2025 Myeong-dong Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in January)
Discover flavors worth sharing—your next favourite restaurant await
#2024mapped Back in May 2024, I went to Seoul with my mom and sister. Found this hidden gems in Myeongdong —— one of the best halal restaurant in Seoul. Been in Seoul for 10 days and repeat this same place twice. Trust me you won’t regret here. Lamb skewers is a must!!
📍Address: Same row as kampungku- ground floor
Recommended menus to order:
- Lamb skewers- min 2 set
- Beef black paper
- Tofu
THE SPOT FOR GOOD BREAKFAST IN SEOUL.
The breakfast set was good
For Iced Americano, it was difficult to actually discern the taste of the coffee beans.
Personally, I prefer acidity, but it seems to be somewhere between acidity and boldness. Decaffeinated Americano is not recommended. I think the Starbucks decaf on the other side is better.
Korean street food 🥘
#eatlikealocal
My trip to Seoul was unforgettable, especially when it came to Korean street food! Wandering through Myeongdong, the lively night market scene was a dream for food lovers. From crispy hotteok (sweet pancakes) to spicy tteokbokki (rice cakes), the variety of flavors is insane! Each dish costs anywhere from ₩1,000 to ₩5,000 (about $1-$4), making it affordable to try a little bit of everything.
One of my favorites was the odeng (fish cake skewers) served with hot broth—perfect for a chilly evening. And the Korean fried chicken? Unreal! Sweet, spicy, and crispy, it’s nothing like what you get back home. After feasting, I took a walk to Namsan Tower, just a short trip away, to enjoy the night views of Seoul. Eating my way through the street stalls was honestly one of the best parts of my trip to Korea! 🍜🍢🌶️

Affordable Michelin-approved restaurant in Myeong-dong!
Located in the heart of Seoul, “Myeong-dong Gyoja” is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience traditional Korean comfort food. This is a family-owned place operating since 1966.
The simple yet flavorful dishes, coupled with the restaurant’s long-standing reputation, make it a culinary landmark in Seoul. 🇰🇷
Their menu is quite limited with only 4 options:
1. Kalguksu 칼국수 (knife-cut noodles)
2. Mandu 만두 (dumplings)
3. Bibim Guksu 비빔 국수 (spicy cold noodle dish) - I highly recommend this one, it’s my favorite 😍
4. Kong Guksu 콩국수 (soy milk noodle soup)
✔️Their signature home made garlic-laden kimchi is to die for! Best kimchi I’ve ever tried in my life!🤩
The service is fast and efficient. The staffs are used to high turnover and large crowds, so you can expect to get your food quickly even during busy times.
📝Tips⬇️
•Don’t go during busy hours, instead, dine at around 2:00pm (lunch) or around 8:00pm (dinner) to avoid long queues as this restaurant is very famous and located in the bustling shopping district of Seoul, making it easily accessible for shoppers and tourists exploring the area.
•They have a branch in Gangnam located in CoEx Mall.
•Pay as you order.
•Unlimited kimchi.
⏰ opens from late morning until evening.

#getgoing2025 Brand new hotel just opened on July 20. We got a deluxe room with one queen bed and one twin bed. It’s large room (for downtown) for a family of 3-4. There’s also a small sitting area with a couch a small child or adult can sleep on. The bathroom has a bath tub. The month of July ‘24 and likely August too, they have a “soft” opening, meaning many amenities and facilities are not available including the pool and the club lounge. This info is not on the website and we were disappointed to find out upon checking in.
The included breakfast is a set menu, not buffet like many other hotels. We tried Korean set today and it was delicious. Staff speak English well and they’re all very kind and try to accommodate guest requests. Overall, I’d recommend this hotel for a family stay to be near many major attractions with a subway station in front of the hotel.

Star-studded soup of Korean Ginseng Soup! Savoring the rich flavours of Korea comfort food, steaming hot bowl is sooooo perfect for the negative winter temperature in Seoul during our December family trip. Loves the thick sticky broth and its richness of the soup. That’s why is a Michelin 2017 star since. We had a side order of Dak Bulgogi which is sweet and spicy pan fried chicken minced meat, paired with rice, is perfect! Located on the 2nd floor in a building (beside metro hotel) in Myeongdong.
Review: Myeong-dong Street Food
#myeongdong #korea #travel #familytravel #myitinerary #citydaytours
Myeong-dong is a paradise for street food lovers! Walking through the bustling streets, I was greeted with the irresistible aroma of freshly cooked snacks and a vibrant atmosphere that makes the experience truly unforgettable.
Variety
The selection of street food is incredible—there’s something for every taste. From classic Korean treats like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and hotteok (sweet pancakes) to unique fusion creations like lobster tails with cheese and grilled scallops, you’ll never run out of options.
Must-Try Items
• Hotteok: Soft, chewy, and filled with brown sugar, nuts, and cinnamon—it’s the perfect dessert.
• Eomuk (Fish Cake Skewers): Warm and savory, especially comforting on colder nights.
• Fried Chicken Skewers: Juicy chicken coated in sweet or spicy sauce, it’s a crowd favorite.
• Grilled Cheese Lobster: A bit pricey but worth every bite for seafood lovers.
• Egg Bread (Gyeranppang): Sweet and savory, it’s simple yet satisfying.
Atmosphere
The lively crowd, colorful stalls, and friendly vendors make the experience as delightful as the food itself. The energy of Myeong-dong is contagious, and exploring the food stalls is like a culinary adventure.
Tips
• Bring cash; some stalls don’t accept cards.
• Go on an empty stomach so you can sample as much as possible.
• Visit in the evening when the streets are most lively and the food is freshly made.
Conclusion
Myeong-dong street food is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Seoul. It’s more than just food—it’s a cultural and sensory experience that captures the heart of Korean street life. Whether you’re a foodie or a casual traveler, you’ll leave with a full stomach and happy memories!

Myeongdong Comic Street is also known as Jaemi-ro which is nestled in Myeongdong district in Seoul! To arrive on the streets of cartoon in Myeongdong, exit from exit 3 of Myeongdong station. The cartoon themed street stretch about 450 meters from exit 3, with Korean comics and characters. There is a line ups of restaurants and cafes on the comic street! Weekend Getaways- Myeongdong Night Market Food Hunt
#weekendgetaways
📍Myeongdong Night Market, Seoul, South Korea
Visited the busy and bustling Myeongdong night market and it was such a vibe. The entire place is huge, with a long stretch of street with line ups of street food stalls, clothing stores, souvenir stores, there is just so much to explore! The night market was lively and vibrant, was really crowded during our visit on the weekends! We tried some of the food here and my favourite has got to be japchae, toppoki and oden (fish cakes). Love that visitors can refill the soup for the fish cakes! Some of the must try while visiting Myeongdong night market would be the egg bun, japchae and toppoki! Lovely and busy place, definitely seeing myself returning for more shopping and food hunting in the future!
Korean BBQ in Seoul- So Good!
#localfoodies
📍Musoe Kimchi Pork, Myeongdong, Seoul, South Korea
Visited this popular chain Korean bbq restaurant while travelling to Seoul, and it was such a delight! They have a few outlets in Seoul and we went to the one in Myeongdong. Took us a while to find it as it is located at the second floor of the shop lot. The restaurant is huge and spacious, with plenty of tables and seatings, is able to accommodate larger groups of patrons. Besides, we were seated next to the opened windows, was really airy and comfortable during autumn! They offer only two types of Korean bbq (one with the vegetable and one without), and also a few sides for sharing. The staff helped us to grill the meat, tofu and kimchi, so no worries on charring the meat! The grilled pork was nicely arranged and plated on the hot stone grill, love it! The grilled pork was grilled perfectly, flavourful and crispy, great pairing when wrapped with lettuce and kimchi. So good!

A delicious night-sweetening cafe for grandmas in Myeongdong Euljiro☕️
Moderate
Hip Euljiro Myeongdong Korean dessert Yanggaeng, Patbingsu restaurant, Jeongdang Cafe
I really like red bean desserts like Yanggaeng because I have a grandmother's taste
I went to Jeongdang because it is a cafe specializing in desserts and drinks made with red beans
This place has a very luxurious interior and the Yanggaeng is pretty and delicious, so it is already very popular
They say that you have to wait especially during lunch hours
📍Location: 29 Euljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul, 1st floor back door (Euljiro 1-1 Station Exit)
⏰Operating hours: 10:00-21:30 every day (21:00 last order)
🅿️The underground parking lot of The Zone Eulji Tower building can be used
(If you purchase more than 10,000 won, you will be registered for a 2-hour discount)
🛍️Yanggaeng gift set, ceramics for sale
🍽️Menu recommendation:
- Patbingsu
Patbingsu is milk ice with red bean syrup instead of red beans There was a single piece of glutinous rice cake on top.
Since it is a red bean specialty cafe, the red bean shaved ice was sweet and delicious.
- Monaka ice cream
I ordered the basic monaka ice cream.
I personally thought this was better than the red bean shaved ice.
But there wasn't much red bean in it.
- Chestnut Yanggaeng
It was really delicious because there were whole chestnuts in the chestnut Yanggaeng.
It wasn't sweet and was light, so it was really delicious.
I personally think that the Yanggaeng and tea at the Jeongdang Cafe are the most delicious.
If you are looking for a good Korean dessert Yanggaeng restaurant in Euljiro Myeongdong,
I highly recommend Jeongdang Cafe.
