Church of the Knights of Santiago
Andalusia Tour ~ Cordoba (Region)
This cathedral is in Gothic-Mudéjar style and was built in the 16th century. The church was founded in 1503 by Garci Méndez de Sotomayor, commander of the Knights of Santiago. Until 1891, it served as a satellite church of San Mateo Parish. The church is rectangular in plan and divided into three naves by octagonal columns supporting pointed arches framed by an alfiz. The church is covered with artesonado (Spanish ceiling). The roof is gabled. The access to the church is through a low arch decorated with scalloped details and a doorpost consisting of composite columns. The obverse has an image of Santiago. Declared a Historic-Artistic Monument.

Rare Baroque civil architectural style
Andalusia Tour ~ Cordoba (Region)
Cordoba is a magnificent jewel of Baroque civil architecture. It was recently restored and converted into a museum and visitor center for the town of Lucena.
This was a palace or manor belonging to a prominent local family. Two aspects are particularly striking: first, the facade features Baroque columns and capitals in veined marble from Cabra that decorate the doors and windows on both floors;
Second, the interior is organized around two arcaded courtyards, one of which features a Baroque staircase decorated with 18th-century tiles from Seville. It is covered by a Rococo dome and the decorative plaster work depicts architectural motifs and noble coats of arms.
Restoration work ended in March 2011, and the rooms of the Lucena Visitor Center were opened, resulting in the discovery of a sculpture of the Roman god Cupid, as well as some neoclassical frescoes.

The only place in Spain where communication is done in Hebrew
Andalucia Tour ~ Cordoba (Region)
This is a place that surprised me. The ticket is 3.5 euros (including audio guide), and the girl who received us was very friendly.
This place is the only one that has been completely Hebrew (Jewish) for four centuries and is really quite interesting. With the disappearance of the Kingdom of Granada, it was converted into a palace residence for the Lucena family. Today, it houses the city's Tourism Development and Information Office.

Another large city in the Cordoba region
Andalusia Tour ~ Cordoba (Region)
The second most populous city in the province of Cordoba. It offers a lot to its visitors from its history and heritage to its impressive surroundings.
In Lucena we can find the Church of San Mateo, built in the 15th-16th century in Gothic-Renaissance style, with one of the most beautiful Baroque sanctuaries in Andalusia. Civilian buildings include the Castle and the Old Palace of Medinaceli, the House of the Counts of Santa Ana and the House of Rico de Rueda. Furthermore, within the town limits we find many interesting areas such as the Amarga Lagoon Natural Reserve, the Jarales Lagoon Natural Reserve and the Malpacillo Reservoir Natural Park.
