Bethesda: A home under the cherry trees
Half of Maryland's land area belongs to the Atlantic Coastal Plain, with sandy soil in the south and fertile land in the north. The state spans the Chesapeake Bay of the Atlantic Ocean, with a coastline stretching 3,200 miles. The Chesapeake Bay is a wide and long drowned valley that extends from south to north into the interior, dividing Maryland into eastern and western parts. The eastern part has a humid subtropical climate, while the western part has a continental climate. The Chesapeake Bay is 320 kilometers long from north to south, 6 to 60 kilometers wide from east to west, and up to 105 meters deep at its deepest point. The western shore is home to large rivers such as the James River and the Potomac River. To the north is the head of the bay, where the Susquehanna River flows in. There is also a 30-kilometer-long canal that goes directly to the lower Delaware River through the northern part of Delaware.
There is a very small town in Maryland called Bethesda. It is also known as Cherry Blossom Town, and its residents are middle class. Each household has a large yard, and this season, the community's roads are interlaced with blooming cherry blossoms. Many people who have seen the cherry blossoms in DC will come to the town for a walk, so the original residents will put up signs on their lawns: No parking in front of the house. At this time, the town is immersed in a beautiful sea of flowers.
