2024 Nyima Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in December)
Today's Weather
Cloudy -13-1℃
Ali is really amazing! An epic autumn scene is about to be presented.
When the barley fields are covered with golden waves, Ali enters the most charming season of the year. The autumn in Ali can fulfill all your expectations for beautiful scenery.
The towering snow-capped mountains are no longer mysterious, and the world is clear and far-reaching. Golden meadows, gentle sunsets, free-running wild animals, and increasingly deep blue holy lakes together create beautiful autumn scrolls.
The end of September to October each year is the best time to travel to Ali. At this time, it avoids the rainy season in summer and the severe cold in winter. The temperature is relatively suitable, the sky is blue with few clouds, and it is easy to see the sunrise and the starry sky. It is the best time when the autumn is the strongest, don't miss it.
About altitude and altitude sickness: 80% of the Ali route is above 4,000 meters above sea level, so pay attention to altitude sickness. You can go to Lhasa to adapt before going, avoid strenuous exercise, maintain a good mentality, and carry glucose, oxygen, etc.
The beautiful scenery not to be missed includes:
• Gang Rinpoche: the sacred mountain in the hearts of many pilgrims.
• Qudeng Nima: Known as the "end of the world", it is the ultimate glacier in Tibet.
• Tree of the Earth: A natural tree spectacle formed by flowing water.
• Guge Dynasty: A mysterious dynasty connected to the sky
• Zada Earth Forest: The earth forest is scattered and has thousands of postures.
• Zhuomulaji: The seventh peak of the Himalayas.
• Ama Zhimi: A little-known snow-capped mountain.
• Dark Night Park: One of the four major dark night parks in the world.
• Wenbunan Village: A secluded village next to Dangreyong Co.
• Yicuozaicuo: A series of blue lakes on the Ali line, each of which is amazing.

Purog Kangri Glacier, the third largest glacier in the world
Purog Kangri Glacier is located in Shuanghu County, Nagqu City, Tibet Autonomous Region, within the core area of the Qiangtang National Nature Reserve. Its altitude ranges from 6000 meters to 6800 meters, covering an area of over 400 square kilometers, making it the largest glacier in the mid-low latitudes in the world. The Purog Kangri Icefield was first discovered by Chinese and American scientists in 1999 and was confirmed to be the largest glacier outside the Antarctic and Arctic. Due to global warming, the Purog Kangri Icefield is in a state of retreat. Research shows that the area of the Purog Kangri Icefield was over 420 square kilometers in 2000, but by 2021, it had shrunk to about 389 square kilometers.
Tibetan antelope mother and child on the Lhunzhub Tang grassland
Recently, newly born Tibetan antelope calves have been photographed multiple times on the Lhunzhub Tang grassland in Maiba Township, Shenzha County, Nagqu City, within the Qiangtang National Nature Reserve in Tibet. It is understood that the annual calving season for the Tibetan antelope has begun. The Tibetan antelope is a national first-class protected animal. Currently, there are more than 300,000 Tibetan antelopes living on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with over 200,000 residing in the Qiangtang National Nature Reserve in northern Tibet.

How many wild animals are there in Qiangtang, Tibet?
Qiangtang National Nature Reserve is located in the northern part of the Tibet Autonomous Region, where snow-capped mountains and glaciers undulate, and wild animals roam freely, earning it the reputation of a 'paradise for wild animals.'
Come count sheep! Encountering the Tibetan antelope breeding migration in Qiangtang
In mid-May, in the Qiangtang National Nature Reserve located in the northern part of the Tibet Autonomous Region, large groups of pregnant female Tibetan antelopes begin to assemble and migrate to their customary birthing grounds. The Qiangtang grassland is located in the northern part of Tibet, with most areas still in their pristine state. It preserves a complete and unique alpine ecosystem, nurturing a treasure trove of biodiversity with a wide variety of wildlife. In addition to the Tibetan antelope, wild yaks, and kiangs, the area is also home to snow leopards, black-necked cranes, wolves, vultures, brown bears, and other wildlife, including 10 species under first-class national protection and 21 species under second-class national protection.
Dangre Yongcuo | The lake also has a "dopamine outfit"
The lake also has a "dopamine outfit". Dangre Yongcuo is the fourth largest lake in Tibet, running from north to south, surrounded by mountains on three sides. It once nurtured the ancient Xiangxiong civilization and is regarded as a sacred place by the followers of the oldest Bon religion in Tibet. Every year, many believers come here to circumambulate the lake.
Due to the weather, I didn't stay at Dangre Yongcuo for a long time, but in a short time, I was full of curiosity about this lake.
The color of the lake is not a single blue, but also pink and yellow. The three colors appear on the lake at the same time, which looks beautiful and fresh, and makes people feel incredible. I am curious about how pink and yellow are produced and how they are integrated with each other.
When I was doubtful, a flock of sheep broke into the lens. Although I have encountered flocks of sheep many times, their lively and cute appearance still makes people can't help but press the shutter a few more times.
📍Location: Nima County, Naqu City, Tibet
💰Ticket: Free
🚗How to get there: You need to drive/charter a car to get there, navigate to "Dangre Yongcuo". The shooting location of the photo is at the intersection of S205 and the small road to Wenbunan Village. If you want to go to Wenbunan Village from here, it is recommended to choose a four-wheel drive vehicle, non-paved dirt road, easy to trap the car

2023-10-05 Had a Tibetan breakfast and then went to Dangre Yongcuo. The weather was very good, the sun was shining, and the temperature was a bit low, probably around zero degrees. First passed Dangre Yongcuo and then arrived at Dangqiong Cuo. Dangqiong Cuo is super beautiful and there are rare black-necked cranes.
In the afternoon, we arrived at Dangre Yongcuo. Dangre Yongcuo is the deepest lake in Tibet. It seems to be embraced by half of the snow mountain. We walked along the 302 provincial road and passed several lakes such as Nanmu Cuo. In fact, all of them are along the Ali middle line. Around 7:30 we arrived at Coqen County. We looked for a camping spot along the way, but we couldn't find one. It was already very dark, so we slept in the car for the night.
Have you heard of the world's highest holy lake monster? In September 2016, when staying at Wenbu Lake, local Tibetans reminded me not to go out at night or to go to the lake. At that time, I did not notice the meaning of the phrase "Don't go to the lake."
Afterwards, I realized that the original Wenbu Lake had rumors of water monsters since the 1950s, and some Tibetans claimed to have witnessed it. According to the description, it is considered to be a paleontology reptile such as the plesiosaur.
