A hidden gem rarely visited by tourists: Mikata Five Lakes
This paradise on earth is just a two-hour drive from Kyoto. There are plenty of check-in spots on the mountain, with one side facing the Sea of Japan and the other side facing the Mikata Five Lakes. Everyone can immerse themselves in nature.
Located only two hours from Kyoto, the stunning view from top of the mountain are simply amazing. Nature at its best.

[Hyogo] My holiday in the forest in Mikata-gun
Mori to Boku no Kyujitsu is a campsite in Mikata-gun, Hyogo Prefecture.
In the winter, it is used as a ski resort, and in the summer, it operates as a campsite that makes use of the slopes.
The sun and wind were strong that day, but the starry sky was amazing!
The dried sardine ramen we had at a nearby hot spring on the way back was delicious!

Amarube Railway Bridge • Sky Station
I went to Amarube Bridge and Sky Station in Kami-cho, Mikata-gun, Hyogo Prefecture!
Here you can walk on the abandoned railway tracks.
Just as the name Sky Station suggests, you can walk through the station building, which is still in use, and enjoy the scenery.
Train lovers will be very happy.

[Hyogo Prefecture] A hidden waterfall in the mountains of Hyogo! "Shiwagara Falls"
Shiwagara Falls is a hidden waterfall hidden deep in the mountains of Shinonsen Town, located on the border with Tottori Prefecture in the northwest of Hyogo Prefecture.
It is located in the Komatagawa Valley, about 30 to 40 minutes on foot from the entrance to a parking lot that can accommodate about 5 cars.
However, the mountain trail has many ups and downs, and the second half is mostly a steep downhill mountain path.
There are also slippery muddy slopes with ropes, so be careful and don't climb lightly.
At the end, you will come out into a valley with a clear stream, but the footing is rough with boulders, so you should at least walk 30 to 40 minutes. Trekking shoes or boots are best
When you reach the end of the valley, you will enter a cleft in the rocks and a hidden waterfall will appear before your eyes (it cannot be seen from the outside)
Light shines through the hole in the ceiling, making it truly mystical
Be careful not to get wet in front of the waterfall basin (especially with your camera)
It's scary because there are so few people around
Be careful as it is also a bear-infested area
However, it is a hidden waterfall with a spectacular view, so I recommend it

[Mikata District] Nature Enjoyment Spot
Having lived in Korea for a long time, I'm surrounded by tall buildings and it's hard to experience the abundant nature like in Japan, so whenever I return to Japan I always travel to waterfalls and hot spring towns in the countryside. Of these, this area is easier to get to than other areas, and there aren't many people, so it's easy to sightsee. Even while driving, you'll see lots of nature, and the hot spring town has a good, old-fashioned Japanese atmosphere. The soba noodles I ate there were really delicious, probably because the water was so clean!

Shimonohama Observation Deck
#japantrip It's a spectacular view! If you are driving, there are several parking spots, and there are also spots where you can get off to the bottom, so we recommend walking down. There is a parking lot, and it is located on the way to Mitahama Beach. You can also go down to the rocky area. The sea is calm in the summer, so it's great for a short break! On your way along the coast toward Mitahama Beach in the north-west from Iso Park, there is an observation point called Jizohana. There is a huge rock split by the act of nature where the waves hit hard on the surface. As you come close to this point you would see the water splash up through its deep gap violently making echoing sound. From this observation point you can see Benten Island.

San-in Coast Geopark Hall
#japantrip More interesting than we were expecting - covers a lot more than the geology of the area.
An exhibition facility that you can enter for free. I think it's very suitable for children's learning. You can understand the topography and nature of the San'in Coast very well. It was very interesting to be able to see the entire topography of Japan. It was also interesting to be able to look at sand from various beaches I had been to under a microscope.
Although the atmosphere is aimed at children, adults can also learn a lot. It was available for free.

If you want to eat Matsuba crab in Kasumi in winter, I recommend Minshuku Choshiro, it's the best and most delicious! I really want you to try it!
[Accommodation] Minshuku Ryokan Choshiro
[Location] 788 Kasumi, Kasumi-ku, Kami-cho, Mikata-gun, Hyogo
[Access] About 5 minutes walk from JR Sanin Main Line "Kasumi Station"
[Parking] Available (free)
[Wi-Fi] Available (free)
[Reference budget] Current price (16,500 yen/person)
[Visit date] Mid-March 2023
In Kasumi, Hyogo Prefecture, you can enjoy the winter gourmet Matsuba crab from the Sea of Japan at minshuku, inns, restaurants, etc. Among them, Minshuku Choshiro is by far the most recommended. You won't feel thirsty even after eating and returning home. The menu is also stylish, so you will definitely be satisfied no matter what you eat. Crab dishes come out one after another. I'm so full I can't eat it all, so I make rice balls of crab rice and other things I can take home and have them for dinner.
This is a recommended minshuku that I really want you to try.

[Hyogo] A relaxing old-style cafe with an ocean view
This is an old-style cafe with an ocean view in Kami-cho, Hyogo Prefecture.
It has windows all over, so it feels open and the view is amazing! You can relax in a comfortable and calm atmosphere.
The menu is drinks and desserts, and there are no rice dishes.
They also have rental space, so they seem to have various events.
When I went, the tatami room was a gallery of illustrations and other things.
Please stop by for a break!
