2024 Oslo Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Recently ranked the world’s most expensive city to live in, Oslo is a relatively tropical paradise among Scandinavian cities. Thanks to the Gulf Stream, the climate is generally pleasant in summer and the winters are a far cry from some of the blisteringly frigid, sub-freezing environments of her neighboring cities. With a population of just under one million including the surrounding area, Oslo is a vibrant city that has grown over the centuries into a unique and interesting culture. Dating back someone thousand years, this capital of Norway has an exceptional harbor that makes visiting via boat an enjoyable and easily scheduled way of travel. In addition to Oslo’s many museums and various parks, outdoor galleries (like the popular Vigeland Sculpture Park) make viewing the numerous examples of this rich culture very easy. Shopping, great food, and a lively nightlife are also waiting until you if you are up to it. Good quality budget food can be discovered in Torggata, and offers both local and international favorites. The surrounding countryside makes a great place for cold-weather sports like skiing and snowboarding, and the locals are tolerant of less than perfect novices.

Spending autumn in Oslo was magical 🌲
#autumnbeauty
Spending autumn in Oslo was absolutely magical 🍂! The city felt like it was painted in shades of orange, red, and gold, with leaves carpeting the streets. I loved strolling through Vigeland Park, where the statues looked even more stunning against the autumn backdrop. The fresh air and peaceful vibe made it the perfect place to relax. Oslo’s waterfront at Aker Brygge was also a great spot to enjoy a coffee and admire the Oslofjord as the sun set early in the evening.
Entrance to most outdoor attractions is free, and the city has such a relaxed pace during autumn. I visited the Viking Ship Museum, which had a modest entry fee (about 120 NOK), but totally worth it for the fascinating history. Near Oslo, the Holmenkollen Ski Museum offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city surrounded by autumn colors.

It was an impressive first experience with snow. Environment/Facilities: Oslo is quiet, peaceful, and clean. The people are not chaotic. 💞Reason for recommendation: If you have the chance, I highly recommend visiting at least once. Oslo, the capital of Norway
Oslo was founded under the name of Ansloh in 1040 at the end of the Viking Age. In 1048, Harald Hardrada established a seaport city or trading place. In 1070, it was promoted to a bishopric and became a bishopric in 1070. Around 1300 it became the capital of King Haakon V of Norway.
From 1397 to 1523, and from 1536 to 1814, personal alliances with Denmark weakened its urban influence. In 1624, after King Christian IV was destroyed by a fire during his reign, a new city was built near Akershus Fortress (lower right corner of Figure 2) and named Christiania. in memory of this king.
This medieval fortress has become one of Oslo's main tourist attractions today.
On January 1, 1838, it became a town. During the union of Sweden and Norway in 1814-1905, Oslo functioned as the capital of Norway. From 1877, Oslo's name was spelled Kristiania in government use, a spelling adopted by municipal authorities in 1897. In 1925, it was renamed Oslo after merging villages that retained their original names. In 1948 Oslo merged with the city of Aker, which surrounded the capital and was 27 times the size of Oslo, forming the modern, larger city of Oslo. #Overseas travel #Norway travel #Norway travel #Norwegian scenery #Norway attractions #我好看Norway #norway
