I'm not really a fan of islands or beaches because I can't stand the hot weather and I have a fear of getting tan. But I can't deny that my perspective changed completely after I had my chance to foot down in Mantanani Island. Oh my god the combination picture of the ocean and sky was sooo beautiful. I wish I had booked an overnight trip instead of going back to mainland on the same day. #travel #holiday #island #awesomepic

The Mermaid Island, once famous for its two wild manatees, is a paradise in Sabah. The unpolluted beaches and the beautiful scenery of the water are a bit quieter than the Semporna.
[How to get there]: Limit 85 people to the island every day, take a day trip to
[play one]: Mermaid Island Day Tour
Mermaid Island typical features clear water and delicate White sand, with clear waters of 40 meters in visibility, can clearly display the corals and colorful fishes of different shapes on the seabed. Participating in day trips can satisfy the popular diving spots for snorkeling enthusiasts.
[Playing 2]: Staying at the island resort, watching the blue tears go deep into the sea
mermaid island has more than 10 resorts, each has its own choice, choose to live on the island resort, have plenty of time to snorkel Deep dive, and the opportunity to encounter amazing blue tears; when the crowds on a day trip dissipate, you can feel the original tranquility and beauty on the island.
Since Mermaid Island is a little away from the city and worried about the weather, it is a big early today. It takes two hours by car to reach the pier and then an hour's boat ride to the Mermaid Island. We traveled all the way through the wind and waves. If we were lucky, we could see the dolphins infested, and the interest of the members was also higher than one. Of course, there are also a few members who are seasick, and the one that spits is called a dark day. Here, you should remind everyone to prepare seasickness medicine according to your own physical condition before starting, so as not to affect the subsequent trip.
Mermaid Island is a small island that has not been over-exploited and is relatively original in Sabah. It is also the most representative business card of Sabah. The boat just docked, everyone can't wait to get off the boat, the little pot friend who just stunned on the boat, and suddenly became alive and kicking, really admire their infinite energy.
The water is clear and young, the milky white beach, the jelly-like sea water, the coconut trees of the Yushu River, and the various flowers that compete with each other. The only thing that makes me feel a little lacking is that there are a lot of dead wood branches on the beach, which affects the visual beauty, but it is because these dead woods are the original of this island.

Mantanani Island (also known as Mantanani Islands) is located in the northwest sea of Sabah. It is home to the mysterious dugongs, also known as mermaids, which is why it is called Mantanani Island.
The Mantanani Islands are made up of three islands, known for their blue water and white sand. Most tourists stay on the main island, which has long stretches of white sand, simple fishermen, and swaying coconut trees. The photos you take can be used as postcards!
There are about 20 developed diving spots on the island, suitable for both beginners and experienced divers. In the vast ocean world, you can see many unique marine creatures.
Mantanani Island has become one of the most popular islands in Sabah, Malaysia, with its long history, magnificent scenery, and warm hospitality. It will leave you with a deep impression and a unique and unforgettable experience.

In Sabah, I accidentally fell into God's goldfish bowl.
Sabah is a fun place with a long coastline and many islands. You can see the clear and blue sea water when you go out to sea and snorkel. We took a boat to Mermaid Island and took a lovely pink boat. The little fish came around, many clownfish, blue sky, white beach, emerald sea water, very healing.

Still by far my favourite island in Sabah - Mantanani Island. While the journey to get there was a bit bumpyβ45 minutes in a speedboat that was quite jumpyβthe view upon reaching the island was absolutely worth it.
The room featured charming wooden vibes that perfectly complemented the tropical setting (though unfortunately, I didnβt get a photo of it - only a video which Iβm unable to post here apparently). The beauty of the island truly captivated me, especially the corals surrounding it. We had the chance to swim and snorkel around the island. My gosh, the corals.. they were magnificent! So colorful and vibrant, I was in awe of their beauty.
That morning, I woke up to the sight of the oceanβthe bluest ocean I have ever seen. It felt like I was staring at a painting; the view was just breathtaking and left me speechless. I found myself simply sitting by the sand, soaking in the beauty of my surroundings, and appreciating the tranquility of the island.
The resort itself was stunning, with well-maintained grounds that made you feel at one with nature. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring my stay was relaxing. Although the boat ride was a challenge, it only made the reward of being on such a beautiful island even sweeter.
I will definitely come back, maybe for a longer stay next timeβperhaps even for my honeymoon! This island truly deserves more time to explore and enjoy. If youβre looking for a peaceful getaway, Sutera Mantanani is a place I highly recommend.
Ps: Itβs also worth mentioning that Mantanani Island has other accommodations operating there, so you have options to choose from depending on your preferences.

This is the most worthwhile place to visit in my life.
Traveling in Kota Kinabalu made me feel unparalleled charm. When I climbed Mount Kinabalu, I was full of expectations. As the altitude increased, the tropical rainforest was gradually replaced by alpine plants, and every step made me feel the shock of nature. Standing on the top of the mountain, overlooking the entire Sabah, all the fatigue disappeared instantly, and the sense of accomplishment and tranquility were intertwined.
In the city, I strolled in the lively market, tasted authentic food, especially the delicious "Soto", which made me feel the local enthusiasm in every bite. At the night market, the colorful snacks made me intoxicated.
Then, I went to Mermaid Island, the delicate beach and clear sea water were fascinating. When diving, colorful fish swam around me, as if in a dream world. The sun was shining on the water, sparkling, and I felt extremely happy in an instant.
This trip is not only an exploration of nature, but also a baptism of the soul. Kota Kinabalu will always be engraved in my memory.
Sabah travel guide! Finally someone explained Semporna in Kota Kinabalu.
Finally, someone has explained Sabah travel clearly, and let us enter the dream world of Kota Kinabalu and Semporna together.
1. The relationship between Sabah, Kota Kinabalu and Semporna
Sabah is a federal state in Malaysia. Kota Kinabalu (Kota Kinabalu), as the capital of Sabah, is full of vitality. Tawau is a province in Sabah, while Semporna is a district in Tawau. Beautiful islands or resorts such as Kapalai, Mataking, and Sipadan are all within the jurisdiction of Semporna.
2. Kota Kinabalu
1. Transportation: Kota Kinabalu Airport [Kota Kinabalu], direct flights are available from Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Shenzhen and other places in China. The daily price is relatively cheap and the flight time is about 3-4 hours. The airport is very close to the city.
2. Features: Very cost-effective, making it the first choice for traveling abroad for the first time. There are seas and mountains here, rich natural and cultural resources, and complete facilities for food, drink, entertainment and transportation. Compared with Semporna, it is more friendly to the elderly and children in terms of transportation and entertainment richness.
3. How to play:
- Land: You can choose to visit the mangroves (there are many to choose from), Mount Sacred Mountain, Cultural Village, and eat in the city, such as University of Sabah, Gaya Street, Floating Mosque, etc.
- Go to the sea near the islands: Go to the twin islands of Taomeng Island and Sabi Manukan to enjoy the fun at sea.
- Go to sea on distant islands: explore Mermaid Island, Beach Island, Paradise Island, and experience the charm of diving.
3. Semporna
1. Transportation: Sempornaβs airport is [Tawau], and currently direct flights to cities include Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, and Macau. Other cities require a transfer from Kuala Lumpur (3 hours) or Kota Kinabalu (1 hour) to Tawau Airport. Tawau Airport is about an hour's drive from Semporna town.
2. Features: If you want to experience delicious food and high-quality service, Semporna may not be the best choice. The main advantage of Semporna is the beautiful sea, while the conditions in the town are relatively average.
3. How to play:
- One-day island hopping tour: You can choose the Mataking Line, Donshakaran Line, or Mabu Kapalai Line.
- Half-day tour: Lover's Bay, mangroves, and sea fishing are all good choices.
- Water House/Sand House Resort: If you have the budget, you can go directly to Kapalai, Mataking, and MWB; if you are looking for cost-effectiveness, you can consider Longzhu, White Pearl, and Arcadia; if you like diving, you can choose Borneo, White Pearl, and Xinjia Motor; if you want an Internet celebrity water house, you can choose crystal, royal, etc.
4. Itinerary reference

Kota Kinabalu Mermaid Island Travelogue~
π« Warning: Not for those who get seasick!
π΄ A dual experience of beauty and bumpiness, are you ready?
π Follow my writing and unveil the mystery of Mermaid Island in Kota Kinabalu.
---
π During my 7-day adventure in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, I decided to challenge myself and stay at the Mermaid Island Resort for one night. This decision was not made on a whim but after careful consideration. After all, with children in tow, we wanted to find a place that was both family-friendly and offered the fun of island hopping. Although the nearby islands were very convenient for island hopping, taking just over ten minutes to reach, I longed for the distant crystal-clear seas.
π Here is my detailed comparison of Sapi Island and Mermaid Island:
- π€ Boat ride: 40 minutes to Mermaid Island, while Sapi Island takes 1 and a half hours (boat ride only, plus about 2 hours' drive to the pier).
- πͺ Boats: Due to the rough seas, choosing a regular pier and boat is crucial. On the day we left the island, we encountered a storm with strong winds and rain, making the boat ride terrifyingly bumpy, and the 40-minute journey became excruciating. (During the rainy season from December to March, the waves are even worse, and there may be cancellations of boat trips)
- π¨ Accommodation: Sapi Island is not yet fully developed, with no hotels or resorts, mainly offering day trips.
π Mermaid Island, also known as Mantanani Island, consists of three small islands. Mantanani Besar is the largest island and the only inhabited area, with some parts developed.
- π’ Island accommodation: Silk Mermaid Island Resort, the only hotel on the island.
- π Sea and beach: Sapi Island, being further away, has better quality sea water and beaches, while Mermaid Island, despite its trailing sandy beaches, may have its experience affected by the presence of coral and shell fragments, although this does not affect taking beautiful photos.
- π’ Entertainment and dining: Sapi Island has more activities, while Mermaid Island has its own restaurant and small pub (slightly pricey), with no nightlife, only the sound of the waves to listen to, enjoying a peaceful night.
πΈ Despite the bumpiness, the beauty of Mermaid Island remains unforgettable. If you seek tranquility and beautiful scenery and are willing to endure some bumpiness, then this might be a good choice. But please remember, safety first, choosing the right boat and weather to travel is crucial.
π Before deciding, be sure to think thrice. I hope my guide can help your trip be both safe and full of surprises!

Mantanani Island ποΈ
This island was the most cheapest and truly worth to the price which I never met before. This island is still new for all, everything is still good in condition, not like other islands been destroyed.
However, donβt put too much expectation on food. Because of MCO, they changed the package which not included lunch and dinner. which is mean that, dinner and lunch you have to pay yourself haha.
