[2024 Kyoto Stay] Travel Guide for Ala Hotel Kyoto (Updated Nov)
High CP Value New Hotel Near Kyoto Station: Ala Hotel Kyoto
Ala Hotel Kyoto is a very modern hotel that opened in 2022. It is about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. The design combines modern style with Japanese Zen, creating a comfortable and spacious environment with a unique and elegant atmosphere.
The hotel is larger than expected, with about 50 rooms on each floor, totaling ten floors. Half of the tenth floor is a hot spring bathhouse, and there is a restaurant and gym on the second floor. Each floor also features a dry landscape garden.
The hot spring is named "Natural Hot Spring Mikou no Yu," a beautiful name for a large pool. Both the men's and women's baths have indoor and outdoor sections, and you can catch a glimpse of the Kyoto Tower from certain angles through gaps in a louvered wall.
After soaking, your skin feels smooth, and there is a large landscaped rest area where you can watch sports games. Overall, the quality of the bathing experience is good, not on the same level as a business hotel.
The lobby of Ala hotel is an elongated L-shape, with wall reliefs of waves and LED-lit waterfall landscapes. The lounge area is specially partitioned off, adopting a modern classical style.
To be honest, the entire first-floor corridor is very spacious but somewhat underutilized. However, this also creates a comfortable and spacious atmosphere.
As for the price, if you book three months in advance and choose a non-refundable option, a standard double room without breakfast is $2000 per night. If you choose a room with a view of Kyoto Tower, it's only $4000, which is a great deal.
The rooms are about 6-7 ping in size, with a square layout, equipped with a double sofa and a large bathtub. What's special is the bathroom, which has the bathtub, washbasin, and toilet divided into three separate spaces. Usually, only five-star hotels with more than 10 ping have such a design. You can enjoy the view outside while soaking in the tub without the need for curtains!
Ala hotel's overall accommodation space and environmental quality are highly recommended. There is a barbecue restaurant right across the street, and the price is very reasonable if you book early. Even on weekends, you might be able to book at the weekday price of $2000. So I booked two more nights, and now the price has doubled to $4000!

Cleanest Onsen in Japan
Address: Ala Hotel Kyoto, Japan, 〒600-8212 Kyoto, Shimogyo Ward, Shiokojicho, 518
Price: 💰💰
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nestled in the heart of Kyoto station, Ala Hotel Kyoto offers a serene oasis amidst the bustling cityscape, with easy access to myriad tourist attractions and culinary delights.
Situated along a vibrant street adorned with delectable beef restaurants and adjacent to a 24-hour drug store boasting competitive prices on cosmetics and medications, the hotel's location promises both convenience and immersion in local culture.
A relatively new establishment, Ala Hotel Kyoto boasts one of the finest outdoor onsens I've encountered on my travels. Perched on the 10th floor, the onsen is accompanied by a tranquil zen lounge, ideal for unwinding post-soak or awaiting laundry completion. Though laundry services are complimentary, guests should note that detergent is not provided.
While complimentary snacks were notably absent, the expansive onsen facilities and serene ambiance compensated for the oversight. However, it's worth mentioning that the onsen's operating hours are relatively limited, closing at 11 pm nightly, with only two hair dryers available.
Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised by its spaciousness—ample enough to accommodate three luggage pieces comfortably. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the bathtub affording breathtaking views of the hotel's surroundings, perfect for soaking in the beauty of sunrise or sunset.
Complete with access to YouTube and Netflix, the room provided ample entertainment options. For a delightful treat, indulge in soft-serve ice cream from the cafe adjacent to the hotel—an ideal conclusion to a day of exploration.
The bed exuded comfort, while the addition of a sofa near the entrance provided a convenient spot to unwind without soiling the bedding with outdoor attire.
Overall, while Ala Hotel Kyoto may lack certain amenities, its spacious accommodations, strategic location, and reasonable pricing make it a standout choice for travelers seeking tranquility and convenience in equal measure.

Came across this amazing hotel while surfing for hotels in Kyoto. We notice this hotel is very new, hence concept and modern is definitely available in this beauty!
This hotel is strategically located just 5-10mins away from train station 😍 the surrounding is nice and clean, also feel safe even walking around late evening.
Psst! There are alot of convenience stores around, especially 7eleven just 100-200metre away only!

Good location
5 min walk to Kyoto station. Perfect location if you need to catch an early train. Many places to shop/eat at night. However, feels touristy and room is basic and small. Breakfast hour is short with too many ppl. Staff attitude is generally lukewarm and occasionally unpleasant.
I personally will not come back as there are many better options in Kyoto with better service/rooms.

Visiting bamboo forest in Japan.
Bamboo Forest, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove or Sagano Bamboo Forest, is a natural forest of bamboo in Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan. The forest consists mostly of mōsō bamboo (
there was no charge to access the forest.
The forest is not far from Tenryū-ji temple, which is the location of Rinzai School, and the famous Nonomiya Shrine. Near the forest, there is a beautiful river.#Kyoto #Bamboo #Japan

Luxury on a budget!
This stay was out of our expectations! The reviews were good but we didn’t expect it to be this great. Everything from the room size, breakfast and amenities were perfect for our family trip to Kyoto. It’s only a short 5 min walk from Kyoto Station.
Other notable call outs - 7 Eleven right outside the hotel and only 1 street away from Yodobashi Kyoto! Also, there are many eateries in the vicinity though we didn’t get to try any as we were mostly out in the day , highly recommended.
