Historic buildings
Attarina College, located in Fez, Morocco, is a historic Quranic college. Built in the 14th century by Sultan Abu Said of the Marin dynasty, this Quranic college interprets the essence of Islamic architecture with geometric aesthetics. The alabaster fountain in the center of the courtyard reflects the carved cedar dome, the walls are covered with mint green and cobalt blue Zeliji mosaics, and the vine-patterned plaster reliefs glow with pearlescent luster in the morning light. More than 700 student rooms on the second floor of the college are arranged like a honeycomb. Narrow stone steps lead to an observation deck surrounded by carved lattice windows, from which you can see the amber minaret of the Karawiyin Mosque. The scripture hall on the ground floor retains its original appearance from the 14th century. The mottled cypress pulpit is engraved with verses from the Quran, and the sunlight projects flowing light spots through the hollow copper lamps.
