My favourite early Sakura viewing spot is at the outskirts of Tokyo. The early Sakuras are called kawazu Sakura. This is a park/mountain situated near Matsuda JR station and it is covered by the JR pass~ They hold usually hold the Sakura Masturi (festival) in late February to early march. The view from the top is also fantastic. If you are lucky enough, you may even see Mount Fuji! It is best to go during a weekday as there may be a crowd during the weekends. However, there is an entrance fee for the park, approximately 300 yen. Trust me, the view is worth every penny. You can either choose to walk from the station to the park or wait for the bus which always have a long queue. Walking is the best as you can also see the small unique shops along the way. It is very popular with tourists during this time😊 🌸The cherry blossoms here are of the Kawazu Sakura variety, which has its own unique characteristics. It is a cherry blossom that blooms earlier than other varieties. The flowers are large and bright pink. They usually bloom between early February and early March of each year. 🌸The day I went, there were a lot of people and long lines both going up and down. But the cherry blossoms were so beautiful that it was worth the wait. I was not disappointed at all. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, with a soft pink color, alternating with the bright yellow of the Nanohana flowers. It was soooooo beautiful. It was like they were waiting to give happiness to those who visited. It was a very heartwarming travel experience🥰 In fact, on a clear day, you can also see Mt. Fuji🗻. But yesterday, it was cloudy and there was no sun, so I didn't see Mt. Fuji. #Sakura2024 These are cherry blossoms around Matsudayama Herb Garden, about a 15-minute walk from Shin-Matsuda Station! The transparent pink color of the cherry blossoms illuminated by the setting sun will soothe your everyday fatigue. Also, because it is on high ground, if you look down you can see the cherry blossoms and the townscape, and if you look up a little you can see Mt. Fuji. If the view is good, you can take a photo of the cherry blossoms with Mt. Fuji in the background. Please be sure to go between lunchtime and sunset! Matsudayama Herb Garden (Nishihirahata Park) is a wonderful spot where you can see early-blooming Kawazu cherry blossoms and Mt. Fuji! Fuji is backlit in the afternoon, so it is recommended to go in the morning. The official website states that the cherry blossom festival hours are "9:00 am to 4:00 pm." However, when I visited, I was able to enter even though I arrived around 8:00, perhaps by chance. (Thank you for coming early in the morning 🙇♂️) There were not many people immediately after entering, so I was able to take photos at my own pace. The number of people increased from around 8:30, and by 10:30, there was a long line to enter. ▶︎▶︎Best time to see This year, it was in full bloom on February 18th. The main reason for our trip to Tokyo this time was to see the Kawazu cherry blossoms, a deep pink variety that blooms only from February to early March. When we went, it was 5 days after the full bloom. This variety is quite hardy and can survive for 7-10 days after the full bloom. The Kawazu cherry blossoms here are planted all over the hillsides, alternating with fields of bright yellow nanohana flowers. The garden has made a safe path under the cherry trees, so small children can come and visit. Most importantly, we had the chance to see Mt. Fuji on a clear day. This is actually in Kanagawa Prefecture♡ The Matsuda Sakura Festival is also held, and many people come on weekends. If you want to take beautiful photos, it's best to go on a weekday! And it's best to go as early as possible. It gets crowded in the afternoon. There are no restaurants and almost no shops, so it's best to eat before going or bring a lunch box! The garden is very wide and sloped, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes! By the way, my personal photo spots are a narrow side path where there is no one and on the way back, just before the main road (where you can take photos of Mt.
