2024 Nanbu County Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)

Nanbu County is located in the northern part of the Sichuan Basin, midway down the Jialing River. It is home to beautiful mountain scenery and many famous sites. Some examples are historic sites such as the Yuji Mountain Grand Buddha made during the Northern Song dynasty (one of the 10 Great Buddhas in Sichuan), the Xiaoxia Temple that Du Fu mentions in his poetry, the Huangniang Graveyard at the ancient Yuan dynasty Lifeng Temple, and the hometown of the three Chen brothers (each of whom scored the highest mark in the imperial examinations). There are also natural and man-made landscapes famous both within the province and abroad such as Shengzhong Dam (which has been called “the first lake in the southwest of Sichuan”), Hongyanzi Scenic Spot, Yuanjiazhai Tourist Spot (袁家寨旅游景区), and Jianhao Temple.
