombed and destroyed during the March 10th air raid (a devastating and catastrophic firebomb air raid) on Tokyo. The temple was reconstructed and served as a symbol of rebirth and peace to the Japanese people. In the courtyard, a tree was hit by a bomb in the air raids; however, it has regrowned in the husk of the old tree and is a similar symbol to the temple itself. Adjacent to the temple, I saw the five-story pagoda, the Asakusa Shinto shrine, and shops with traditional Japanese goods. We went before COVID. Air Asia round trip ticket 8,000 baht including luggage weight and seat selection. Personally, I think it's very cheap. And direct flight to Tokyo. We went in December, booked 6 months in advance, and went with my two sisters (the hotel got 1,500 baht/night for 2 people, staying in Asakusa area, very close to tourist attractions and restaurants. Personally, I like this hotel very much. Traveling in Tokyo is easy. You can travel everywhere with just one ticket. There's some food. The people are very cute. And the city is very clean. The weather in Japan this time is considered good. 10-15 degrees is not very cold, but it's cold. 555 Personally, I like cold weather because Thailand is extremely hot. The only disadvantage is that my skin dries easily. But if you compare Thailand and Japan, I choose Japan because the weather is good in every way. It feels like a fairy tale or something. Asakusa, Tokyo. This is Edo Taiyaki Asakusa Main Store, a taiyaki shop located near the entrance to the Okuyama Omairimachi shopping street. They sell taiyaki and gelato. The taiyaki are simple, such as "Ogura (220 yen)" and "Custard (250 yen)". They also have unusual menu items such as "Strawberry (290 yen)", "Matcha (280 yen)", "Bacon and Egg (350 yen)", and "Char Siu (500 yen)". This time I ordered "Bacon and Egg". It was filled with fried egg and bacon, and you could add ketchup and mayonnaise to it as you like. The gelato is served in a form similar to soft serve ice cream. You can choose between a cup or a cone for 480 yen. There were about 12 types. It might be nice to have a unique taiyaki as a souvenir from your trip to Asakusa!
