When you are in you can miss Bondi beach but you simply cannot miss Manly. Make a whole trip from it by taking the ferry from Circular Quay that gives you great views of the Harboue Bridge and the Opera House. After you've taken a swim, take a break at one of the many restaurants available and take a walk to Shelly Beach. If you stay the day, take a sunset cruise on the ferry back to the city for some stunning views.
Manly Beach is definitely a place to visit on your trip to Sydney that you will never get bored
Shelly Beach - Manly, Australia
A small beach tucked away south of Manly. The waters are calm which makes it perfect for swimming. Shelly beach is known to host several species of marine life, which makes it an attraction amongst local and tourists to snorkel. Located next to the beach is a local cafe/restaurant where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is definitely a great alternative for a more cozy experience of some of the finest Australian beaches.

Exploring the Historic Inner Middle Head Battery
#australiatrip
A visit to the Inner Middle Head Battery in Sydney Harbour National Park is a fascinating journey through history. This site, part of the Middle Head fortifications, offers a glimpse into Australia’s military past with its well-preserved trenches, tunnels, and gun emplacements. The walk to the battery is relatively short and easy, making it accessible for most visitors. Along the way, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the harbour and surrounding cliffs, adding a scenic backdrop to your exploration. The fortifications themselves are intriguing, with some tunnels still accessible, allowing you to imagine the strategic importance of this site during its operational years
Sydney Whale Watching Guide! Whale watching by boat or on land, no need to worry about seasickness!
Whale watching by boat is a traditional tourist activity in Sydney. Both locals and tourists choose this outdoor activity. You can choose from Sydney Adventure Cruises, OceanDreaming 2 (if you have enough time and want to sit comfortably and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way, choose this one), and Totally Wild Cruise.
In addition to whale watching by boat, there are also many great land-based whale watching spots around Sydney. There are over 860 national parks and nature reserves in New South Wales, some of which are the best spots for whale watching. If you get seasick or are afraid of water, you can refer to these spots. Of course, whether you can see whales depends on your luck.
Sydney Harbour National Park: This park in Manly has many swimming areas, jungle trails, and picnic areas. With such rich resources, you will definitely have a great time. Now you can also watch these lively creatures, which is truly unforgettable.
Barrenjoey Lighthouse: North Head, not far from Manly, is a popular spot for locals and tourists. The higher you stand, the farther you can see. Barrenjoey Lighthouse not only offers stunning views but also the spectacular sight of migrating humpback whales.
Cape Solander: Kamay Botany Bay National Park, south of Sydney, is another great spot for whale watching.
Royal National Park: The National Park near Hurstville always offers different scenery every time you visit. There are countless whale watching spots along the sandstone cliffs of the coastline. Bring some food for a picnic, and you might see whales leaping out of the water right in front of you. It's an amazing experience!
Ferry to Manley Beach
#ferrytrip
Taking the ferry from Sydney's Circular Quay, near the iconic Opera House, to Manly Beach is a beautiful and scenic experience. The ferry ride provided some of the best views of Sydney Harbour, including the Opera House itself, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and the sparkling city skyline. This journey, lasting about 30 minutes, offered a chance to relax and enjoy the panoramic harbor views.
As we cruised across the harbor, the city faded into the distance, and the fresh sea breeze hits you.
The ferry docks at Manly Wharf, and a short stroll through lively streets led to the beach. Manly has its own vibe—a mix of beach town charm and surfer energy. Whether you grab fish and chips, catch some waves, or just sink your feet into the sand, it’s a perfect escape from the city that’s just a half-hour ferry ride away.

Whistler Street in Manly, Australia is truly a foodie's paradise! The pizza at Whistler Street Pizza Manly had a thin, crispy crust and was full of flavor, making each bite satisfying. We finished our food tour at Benbry Burger, where the juicy patty and fresh ingredients made for a perfect meal. The food tour on Whistler Street was unforgettable and absolutely delicious.

Sunshine and beaches, beach volleyball and gourmet food.
Every time I talk to friends about going to Sydney, they always ask the same question: Bondi or Manly?
This is the million-dollar question. In my opinion, since you've come all the way to Australia, why choose one over the other? Why not both?
Let's start with Manly Beach this time. With a long, straight coastline, the beach itself stretches for 1.5 kilometers, offering plenty of space to play. Whether you're building sandcastles, watching others play beach volleyball, or just lying down to soak up the sun, it's all very enjoyable.
After having fun, grab a burger and a drink at The Pantry Manly by the beach, and you'll be delighted!

Manly Beach and Ferry ⛴️ in Winter Sydney
Written by a tourist who visited there for the first time
• At the weekends, at Manly Beach, there is a market from 9 am to 4:30 pm (during summer until 5 pm).
•Despite the weekends, there are always tasty gelato shops and nice specialty shops to visit.
From Circular Quay ferry station, I got on a ferry to Manly Beach. The travelling time was about 20 minutes, and a good point is that you can view a beautiful Australian sea and the Sydney Opera House above the deck, though nighttime in winter it’s a bit chilly to be outside. It was my first time to get on the ferry, but I’d like to try again. From the Manly wharf to the beach, there are nice shops on both sides of the road, so it took over 30 mins for me but normally should be 5-8 mins. Many gelato shops were there, and I ate one of them which was so tasty, so it must be hard to choose which flavour to eat… Sadly, I couldn’t see the sunset from the beach only the beautiful colored clouds. I’m not sure, but I wondered if I were getting on the ferry during the sunset.
Also, I recommend bringing a coat if you visit in winter and planning to eat the delicious gelato!
I went there nearly at sunset time, and I found a hotel there. Because I had already booked a hotel at a different place, I couldn’t stay, but it seemed a good location to stay.
However, the way back to the Circular Quay was also nice, due to Sydney city lights after the sunset.
North Head city view
Beautiful day to take a walk at North Head
Lovely Manly Beach
Come spend a couple of nights at the famous Manly Beach of Sydney! You will find the tranquility in the morning, bustling in the daytime, charming at night. Stroll along the neighborhood you will find the International College of Management, Sydney which is established in 1996. It is located in the ”Manly Castle “ , which was a seminary in the past. The campus was used for exterior shots in the 2013 film, The Great Gatsby.
Sydney: The Explorer's City
If you're looking for a city that you can lost in, feel like a local and treated as a celebrity - #Sydney could be your town.
Australia's largest city has more than 650 suburbs to explore, the harbour city has everything you crave.
Become a #Sydneysider and take the train to places including the Blue Mountains or Ku-ring-gai Chase National park, rich in indigenous #Australian history, ride a famous Sydney ferry to Taronga zoo, Manly or just cruise the world's largest natural harbour.
Manly Beach
#beachlife
For me the most beautiful beach in the Sydney area. The broad promenade with the iconic pines und the beach with a surf school and many beach volleyball fields are perfect for sports or relaxing. The wooden pavilions are signs of Manly beach history as the place to be for the 1900s high society. Manly beach is my absolute favorite also in comparison to Bondi beach.
Sydney Harbour National Park

Sydney must-visit photo spot📸--The Wormhole at Manly Beach and Don't Jump Rock
The beauty here is breathtaking! Highly recommend choosing a sunny day to go, the photos taken when the sun is shining are incredibly beautiful📷! Recommend driving there~If departing from the City, you can board the ferry at Circular Quay.
Transportation method🚌: Opal card/single ticket $9.7, get off at Manly (about 10 minutes), then take a taxi directly to the wormhole.
Photo tips📷: Once you reach the rocky clearing, make sure to take a set of beautiful photos, the seascape really soothes the soul.
To enter the wormhole, you need to go through a stone cave, the path is a bit dangerous, and there are puddles, so be careful! Remember to bring a flashlight.
Second stop: Don't Jump Rock🧗♀️
Don't Jump is simply too beautiful, even more photogenic than the wormhole! Also, be careful when going down to take photos.
Ladies, remember to wear non-slip comfortable shoes👠.
Australia's seas are really beautiful, highly recommended to everyone!🤩

Hidden Gem in Manly
#sydneytrip
The Manly Art Gallery and Museum is a hidden gem. it is a small gallery of well curated exceptional art. Better than some galleries in major cities.
It is a unique and treasured gem on the beautiful Northern Beaches. It always has interesting art pieces for every visitor
It's location and the views of the Harbour beach and ferry wharf are unbeatable. In addition to temporary exhibitions the gallery boasts a permanent collection of art and objects relating to the district that are fascinating culturally.
A visit is highly recommended and it is also a good place to escape the hot afternoons sun for free.
spooky ghost tour
highly recommend the ghost tour at Q station. Q station was originally used as a quarantine station and hospital for people arriving into Australia. The tour takes you through the history of the place and how people were treated as well as the stories of ghosts, paranormal activity and experience of people who have seen things whilst staying or visiting the site. Each tour is different and very fun and spooky.
