Aksa means far away in Arabic, so it is also known as the far temple, which is mentioned in chapter 17 of the Qur'an. The worship hall is 90 meters long, 88 meters high and 36 meters wide, with 53 marble columns and 49 square columns. The Al-Aqsa Mosque, located in the southwest corner of the Sharif Inner Yard in the east of the Old City in the Eastern District of Jerusalem, is the third largest holy mosque in Islam. It is second only to the Holy Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina.
