Noboribetsu Onsen is about an hour by train from New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido. The Hell Valley tour in Noboribetsu is grand in scale and has a different charm compared to Beppu Onsen! It's a strange sight to see water flowing like a river, but it's all hot spring water. Well, the tourist spots were great, but that's not why I fell in love with Noboribetsu! It's not just Noboribetsu, but the food in Hokkaido is delicious! The guesthouse I stayed at in Noboribetsu had a friendly owner, was close to the station, had cooking facilities, and there was a nearby co-op with super delicious and cheap seafood. I fell in love with the everyday life packed with such experiences in Noboribetsu. It's these special encounters that make me love traveling.

I traveled with my college aged son to this hot spring town and stayed at this hotel which is located next to the bus depot. you can walk to the hell's valley or take a shuttle from bus depot. We also love the buffet dinner which offered a variety of food, including sushi, sashimi, desserts, ice-cream, etc. The room was comfortable and the stuff made the tatami when we went for dinner. Enjoyed the stay very much. The onsen experience was decent and well equipped, the pools were big and the outdoor one was good. The breakfast and dinner buffet spread was a lot, quality was #瑞生尖沙咀酒店

The first impression of Noboribetsu is the hot springs. I didn't expect there to be a seafood restaurant here. It's called "Hot Spring Market". I thought it was a hot spring area and a shopping market, but I didn't expect it was for seafood. At the hot spring market, there is no need to queue up. There are fresh seafood in it, and you can specially order it. The location inside the store is wide, and many celebrities have eaten here and left their names. At the fresh seafood stall, if you see fresh oysters, place an order immediately. The oysters provided at the "Onsen Market" are grown in Akkeshi, Hokkaido, and have been sterilized, so they can be eaten raw without any worries. This time I chose to use steamed ones, and the cooking method was just right to maintain the original flavor. In addition to steaming, it can also be fried, and the taste is completely different. We too JR train at 4.06pm from Sapporo to continue our journey to Hell Valley on 26th Dec 2022. There is a bus service in between Hell Valley and Noboribetsu JR Stn which takes around 20mins. Checked-in Takimoto Inn Hotel. It cost us around SGD150 per night. The main purpose to book this hotel is to enjoy their onsen both indoor and outdoor. There is an additional 300 yen fee for using their onsen. It was a unique experience in taking onsen. ☺️And yes, it was really relaxing. This is a quiet town and there is a few souvenir shops and restaurants that still open until 8pm. The next day, we walked around Hell Valley and enjoyed the last onsen in the hotel. Breakfast at Mahoroba was a nostalgic tourist hotel breakfast buffet. Sausages, onsen eggs, fruit, light cake, ochazuke and porridge! And bread. The kids took advantage of the opportunity to eat fruit, and mom put lots of mustard on her bacon, and of course we couldn't forget the onsen eggs. So we ate two. Getting There - Bought a Noboribetsu Area pass and just take a JR train there. There’s direct bus to take you there from the station. Quite a breathtaking sight at Jigokudani and I feel like it’s a must to visit when you’re in Hokkaido. However, please take note that it’s quite dangerous to visit during winter as the slopes are slippery. Do not recommend to bring along elderly during winter. #2023Travel wish If you like marine life, don’t miss this attraction. Its features are as follows: 1) The castle at the main entrance has a Nordic style, and inside is an aquarium, displaying different types of marine life. 2) There are penguins parading in the outdoor space in front of the door. You can see them walking left and right, which is very cute and interesting. 3) There is a transparent circular water tank for seals to swim through in a streamlined manner and greet tourists. We came to the Oyunuma Natural Foot Bath after walking through some of the trails in Jigokudani (Hell’s Valley). The foot bath came about from the overflow of hot spring water from Oyunuma Pond. The 40 degrees warm water was a welcome respite on our tired feet after a long morning of walking. Best part, it’s free! They provide some mats for people to sit on as the platform is wet, so put them back after use. Also, do remember to pack a towel if you plan to visit here. We forgot and had to let our feet dry off in the cold before continuing on. It was amazing to have experienced this relaxing onsen foot spa while soaking up the atmosphere of the forest. Definately worth a visit! #spamagic
