Acropolis Athens 🗺️
#timetotravel
My visit to the Acropolis of Athens was a pilgrimage into history and marvel. Perched above the city, this iconic site with its monumental ruins and timeless architecture was a humbling experience. Standing before the Parthenon, I could almost feel the echoes of ancient Athenian life. The Erechtheion's Caryatids exuded grace, while the Propylaea's grand entrance marked the gateway to antiquity. The sweeping views of Athens below were breathtaking, revealing a city that has evolved through the ages. The Acropolis' central location and its usually extended visiting hours allowed me to immerse myself in its stories both day and night. The Acropolis of Athens isn't just an archaeological site; it's a testament to human achievement, artistry, and the enduring legacy of ancient Greece.
And The Surroundings Slopes
The Acropolis of Athens is not only the most important and visited monument in Greece but also one of the greatest achievements in European culture. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
It is situated at a limestone hill around 156 meters, and is visible from almost every part of Athens. It is around 200 meters 3 minutes walk from Acropoli metro station and is open daily from 0800-2000 during April to October.
The theater of Dionysus is an ancient Greek theatre built on the south slope of the Acropolis hill around the 4th to 5th century BC.
Although the most famous building on the Acropolis is the Parthenon, there are many other buildings, like the Propylaea, the Erectheion and the temple of Athena Nike. The Acropolis was entirely made of the finest Pentelic marble and by the best craftsmen of the era.

Rocky Hill of Acropolis #Acropolis
The term “acropolis” means “high city” in Greek and can refer to one of many natural strongholds constructed on rocky, elevated ground in Greece, but the Acropolis of Athens is the best known.
Made of limestone rock that dates to the Late Cretaceous period when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, the Acropolis is located on the Attica plateau of Greece and includes four hills:

Acropolis of Athens
The Acropolis of Athens is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildinhs of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. The word Acropolis is from the Greek words ἄκρον (akron, "highest point, extremity") and πόλις (polis, "city"). The term acropolis is generic and there are many other acropoleis in Greece During ancient times the Acropolis of Athens was known also more properly as Cecropia, after the legendary serpent-man, Cecrops, the supposed first Athenian king.
It will be a long hike to the top and also around the Acropolis. Do wear comfortable shoes.

Visiting the Acropolis
#createwithtrip #historywalk
When in Athens, a visit to the Acropolis is a must. It is the most striking and complete ancient Greek monumental complex still existing in our times. We noticed that the buildings in this capital of Greece are not very high (most have a maximum of only 6 floors) and soon realised that is to ensure the Acropolis can be spotted easily from anywhere and everywhere in the city. Climbing to the Parthenon at the top of the ruins, we also managed a panoramic view of the capital city from our vantage point.

While you stroll through Athens, you will meet modernity, combined with Greek culture and fun-loving people in a pulsating but at the same time relaxed society that characterizes this country. If you look a little higher, over the horizon, you will discover a place that was truly created for the gods - the Acropolis. Once there, you should leave the bustling city behind you for a few hours to immerse yourself in an exciting story. In my article I will tell you what to expect when you visit this fascinating building, the symbol of Athens.
Acropolis - not only in Athens
Did you know that the name Acropolis is just a generic term and that there are several of these buildings? If you shake your head now, it doesn't matter, because most of them only think of the Acropolis in Athens.
Acropolis in the original sense means something like castle hill, which once served as a fortification. For strategic reasons, this facility - as can be seen almost everywhere in the world - was built on the city hills, after all, from there you have the best view. On enemies, not on the landscape. We enjoy that today. An acropolis is like a citadel, also a fortress on the heights of a city, whereby the acropolis has developed more and more into a cultural site over time.
Today, however, everything revolves around the famous landmark of the Greek capital, because numerous tourists make pilgrimages to the hill that characterizes the cityscape. For this reason, I also set out to take a closer look at the Place of the Gods, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986.

What are you coming to Athens for? It must be one of the most similar answers. For the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the birthplace of ancient Greece, Atlantis are the only things comes in mind. It seems to be a kind of faith, so that everyone who has never been to look forward to it, so that everyone who has come here it is hard to forget. When I have been here in life it was a long time back, I am convinced that when I will arrive at this land one day and realize it, I will find that my heart is not excited, only calm, and smiling. Because the picture is too familiar, the weather is too good, every stone, every statue has its story, the scenes from the movies appear in front of the eyes, and the truth is somewhat across time and space.
The Greek monuments that can be seen in the centre of Athens are the Acropolis, dating back to 580 BC, all built with white marble, originally the temple of Athena and later the fortress of the city. Although there is only one mountain gate, several remaining temples and numerous stone pillars, it is still a world-renowned world cultural heritage.

city information: and friends from France all the way east, lasted more than a month to Athens, Greece. Before going to Athens, the impression of Athens was a very romantic and comfortable Mediterranean climate. In fact, after the arrival, the entire city is a Gypsy (black skin), when the robbery occurs, and when you stare at you, it is particularly fierce, so the friends who travel to Athens must pay attention to property and personal safety. Oh, try not to be close to the Gypsies, far from them, don't go alone.

Athens is one of the oldest cities in Europe and even the whole world, and its history dates back more than 3,000 years. Athens is also the birthplace of European philosophy and has had a major impact on Europe and world culture. A large number of historical greats such as Socrates and Plato were born, and they were called the origin of democracy. Athens still retains many historical sites and a large number of works of art, the most famous of which is the Parthenon of the Acropolis, which is considered a symbol of Western culture.
Going to Athens must first hit a wave of the Acropolis, the most representative building in Greece, from the famous Dionysus Theatre, Herod Atticus Theatre, Parthenon Temple and so on. In fact, I also met from Saint Seiya! Although there are only a few broken Roman columns and broken walls, it is still the unique charm of Athens to the high point.
After the restoration of the Herod Atticus Theater in the Acropolis, various performances are often held here.
Acropolis is a quick stroll, and when you are young, you can walk around in 1 or 2 hours. But the Acropolis has no cover, it is very dry, remember sunscreen and hydration. And Shizi Road is not very good to go, it is best to wear sports shoes.
The mountains of Olympus blocked the cold wind from the north, and the
Aegean Sea gave the city an infinite gentleness.
In the early morning, the clear and sparkling sunshine like olive oil made the city The photo shows different light and color,
This is the origin of European civilization, this is the city of the gods of Athens.
The city is not lacking a warrior, not to mention the thinker. The debates of the Athenian school seem to be reminiscent of the city, Western philosophy, democracy, the Olympics, the Iliad, and the Homer Epic. Every noun affects the process of human thought.
The reconstructed Acropolis is faintly visible in the past, it is the soul of the city, and it tells the thickness of Athens in a calm and calm posture. The waiting sunrise is swallowed up by the thick clouds, and there is no more time to remember.
5th century BC, Athens, which defeated the Persians, ushered in the most prosperous period of development. In order to establish a faith in the city-state, in order to thank the patron saint Athena for its blessing, the 500-member council of the Athens city-state began to hire Feidi. Yass designed and built the Acropolis.
The most magnificent building in the Acropolis is the Parthenon, don't be confused by the name, this has nothing to do with the god of the gods, this temple belongs to Athena, the name comes from Athena's nickname Parthenon, built It has been in use for fourteen years and has been converted into a Christian church in history. After the Ottoman Empire occupied Athens in 1456, the temple was converted into a mosque. In 1687, the Venetians repelled the Turks on the Acropolis. The entire temple was blown up with shells, and some of the surviving statues were taken to the British Museum by some British businessmen.

Visiting Greece, the first stop is definitely Athens.
As one of the oldest cities in Europe and even the whole world, Athens has a history of over three thousand years and is known as the 'cradle of Western civilization'.
Most of Athens' well-known ancient sites are within the city area and can be visited on foot. Among them, the most famous is what 'National Geographic' magazine described as 'a place of rest for the spirit and ideals of every traveler in this mortal world'—the Acropolis of Athens.
Walking towards the Acropolis on the hill, you will pass by ancient ruins all the way. Today's Acropolis, although incomplete, still has three temples with their frameworks relatively intact: the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion. The rest are just the remains of their foundations.
At the easternmost part of the Acropolis, there is an observatory where you can overlook the entire city of Athens. The land now densely covered with houses once nurtured the greatest civilization in Europe.
