Namibia - A Truly Unique Adventure
Looking to visit one of the most unique places in the world? If yes, Namibia should be on top of your list.
From the ancient dunes of the Namib Desert to the cultural tapestry woven by its various tribes, Namibia is an absolute dream for those with an adventurous spirit.
To get a real flavor of what this unique country has to offer, rent a 4x4 truck with a roof tent and set off to a drive of a lifetime.
Places to visit:
- Windhoek- capital of Namibia
- See the amazing Quiver trees at the Quiver tree forest
- Drive through the Tropic of Capricorn… there are two points!
- Take a hike in the Grand Canyon of Namibia - River Fish Canyon.
- Get lost under the sand of the fascinating ghost town of Kolmanskop
- Hike the incredible dunes in Sossusvlei and see the 900 year old trees in Deadvlei, an amazing clay pan
- Visit the charming town of Luderitz
- Make a quick stop for gas and apple pie in Solitaire
- Take a stroll around Swakopmund and see flamingos and seals on Wolvis Bay
- Sleep under a bed of stars in Spitzkoppe- The night sky is your 1 million star hotel!
- Go on a self drive game/ safari in Etosha. We saw giraffes, buffaloes, dear, different species of birds, lots of zebras. They are everywhere! Didn’t spot any lions but we saw these in another safari we did in Tanzania.
Africa to me, is the most beautiful continent on earth!
💰How much does it cost to rent a house on wheels?
We went to Namibia for 15 days but rented the vehicle for 12 days.
If you have time and money to stay longer, I’d suggest staying at least three weeks so you can take your time driving, resting and taking in the scenery.
Namibia is a big a country and you’ll spend a lot of time behind the wheel because there’s a lot to see.
The cost for renting a 4x4 with a roof tent was $1,200 including full insurance, with a company called Britz.
There are other companies and they have different prices depending on the type of vehicle, tent and extras. We went for the budget friendly, basic vehicle - Not for the instagram friendly; Jeep with solar panel for a ridiculous price. At the end of the day, you are still sleeping in a tent! 😂
The price included:
• Sleeping bags, pillows and blankets for two.
• Kitchenware - plates, glasses, kettle, pots & pans.
• Small gas cylinder
• Portable stove
• Picnic chairs and table
• Freezer
Gas cost: 600 and we drove 4,000 km.
Campsites cost: $210 (5 campsites)
The days we didn’t have the car, we slept at Urban Camp in Windhoek, that was an additional $120.
We would have loved spending more time in Namibia but our budget didn’t allow. Will definitely go back to explore more of this beautiful gem in the world.
This year, my wish is to travel around China and Iran 🤞

The Red Desert is a visual feast.
Enter the Namibian Red Desert early in the morning, and you'll see sand dunes stretching endlessly on both sides of the road. Due to the high iron content in the sand, the dunes appear red, purplish-red, and yellow at different angles in the sunlight, creating a visual feast.

How exciting is Namibia, an untamed land?
If I were to write a bucket list for travel, I would like to include Iceland in Northern Europe, the North and South Poles at the end of the world, and Namibia in Africa.
🔹Here are the same orange-red sand dunes from "Dune" - the Namib Red Desert, the oldest desert in the world, with a history of 80 million years, longer than human history.
🔹Here is the most terrifying coast in the world - the Skeleton Coast. The creepy deep-sea reefs cause ships to crash from time to time, and the shore is covered with the skeletons of marine animals.
🔹Here, you can also walk with cheetahs, experience the joy of "walking a big cat", look up at the vast starry sky close to the ground on the endless desert, and visit the primitive tribe that is about to disappear - the red clay people.
💎This is the untamed land in southwest Africa - Namibia. It is not as commercialized as Kenya and more niche than Tanzania. Traveling in Namibia is like a cult movie - bizarre, weird and exciting.
However, Namibia has always been criticized for the long distances between scenic spots, which take at least 3 hours by car.
In fact, there is a special way to travel to Namibia, which is to take a private jet to avoid long-distance driving and bumpy road conditions, fly between destinations on a comfortable business jet, and overlook the wonders of the desert. It is a real fly in Namibia 👑

Windhoek-Namib National Park-Swakopmund-Sesfontein-Windhoek
✈Arrival flight
The landing point is Hoshikutako International Airport in Windhoek. As the cleanest garden city in Africa, the facilities here are relatively complete.
It is recommended to choose Ethiopian Airlines, transiting in Addis Ababa, no transit visa required, the whole journey only takes 19 hours

✅Dune No. 45: The highest dune in the world in the Namib Desert - Sand Dune No. 45. Under the sunlight, the sunny side is blood red, and the other side is deep black, like an alien creation.
✅Death Valley: Due to the existence of sand dunes, there is no grass growing here, and there is no sign of life. Only dead locust trees and dry white swamps that have been stripped of life are left. It can be described as a quiet place.
swakopmund
✅Walvis Bay: Namibia's second largest city, a natural harbor. Take a yacht out to sea, and seals will climb on the yacht. Pelicans, seagulls and other sea animals will also visit. If you are lucky, dolphins will jump with the boat.
✅Sandwich Bay: The only place in the world where sand and sea embrace each other. Under the leadership of professional off-road vehicle drivers, you can experience the rush of sand and feel the adrenaline surge. You can also see the sand pouring into the sea, pink salt fields and other wonders.
sessfontein
✅Hoanib Valley: The habitat of the red clay people. Here is the Hoanib Valley Camp, the same model as Prince Harry. The camp provides safari vehicles and you can look for the footprints of wild animals in the canyon, such as lions, elephants, and mountain zebras. , thrilling

✅Omanda Private Reserve: A 22,000-acre wildlife reserve with the opportunity to have breakfast with meerkats, track cheetahs in the reserve, and have close contact with cheetahs

Namibia
I traveled to three African countries over seven days and five nights 🌈
I visited Victoria Falls in Zambia & Zimbabwe and the Namib Desert in Namibia 🌏
I used Ethiopian Airlines from Japan, with transfers in Incheon and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia ✈️
I spent two nights in Zimbabwe, one night in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, and two nights in the Namib Desert 🤍
I left everything to the tour company, and had a private tour with arranged transportation and guides 🐪
It was very comfortable and fun 😆

I stayed at Dead Valley Lodge in Namibia 🤍
At this lodge, we enjoyed a full-board service that included breakfast, lunch, and dinner 🍽️
On the first day, there were many guests, so lunch was served as a buffet ✨
In addition to salads and cold dishes, there was also oryx steak 🥩
For dessert, we had vanilla ice cream, which was very refreshing in the hot weather 🍨

Emma, the loneliest hotel in the world, do you dare to experience it?
Hotel: Zannier Hotel Sonop Location: Africa·Namibia
This must be the life destination for wild luxury travel enthusiasts, and Namibia, a country where the ocean and the desert are directly connected, has even more awe-inspiring landscapes. Driving on the highway, on one side is the vast Atlantic Ocean, and on the other side are rolling sand dunes.
Namibia is also a private destination for the British royal family. The couple Harry and Meghan spent their honeymoon here, which also attracted some wild luxury hotels to choose their location here, among which Zannier Hotel Sonop is an existence like the ceiling.
Zannier Hotel Sonop is surrounded by wilderness and rocks, as well as ten tents. Being in the midst of it, you can see the sunrise and sunset of the desert and feel the joy of reaching out to pick stars.
The hotel is located in the southern part of Namibia, hidden in one of the world's oldest deserts, with 13,800 acres of pristine and modern luxury blending in the unspoiled desert wilderness.
The ten tents are wild luxury villas built on top of granite. From an aerial view, they are neatly arranged in order, with reception, rest areas, and restaurants and other public areas located on top of rock piles to enjoy the super beautiful landscape, while the spa center is located in the soft sand at the bottom.
During the day, overlook the stunning desert landscape and feel the lightness and luxury of the desert oasis; at night, lie on the terrace outside the tent, looking up at the twinkling stars.

Desert Solitaire - The Namibian Stopover 'Solitaire'
On the long journey through the vast desert from the capital of Namibia, there is a small town that seems unavoidable for refueling, filling the stomach, shopping, activities, and convenience, and that is the town named after the Solitaire game in the Windows operating system.
Solitaire literally means single-player card games or peg solitaire, and the reason why this town is named as such is probably due to its geographical location. It's like a lonely chess piece in the vast desert, and at the same time, it serves as a transit rest stop connecting Windhoek and the Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert Park.
Solitaire is so small that it only consists of a few rows of bungalows, and the tallest structures are probably the wind turbine and the water tower. There is a church, but without the high steps, a rider could just whizz past the front door. Around the cacti, there are piles of old car shells of various types, which seem a bit out of place. However, it is this creative combination of old cars + cacti + desert that gives this town closest to the entrance of the red desert a Western flair, bringing a sense of novelty and pleasure to those who rest here briefly.
For travelers, any geographical marker is of utmost importance. In China, there are many markers for the Tropic of Cancer, and Namibia spans the Tropic of Capricorn at 23°26′S, which also has a marker for photo opportunities.
The Tropic of Capricorn marker here is quite low, and most people can reach it. Even if they can't, there is a large rock placed underneath, possibly for the shorter folks.
Because it's low, the Tropic of Capricorn marker here is filled with names and covered with stickers, bustling with popularity. It seems to have become a part of the culture of the Tropic of Capricorn, as everyone passing by will come to check in, almost like a pilgrimage.
In this long and hasty journey of life, through toil and dust, with passion in the heart and a gleam in the eye, wherever you find what you love, there blooms a path of flowers.

Exploring Namibia | The Wonderful Experience of Halali Camp Hotel
| The Wonderful Experience of Halali Camp Hotel. Namibia, a country full of wild beauty, a place that fascinates. Here, nature presents itself in its most primitive and purest form, making one feel the pulse of life and the mystery of the universe. And on this magical land, the Halali Camp Hotel has become the most unforgettable experience of my trip.
As soon as I stepped into the Halali Camp, I felt as if I had traveled to a utopia isolated from the world. The golden desert, the blue sky, the lush grassland, everything seemed so peaceful and harmonious. The facilities in the camp were even more eye-catching, with every detail carefully designed to provide the most comfortable and considerate service for guests.
Here, I experienced close contact with nature. In the early morning, I woke up to the song of birds, cycling in the morning fog, feeling the freshness and tranquility of nature. During the day, I drove on the grassland, chasing those freely running animals, releasing my soul. At night, I looked up at the stars and felt the vastness and infinity of the universe.
In addition to the natural scenery, the Halali Camp Hotel also provided me with an opportunity to have close contact with the local culture. The warm and friendly staff told me about the history, culture, and traditions of Namibia, giving me a deeper understanding of this land. Their stories, their smiles, their enthusiasm, all became the most precious memories of my trip.
The Halali Camp Hotel in Namibia is a place where the soul can be purified. Here, I found a connection with nature and found inner peace. This is not just a trip, but a baptism of the soul. I look forward to returning here and feeling the harmony and beauty of nature again.

The ultimate guide to visiting African wildlife parks.
The ultimate guide to visiting African wildlife parks.
One of the best things about living in Cape Town is the opportunity to explore the depths of Africa. Even after working here for many years, I still seize the chance to engage in outdoor activities. From South Africa to Kenya and other regions, there is nothing more fascinating than experiencing exotic wildlife in their natural habitats.
Although completely worth it, planning a safari in Africa is a daunting task.
Where is the best place to go? When is the golden time to watch animals? What should I pack for the wildlife park? You've been asking me a lot of questions about the wildlife park, and I'm ready to cover all of them!
Are you ready for some wild adventure? This is your ultimate guide to exploring the African wildlife park.
The best time to visit the wildlife park.
Imagine if the United States, China, India, and most of Europe were combined to form a massive landmass. This incredible supercontinent would give you an idea of just how big Africa is! In fact, Africa is four times larger than the continental United States.
Of course, if someone asks for the best time to visit the United States, it will depend on countless factors. The same goes for Africa. This diverse continent has snow-capped mountains, vast deserts, lush grasslands, and dense forests.
You can get completely different experiences at different times of the year.
The greatness of Africa's vast expanse lies in the fact that you can visit at any time of the year. Check out my post on the best times to visit wildlife parks in Africa for a complete month-by-month guide to help you determine when to go.
What to pack for the wildlife park
Usually, in terms of packaging, less is more. After all, you can almost always go to your local shopping center and buy anything you need. However, when you're at a wildlife park, it's a completely different story.
The most important thing is that you will not have local convenience facilities.
When you go to a wildlife park, you are completely exposed to the elements and everything you need for the day is crucial. Most importantly, luggage space is often strictly limited (if you are taking a short jungle flight to get to your destination), so you need to have a high level of strategic planning.
Before you depart, please check my breakdown of what to pack for each type of wildlife park so that you look and feel great every second.
How to find the hunting cabin
Finding the right wildlife park cabin is crucial to the success of your trip! Unlike hotels where you can come and go as you please, wildlife park cabins are often where you'll spend most of your time.
In most cases, they also provide the game driver itself.
It is entirely possible to come all the way to Africa and interact only with your cabin, for better or for worse. Lodges often come with vast spaces and many amenities. Do diligent research before committing.
The first step in finding suitable accommodation for a wildlife park is to choose your wildlife park experience. From small tents to luxury cabins, every type of traveler can find something that suits them.
One of your early steps is to decide what kind of zoo visitor you are.
When you know what experience you are pursuing, please carefully review these key contents to look for in the cabins of the wildlife park.
Last but not least, consider the experience from the perspective of the animals. A wildlife park is about safely entering the animals' habitat without disrupting anything. Before you decide on a wildlife park company, look for key tips on how to ethically encounter animals. Sadly, too many companies focus on profit rather than animal welfare.
Careful planning leads to non-cruel adventures.

Places I have lived
I am very lucky to have experienced some of the best safari lodges in Africa. When you are looking for inspiration, here is an overview of the country's most unforgettable places for me.
South Africa
Rovos Rail Durban Wildlife Park: Not your typical wildlife park experience, the vintage charm of Rovos Rail Durban Wildlife Park will take you back in time.
Lion Sands Ivory Lodge and Treehouses: I stayed at Lion Sands Ivory Lodge and Treehouses for a magical luxury camping experience! What could be better than spending the night under the stars with lions, tigers, and bears? Disclaimer: No bears.
Royal Malewane: Kruger National Park is widely regarded as South Africa's premier wildlife destination, and staying at Royal Malewane will take you to the heart of it all.
Gonwana Game Reserve: During my stay at the Gonwana Wildlife Conservation Area in South Africa, I visited an African wildlife park for the first time, and this place will always hold a special place in my heart.
Giraffe Manor, Kenya
Kenya
Campsite of the Cotswolds in the 1920s: This family-owned place is iconic in Kenya. Spending the night at the Cotswolds' 1920s wildlife campsite is a great way to disconnect from the world and see what Africa used to be like.
Maasai Mara National Park's luxurious destination owned by the famous Richard Branson, staying at Mahali Mzuri is an epic adventure that won't disappoint.
Giraffe Manor: This retro and chic hotel is easily one of the most Instagram-friendly hotels in Africa, and in fact, giraffes may eat from your hands.
Namibia
Wolwedans Boulders Safari Camp: When it comes to Namibia, everything is related to Wolwedans Boulders Safari Camp. They offer fully customizable accommodations so you can create your own wildlife park.
Botswana
Botswana's Black Mongoose Alley: Reconnect with nature in the sky beds of Khwai Private Reserve and the luxury tents of Black Mongoose Alley.
Meno a Kwena: Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The simple and rustic Meno a Kwena campsite is a comfortable place for anyone looking to reconnect with nature.
What is the budget for the wildlife park?
Wildlife parks are not cheap, and you usually get what you pay for. Before you enter the sticker shock, remember that wildlife park lodges are usually all-inclusive - so that typically includes food, lodging, alcohol, and guided drives. The only extra cost is your flight.
When you start thinking about travel details, please read my guide to learn about budgeting for African wildlife parks.

The oldest red desert on the planet was formed tens of millions of years ago, with the highest sand dunes, the brightest desert, and the most ghostly Death Valley. The beauty of Sussley's desert is largely due to its color, because the desert is rich in iron, and after oxidation, the surface turns red.

This garden coffee shop in the Atlantic town of Namibia is where I have eaten cheesecakes. The coffee shop was built in a large German-style house in the 1990s. The owner turned his garden into a coffee shop. Half of it was a small fresh atmosphere. Half of it was a flower shed that the owner himself cultivated. There were two turtles in it.
coffee and desserts are great, and breakfast is good. Sitting under the olive tree for breakfast or lunch, in the distance is the sea of Luderitz, this town is not many people, there are many people here. But the most is the sparrow, the sparrows of the cockroaches jumped and jumped, and some of the monks did not pay attention, and they daring to run to the table to share a cheesecake.

In the modern city, I saw the red mud family. The Simba tribes who came out of the virgin forest sold their handicrafts and wood carvings on the street in order to make a living. They applied red mud to the body to protect them from exposure and exposure. The mosquito bites and the red mud turns into their golden bell and coat.
I bought a few souvenirs in them, communicating in the simplest body language, the wildness and straightforwardness of their body, leaving a faint touch to me every time they beat them. The mud is a gift.

Its just that winter is coming to Namibia. A sweater and skirt can also withstand the cold currents of the Atlantic Ocean. When I come to the local area, I always want to match the local features to the gift shop. The locals say why not include an African headscarf.
Under the hands-on teaching of the locals, I rolled the headscarf of Iran a little bit, on the head, like the Indian-style bag method, and it is very similar to the African headscarf. I cant accept this way at once. I am too shy to go out. The locals said, please rest assured that no matter which way, you can go out, no one here will treat you as a different kind.

This is a factory of animal specimens outside the city of Winterthur, Namibia. The workers are busy filling and filling the various animals sent by the customers to make lifelike specimens.
In Namibia, animal specimens are legally produced and are very popular with hunters. If you have money, you can kill any animal.
All the animals that are galloping on the grassland can be found here. These animal specimens, while retaining the beauty of the wild animals, are expensive and the production process is extremely bloody and cruel, but the rich foreign hunters Still coming.

The Namib Desert, named after Naama, means a place without everything, one of the oldest and driest deserts in the world.
In fact, after entering from the entrance of Namib Park, all the way to the west, the desert will gradually turn from brown to red. At the 45th kilometer, there will be a huge sand dune, the most beautiful red sand dune in the legendary curve. "The wonders of the world are very important, often in danger." The Namib Desert is the oldest desert in the world. The evolution of billions of years of nature, the dry hot winds weather the rocks in the mountains into fine sand and dust. An innocent sand sea. Sussex Sand Dunes lies in the depths of the desert. Because of the high iron content, it is all red, and the "Red Desert" comes from this. Sunlight gives it a silky graceful curve, red gives it the mysterious light of the flow, the light and the shadows are in harmony, half black and half red, black and quiet, red intoxicated, not like a real place.

Being with the animals is always warm and full, forgetting the trivialities and worries of life, but for the Chinese, more familiar is to see animals going to Kenya, but I dont know that the Etosha Safari in Namibia is the largest wild in the state. The Animal Sanctuary is also the only wildlife habitat in the world. In addition, it is a common animal here, as well as precious white rhinoceros, spotted hyena, fox, dwarf cat, warthog, cape fox, antelope and so on. In addition to large mammals, the rainy season is also a famous bird watching spot. The birds here include ostriches, vultures, hornbills, flamingos, pigeons, red-billed parrots, herons, goshawks, etc., and are a paradise for bird lovers. The zoo is not strange, the animals are strange, you may not have heard of its name.

Death Valley, Namibia, is the name of a stunning white clay depression in the salt fields of Susosville, Namibia. In the past 900 years, there has been no birth and no signs of life.
Nowhere else - Sossisvlei
"Millennium dry tree on the riverbed" and "The world's largest sand dune". In the same country, this is Namibia, this is Sossisvlei. The most frightening part of the Deadvlei
Salt Marsh is Death Valley. I also mentioned before, in principle, non-four-wheel drive, non-old driver, it is not recommended to enter Death Valley by car, trapping is a high probability event. Death Valley is surrounded by sand dunes, such as the grass in its name.
millennium ago, it used to be a lagoon, but now only the remains of the dead tree, the single shadow only tells the past.

If you describe Mauritius in elegance and fantasy, and describe it in Kenya with wildness, it is best for Namibia to describe it with stunning. I have to say that going to Namibia is much more difficult than going to East Africa. There are few people going there. The information on Chinese is really too little, and the cost of going to it is enough to go to East Africa, but after going there. Found that only two words are "worthy"!
