Pak Chong City (Pak Chong) is a city located in the northeast of Champasak Province, 50 kilometers from the provincial municipality. It borders the following provinces and cities: Lao Ngam City, Salavan Province to the north and Ta Taeng City, Sekong Province to the south; Sanam Chai City and Samakkhi Chai City, Attapeu Province to the east; Lamam City, Sekong Province and Xaysetha City, Attapeu Province to the west; Ba Jiang Charoen Suk City and Pathumporn City, Champasak Province.
The area of Pak Chong City is in the mountainous area. The lowest point is 600 meters above sea level and the highest point is about 1,400 meters. The city area is mostly flat, spreading from north to south, along the banks of Huai Champi, Nong Hin, Thung Set, Huai Nam Sai, and to Ta Taeng City, Sekong Province. The east of the city, except for Phu Fai Mai, which is a protected forest, is an agricultural area, mostly growing rice and coffee. The hilly area is spreading to the northeast. The area adjacent to Lamam and Xaysetha is mostly an area of aluminum mining concessions and industrial plantations.
