#hikingtime
It wasn't a complete journey if you haven't visit Vang Vieng yet, so please put this destination on your travel itinerary.
Located at the north of Vientiane, Vang Vieng is a small town which one of the must visit destination in Laos.
If you happened to visit Vang Vieng, you should probably go to its iconic spot which called Nam Xay Viewpoint. The trip to Vang Vieng from Vientiane city will take about two hours drive, so it will not wasting your travel time.
As the Nam Xay Viewpoint is the iconic destination of Laos and also you need to do hiking to get to the very top, I highly suggest you to go during afternoon time starting from 3PM so you will not get hot burning your body. Also you will get the best view ever during sunset time!
During this time, you will also witnessing the air balloon up in the air to complete your excitement in this place.
There are two options to go to Vang Vieng:
1. You may take fast train from Vientiane to Vang Vieng. But it is quite effort on how to get train ticket as the ticket will always almost sold out if you book it on the D-Day. If I may check, there is an online reservation on the application to secure your train ticket. Or you may ask local people or the hotel receptionist to assist you for the booking.
2. Another option is by a mini van. You may also ask local people or the hotel receptionist to assist you for booking the mini van ticket. Thais is the easiest way to secure your seat.
You will only need to pay the entrance ticket for 10.000 Kip (less than $1) which is quite cheap!
As you will do hiking, I suggest you to wear strong shoes or a certain shoes that especially used for hiking.

Take a simple car to enjoy the local water activities.
November 1, 2024, Day 5 of the trip: Blue Lagoon.
The water of the Blue Lagoon flows from the Tham Phu Kham Cave. When it doesn't rain, the lake water is emerald green and very clean, with many small fish swimming in it. Visitors take simple tuk-tuks and travel over bumpy roads to get here. You can swing in the lake or jump from tree branches 5 meters and 3 meters high, then swim to enjoy the cool lake water, and look up at handsome guys crossing the zip line.
This has become a must-visit place for tourists.

Best sunset 🌅 up the hill in Laos that
you have to visit. Located in Vang Vieng, Laos, about 10 km from the city center. The name of this place is Phapoungkham cave and viewpoint.
What is special of this view point:
The westernmost location among the other viewpoints, which is very good location for sunset.
What you need to know before you go to Phapoungkham cave and viewpoint:
Half of the way to this view point is rocky, so make sure you fit enough to go up there. Bring water with you and wear shoes, which is will help you more easily to climb up. The path is very clear, there are some part that made with wooden stairs that you have to be careful with while stepping through.
The path will separated to be two ways nearly the tops of the hills and one way going to the airplane view point and another one going to pegasus view point. And that time, I chose the airplane view point, and didn’t have enough time to go to the pegasus view point.
It’s really worthy climb this view point even though it’s took 30 minutes to go until the top.

🧗♀️The sign at the entrance shows that the mountain road is 300 meters, which takes about half an hour. But the mountain road is very, special and extremely difficult to walk. Therefore, people who are not good at sports and mountain climbing need to be careful. But as the saying goes, no pain no gain. costs 20k KIP or (around USD1.00) per person to climb Nam Xay.
#NamXayViewPoint #vangviengtrip #Laostrip🇱🇦
Nam Xay Viewpoint is open everyday from 8 AM to 5 PM.
It can be a sweaty workout. Wear something airy. Note that Laos is a conservative country, so nothing too exposed.

The view is worth the bike and the hike

Nam Xay Viewpoint
It’s quite a climb to get to the view point, but you won’t regret the effort that you put in. You’ll have a full 360 view of the phenomenal area around the mountain you’re standing on. It is really impressive to look at the valleys and the other mountain ranges behind.
The path itself is rocky and requires proper footwear, because you can hurt yourself easily. Some parts aren’t really a path so you’ll need your hands a bit to climb. It takes around 25 minutes to get up if you take your time.

Laos Tour Part Two: Unique Natural Scenery
*Laos Tour Part Two: Unique Natural Scenery*
Laos' diverse geographical environment has created unique natural scenery.
Although I only passed by in a hurry, several landscapes left a deep impression.
~~~~~
From Vientiane to Vang Vieng, about 60 kilometers by car, the road gradually becomes steep, the trees become dense, and a vast body of water suddenly appears under the roadside cliff.
Surrounded by mountains and trees, the reservoir is like a sea; the boundless blue water is connected to the sky; there are three hundred green islands scattered like stars.
This is a reservoir built downstream of the Nam Ngum River, named Nam Ngum Lake, also known as Thousand Island Lake. For the inland Laotians, Nam Ngum Lake is the sea in their eyes.
~~~~~
Vang Vieng is famous for its beautiful natural landscapes, which are as beautiful and charming as jade.
The swimming pool of the hotel in the early morning reflects the mountains, and many Chinese people can't help but exclaim: "It's just like the landscape of Guilin!"
The Nam Ngum River under the sunset, with boats shuttling and sparkling waves. The mountains are like silhouettes pasted on the horizon, showing more charm and grace.
Vang Vieng has many caves, wide or narrow, bright or dark, with staggered layers of caves, strange stalactites, and intermittent streams. It's like an adventure to visit the caves in their original state.
The water flowing out of the Tham Poukham Cave converges into a lake at the foot of the mountain; the lake water is rich in copper ions and appears blue, hence the name "Blue Lagoon".
The water flows slowly, winding and bending, and the big trees on both sides are like giant umbrellas. On the grass, cool pavilions, stone banks, and small bridges, most of them are leisure tourists from Europe and South Korea.
The sunset, tree shadows, and lake water reflect each other, mixing blue, green, and golden into indescribable gorgeous colors.
Unable to resist the temptation of the beautiful water, some people tied swings on the tree trunks and swayed on the lake water; some people simply jumped into the lake to swim and play.
A huge branch of a hundred-year-old banyan tree has become a natural diving platform. Under the cheers of the tourists, handsome men and beautiful women of various skin colors started to dive in different styles.
Of course, I can't miss this good scenery and water, so I also jumped into the lake and played in the water.
The lake water is cool, blue and clear, and the feet are deep and bottomless; the fish swim around, touching the skin, and scatter as soon as they touch.
The landscapes of Vang Vieng gave me an unprecedented experience.
~~~~~
Kuang Si Falls is located in the mountains 29 kilometers south of Luang Prabang, the ancient capital of Laos.
Here, the rainforest vegetation is lush, with towering trees, ground covered with weeds, and wild flowers dotted in between.
The waterfall is about 200 meters high, triangular in shape, and the water splashes and falls between the rocks, like a white silk dancing vigorously. It is said that it is more spectacular to see it in the rainy season.
I think the unique beauty of Kuang Si Falls is largely due to the layered and winding waterway.
The bottom stone of the waterway is yellow and white and smooth, and the water flow is crystal clear and blue. The water flows together and apart, sometimes rushing like a waterfall, sometimes slowly accumulating into a pool.
There are three places where the pool is wide and deep, becoming natural swimming pools. People splash and play in the water, adding some liveliness to this quiet deep mountain.
The unique landscape is like Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou, but the scattered banyan trees and towering coconut trees remind me that this is a foreign country.
Muddy. Chaotic. Beautiful!
Wow. Started off relatively easy, then got a littler harder as the mud got thicker. Climbing using hands and feet by the end but nothing too extreme! Completely worth it for the view at the top though! 😍 coming down was slippery but a good laugh. Total thing takes about 45 minutes up and down.
Blue Lagoon and Phukham Cave
#gooutside
Tham Phu Kham mean “Blue Lagoon” in Lao and is this is said to be one of the most sacred caves in the country.
As you would expect this also makes it one of the most popular spots to visit in Vang Vieng and it is also known for its azure waters
(a nod to the name) and first chamber you will find the large bronze statue of the Buddha and then At the bottom of the track to the cave is the blue lagoon, a beautiful pool with crystal clear waters. The cold turquoise waters provide a chance to cool down and wash of the cave’s dust. Next to the pool is a tree with ropes hanging down from its branches to swing off from and jump in the water.
To get to the cave you will need to travel from Vang Vieng urban to Ban Na Thong and then hike to the main mouth, the 200 meter climb is quite steep at places.
Once inside you can swim in the lake in a cave or you can also try swimming into the inner chamber on a rope#asiatrip #naturalwonders #laos
