Walking there, the scenery along the way was picturesque, filled with surprises at every step. Upon arrival, I was stunned by the spectacular view of Mount Fuji, with the endless road seemingly leading me into its depths. I found that although the Hikawa Watch Shop is the easiest landmark to find, the real shooting location requires a slight move forward to the turning point. There, security personnel are in charge of managing the visitors, ensuring their safety. Despite this, I still felt the local warmth and beauty. In this cold March, despite the low temperatures, I saw Mount Fuji covered in snow, which was incredible. I plan to visit again because I know there are many more beautiful places waiting for me to explore. If you like the outdoors, consider climbing Mount Fuji as high as 12,388 feet. The trail is only open from July to September, as the weather gets very cold at the top of the mountain. If it's only there for a day, you can take the 5th station, which is a 12 hour round trip. If you feel like an adventure, you can book accommodation near the top of the mountain, so you can watch the sunrise together with other mountain climbers. Keep in mind that it takes a full 24 hours to climb to the top. If you're not ready to climb the summit, you can still take pictures from afar. You have to make your own way to one of the pick up points so leave time. Met at the Hamamatsu bus station which was easy to find from the directions provided and very well organised when you arrived at the ticket desk. Nice coach with pre allocated seats departs 0900. Around 2.5 hours to Mount Fuji visitor centre. Guide repeated instructions many times during the day as if he had a children’s group which was a little irritating for a group of only 20 plus adults. The visitor centre has two buildings ..the one on the left far better..cafe and toilets in the right hand side building. Unfortunately it was a cloudy morning so we could only drive to station 1, scheduled on tour to station 5..so all you see is ...well..just a car park at station 1. Not the guides fault but to be aware this can happen regularly as warned in joining instructions. Should have been the highlight to see Mount Fuji but alas the weather was against us...so just the car park view. Lunch stop at lake Fujikawaguchiko was very good..well organised and particularly careful to ensure vegetarian, Muslim, Vegan etc. requirements are met. By lunchtime the weather was clearing so the coach driver Kindly took us to a spot we could see Mount Fuji in the background for photos ..the only views of the day. Then on to Lake Ashi for a very nice short 15 minute cruise looking at fantastic scenery..nice part of tour. Stop at Hakone Ropeway..actually an old (and rusty!) cablecar. Again views to half way were stunning but again the clouds prevented what apparently can be stunning views back to Mount Fuji (note this view is from the left hand side of the cable car going up). Picture of what the view can be like on a clear day below. At the base station there is a small zoo, aquarium, shops and restaurants. I chose the bullet train return option which is still a 45 minute drive from Hakone Ropeway. You are then given tickets and train details ..again repeated numerous times.
