Hiking to Phakding in Nepal
Hiking from Lukla to Phakding in Nepal is just a small 7.8km trail, but it is the altitude that will bring you fatigue, I flew in from Kathmandu to Lukla and the body experienced a change of close to double from 1,400m to 2,860m and for someone from Singapore where the highest hill in Singapore is Bukit Timah Hill which stands at 164m in altitude, that change can kill anyone who isn't able to adapt to it.

Magnificent Route Lukla to Phakding
The first day of actual trekking is a gentle start from Lukla with just three hours hike to the village of Phakding. The trek is mainly downhill through Rhododendrons, Magnolia trees, and pine forests.
We were also fascinated by the simple yet appealing architectures of the settlement festooned with prayer flags, mani stones, and prayer wheels. I also spotted the highest Starbucks cafe up on the mountain.
Phakding is a small village in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It lies in the Dudh Kosi river valley just north of Lukla and south of Monjo, at an altitude of 2,610 m, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979 (wikipedia, 2015)

✈️The Scariest Flight I Ever Took : Flying into Lukla Airport
#getgoing2025 #Luklaairport #nepal
If you're looking for a heart-pounding adventure, booking a flight to Lukla Airport in Nepal— infamously known as the "world's most dangerous airport" —should be at the top of your list. This year, I decided to take the plunge, and let me tell you, it was both terrifying and exhilarating.
The journey started at Kathmandu's domestic terminal, where the tiny twin-engine plane waiting for us was a stark reminder that this wouldn't be your typical flight. As we took off, the mountains came into view, and my initial excitement quickly gave way to nervous laughter. The plane felt like it was dancing in the turbulence, and every bump had me clutching my seat for dear life.
And then, there it was-Lukla's notorious runway.
It's a mere 527 meters long and slopes uphill, ending abruptly at a cliff. The pilot maneuvered the plane with surgical precision, and as we touched down, I let out a breath I didn't realize l'd been holdina.
The experience was equal parts terrifying and awe-inspiring, but stepping off the plane with the towering Himalayas around me made it all worth it.
Flying into Lukla isn't just a journey-it's a badge of courage. Would I do it again? Maybe... after a strong chai.

Namaste!
I went on the Nepal ABC trek.
The mountains were so beautiful and magnificent, and Nepal was more underdeveloped than I thought. The people were kind and gave me a faint but warm smile. It was a trip that made me think a lot about many things.
