Hulunbuir Grassland 6-Day Budget and Effort-Saving Travel Guide
Tourist Check-in Guide:
⏰Best Travel Season
Grass starts to grow from late May🌱, and by mid to late June, the grass is fully grown🍀❗ If you can travel in June, do so, as there are fewer people and it's cheaper. In July and August, not only do prices rise, but there are also more people. In September, you can enjoy the golden grassland🍁 and the colorful Greater Khingan Mountains🌲
……
🛬About Transportation
✅During the Hulunbuir travel season, most cities will have direct flights to Hailar Dongshan Airport (💰prices are slightly higher). You can also choose to transfer in Beijing, Hohhot, etc. Hulunbuir does not yet have high-speed rail🚄, so if you take a train🚂 to Hailar Station, it will take a long time⌚. Recommendation: First fly to Harbin, then take a train🚞 to Hailar. Generally, you will arrive in Hailar at around 6-7 AM. After breakfast🥣, you can set off for the grassland.
✅Hulunbuir is vast, and the attractions are far apart, so you must drive yourself or hire a car❗ Reminder: When choosing a car rental, be sure to carefully check the itinerary and choose a pure play one. Don't be tempted by cheap prices, as you might end up being taken to 🛒shopping places, which can be quite disappointing❗

Emergency Notice: Do not go to Hulunbuir in June and July
"We go to the lakeside of the grassland waiting for the birds to return"🌿
I had never seen the summer of Hulunbuir until I experienced the romance of 'the wind blows the grass low and reveals the sheep and cattle'🐏, and then I realized its charm.
✔️Opening the car door is like stepping into a computer desktop
✔️Cattle, horses, and sheep can be seen scattered between heaven and earth
✔️Entering the border town of China and Russia, a niche and fairy-tale place🪆
...
However, the most lethal thing is not the beautiful photos, but the vitality I released while running on the grassland😭
I am very fortunate to have finally fulfilled my dream of Hulunbuir, and this dreamy grassland has also become 'my Altai'🌲

My Moments have been bombarded with questions, everyone thinks I've gone abroad!!
The sky is vast, the fields are boundless
The wind blows low across the grass, revealing cows and sheep🐮🐏
Blue skies, white clouds☁️, green grass like a carpet☘️
Fields of rapeseed flowers as far as the eye can see🌸
This summer🍉
I should definitely take my parents to Inner Mongolia⛺️
👇Life experience:
🌞Learn horse riding, cross the grasslands, visit herders, milk cows, feed lambs, take photos in Mongolian attire, ride a grassland cart
🌞Taste dairy products from the grasslands, archery, kite flying, football, grass sliding
🌞The sun is strong at noon on the grassland, please bring sun protection and mosquito repellent
🌞Bring a long-sleeved jacket and long pants to keep warm and protect exposed skin
🌞Please respect local beliefs! Protect the ecosystem, do not climb oboos at will, or feed wild animals
👇Food recommendations:
Roast lamb leg, hand-grabbed meat, Huazi fish, grassland white mushrooms, braised noodles, milk tofu, meat sausages, blood sausages, roast lamb skewers, beef jerky, dried milk skins, Mongolian milk tea. If there are many people, you can also experience roasting a whole sheep and enjoy the happiness of the herders~
👇Travel Tips:
1️⃣The temperature difference between day and night in early summer in Hulunbuir is large, remember to prepare a jacket like a windbreaker to prevent catching a cold
2️⃣The most feared thing when going out is heatstroke, colds, and headaches, so I always carry Huoxiang Zhengqi pills in my bag, which are obviously effective
3️⃣You must take the crossing line at the Moergel River, but it's difficult to travel and easy to get stuck, so it's safer to charter a car
👇Transportation in Hulunbuir:
✈️Hailar Dongshan Airport: Fly directly to Hailar, or transfer through Hohhot/Harbin.
✈️Xingmanzhouli West Suburb Airport: You can fly directly, but tickets are relatively hard to get, so it's better to determine the time in advance for good tickets.
✈️Arxan Yiershi Airport: Flights are few, generally after mid-August, you can fly to Arxan to see the autumn scenery.
🚄Hailar Railway Station: You can take a direct train from Harbin to experience the green trains
🚗Transportation between regions in Hulunbuir: During the peak tourist season in July-August, there are buses from Hailar Passenger Transport Station to Manzhouli, Genhe, Ergun, etc., but they do not stop along the way, and there are many scenic spots along the way. Locals suggest that the most convenient way to travel is to join a local tour group or charter a car.
Inner Mongolia is vast with sparse population, the attractions are far apart, and the terrain is diverse❌Do not choose to drive yourself if you have no experience, it will definitely be tiring and troublesome, and you won't have fun😭It's recommended to join a small group tour, with a well-arranged itinerary, to make your trip memorable✨
This summer, Inner Mongolia awaits you

A Comprehensive Guide to Taking Kids to Hulunbuir During Summer Vacation
Get up close and personal with nature
🎉🎉Just back from Hulunbuir, where the blue sky, white clouds, and green grasslands create a picturesque scene with cattle and sheep grazing as the wind blows. July and August are the most beautiful months for the grasslands. For a summer vacation with kids, Hulunbuir is definitely an ideal destination! 🎉🎉
🚗🚗About the way to travel: Generally, it involves chartered cars, self-driving, or joining a tour group. For first-timers, I recommend hiring a local guide with a car. There are several reasons: many places on the grassland have no signal, and only local drivers know the way; compared to the fixed schedule of bus tours, chartered cars offer more freedom for kids, stop whenever you want, and do whatever you want to do.

I thought the beauty of Western Sichuan was unparalleled, until I visited Hulunbuir
🍃Endless grasslands, blue skies with white clouds, and herds of cattle and sheep, it's like a fairy tale world from a Miyazaki movie! People should stay in places without ceilings~ Summer is the most beautiful season on the Hulunbuir grasslands. This year, I went to the Hulunbuir grasslands again before the busy season in June, thanks to the local guides, who showed me a different Hulunbuir~

Sun Protection: The UV rays on the grassland are strong, so be sure to protect and moisturize your skin.

Food: Roasted whole lamb, Northeastern stew, lamb chops, hot pot, hand-grabbed meat, milk tofu, milk tea... Don't miss out on the specialty foods! The portions are quite large!
Transportation: It is recommended to hire a car for a free and comfortable journey. Find reliable locals to guide you, and you'll see many different beautiful scenes, with fewer people and more beauty, for a full experience!
Milk: Drink local fresh milk in moderation, as it is not skimmed and drinking too much may upset your stomach.
When horse riding, be sure to go to a regular horse farm for safety first, don't be tempted by cheap roadside offers; drones are not allowed to fly and take pictures along the border line.

🔥Hulunbuir Delicacies
🌟 Whole Roasted Lamb: A centuries-old Inner Mongolian traditional delicacy, historically served to honor distinguished guests from afar.
🌟 Hand-grabbed Meat: Made from mutton, named for the large chunks of meat that are torn by hand when eating, it has a distinctive ethnic flavor and is deliciously rich.
🌟 Grilled Beef and Mutton Skewers: The meat is firm and flavorful, and Inner Mongolian mutton does not have a gamey taste, just grill and flaunt it.
🌟 Inner Mongolian Milk Tea: Made by boiling milk tea with ingredients like beefsteak, minced meat, cheese, and dried meat, all simmered together.
🏞 Accommodation Guide
⭕️ Hailar Accommodation
If you are traveling independently, it is recommended to stay near the Hailar train station. This makes travel convenient, as it is easy and inexpensive to take a taxi within the city.
⭕️ Manzhouli Accommodation
Hotels in the Manzhouli city area are a bit old. The Matryoshka Hotel is not really recommended during the peak tourist season, as it's too expensive and not cost-effective. It is suggested to choose a Russian-style hotel for a good experience at a reasonable price.
⭕️ Heishantou Accommodation
Heishantou is mainly Mongolian yurts. When booking, make sure to compare prices, as they can vary greatly. Definitely book in advance during the peak season.
⭕️ Shiwei Accommodation
Shiwei accommodations are typically wooden houses, with generally basic conditions but quite characteristic.
✈️ Transportation Guide
① Hailar Dongshan Airport: 13 kilometers from the city center, a 10-minute airport shuttle ride will get you to the city, and it departs as soon as it's full, which is very convenient.
② Manzhouli West Suburb Airport: Manzhouli Airport does not have an airport shuttle, and taxis generally do not use meters. The one-way fare between the airport and the city center ranges from 30 to 50 yuan.
③ Hailar Railway Station: You can choose to first take a train or plane to Harbin or Beijing, and then from Beijing or Harbin take a train to Hailar.

Inner Mongolia | Gan Zhu Temple, with a plaque inscribed by Emperor Qianlong himself.
❤Why we love it:
Gan Zhu Temple was built in 1773 with funds from the imperial court. The temple was named by Emperor Qianlong, who personally wrote the plaque for "Shou Ning Temple". The temple was expanded during the Qing Dynasty and became the largest lama temple in Hulunbuir. It is famous for the plaque written by Emperor Qianlong.
🌟Highlights:
The temple is home to five versions of the "Gan Zhu Sutra", and has been known as Gan Zhu Temple since it was built. Few people call it Shou Ning Temple.
👍What we recommend:
The temple's architectural style combines elements from the Central Plains, Tibet, and Mongolia.
The temple has 11 halls. The main axis includes Que Yi La Hall, Zhan Ba Hall, Sang Ji De Mo Luo Mu Hall, and Suo Ke Qin Hall.
Suo Ke Qin Hall, the last hall on the main axis, has a plaque inscribed with "Shou Ning Temple" by Emperor Qianlong himself.

Border Card Line: Stunning Colors That Leave You Speechless|A Must-Visit for Autumn in Hulunbuir
hello, everyone, I am Million Classmate~
The Hulunbuir Border Card Line usually refers to the road starting from Manzhouli, along the Sino-Russian border river Erguna River, all the way to Shiwei, covering nearly 210 kilometers. The route traverses various landscapes such as grasslands, hills, rivers, wetlands, and forests, making it an excellent route to explore Hulunbuir.
⚠️ Especially in autumn, this place is truly a 'spilled palette,' with colors so vibrant that they leave you speechless❗️❗️ A life suggestion is to definitely come here to appreciate the autumn scenery at least once.

---------------------
Scenery Along the Way:
Erguna Wetland Protection Area
Located about 30 kilometers west of Manzhouli, this is one of the sources of the Erguna River and is rich in wildlife resources.
Five Card, Seven Card
Each 'card' along the border card line has its unique features. From One Card to Nine Card, each post has its unique scenery and historical background. Among the many posts, Five Card and Seven Card are considered the most beautiful parts❗️❗️ Additionally, the birch forest in the Seven Card area is also a major feature, making it a great spot for photography.
186 Ribbon River
Attracts many tourists with its winding river and vast wetland landscape, but it is not recommended to enter the scenic area as the scenery is the same unless you want to experience activities like grass skiing.
Heishantou Town
Not only an important historical and cultural site but also an excellent place to watch the sunset.
In addition to natural scenery, the route also passes through several villages and towns with rich ethnic characteristics, such as Enhe Russian Ethnic Township, which retains many traditional wooden houses and Russian customs. Shiwei Town is one of China's top ten charming villages and towns, where history and modern civilization intertwine, putting a perfect end to the scenery along the way.
⚠️⚠️ Regarding accommodation, it is not highly recommended to stay in Enhe and Shiwei as they are quite commercialized. For those who are more adventurous, it is recommended to set off early in the morning, pass through the Card Line, Genbai Road, and Bailu Road, and arrive at Qiqian Village by dusk. This village is a small village in the hinterland of the Sino-Russian border, located by the Erguna River, with only a few households and homestays, very primitive and very beautiful.
Also, drones are not allowed here, so it's best to bring a telephoto lens for easy shooting and framing.
