Many people go to Dresden for cultural and historical landmarks, but driving just an hour further lies a true beauty of nature - the Bastei bridge. This rock formation is nestled in the Elbe sandstone mountains, 194m above the Elbe River, in an area known as Saxon Switzerland. Breathtaking views are everywhere, especially in fall 🍂🍃, but for me the best experience is having lunch and cocktails at the Bastei Berghotel and panorama restaurant. Regional trains ("S-Bahn") connect Dresden and Saxon Switzerland at least every 30 minutes during the day. They stop in Pirna, Obervogelgesang, Stadt Wehlen, Kurort Rathen, Königstein and Bad Schandau. To me, the easiest way to get to Bastei from Dresden is by S-Bahn getting out at Kurort Rathen station, then taking a short ferry boat ride across the Elbe and hiking up to Bastei and Bastei Bridge. Bastei & Bastei Bridge, the highlights of Saxon Switzerland in Germany are free of charge! There are no opening or closing times. The area is not fenced. Breathtaking views over Bastei Bridge, Germany

During a multi-country trip I passed by Bastei bridge in Lohmen, Germany, an architectural masterpiece with amazing views. The trip started at Wrocław airport in Poland visiting Wieliczka mine, Auschwitz-Birkenau II concentration camp, then Czech Republic visiting Prague and Terezín Memorial (worth visiting as part of a tour after Auschwitz) then Germany visiting Berlin and Bastei bridge on my way to Dresden airport. #100WaysOfTravel

In the Bastei town of Saxony in eastern Germany, there is a small Swiss national park in Saxony, a leisurely river and mountains at the foot of the mountain, while hiking to the mountains with a strange Cretaceous erosion landscape... / Hh/From Dresden, take the train, about 1 hour drive, you can go back and forth on the same day, it is good to go to a forest for aerobic hiking! All the way along the river and the small town under the mountains, don't sit in the station, or you may come to the Czech Republic if you take a nap~
