Climb up to the crater to enjoy the view from above

We boarded a large ferry in Milazzo, a small coastal town in Sicily, and headed for the small island of Vulcano. After nearly two hours of boat ride, we arrived before we knew it! The name of the island is Vulcano, which means volcano (very similar to Volcano [English]). 💗On this small island with an area of only 20 square kilometers, there are already 4 small volcanoes. The tallest one is a dormant volcano, Vulcano della Fossa, which is about 390 meters high.
Vulcano della Fossa is not too high, and you can see the top of the mountain from the entrance. It takes about an hour and a half to walk to the point where you can see the crater. The mountain road is covered with soft black volcanic ash, and it feels like walking on the beach. The scenery along the way is beautiful, and if you climb a little higher, you can enjoy the blue coastline.
The entire trail is very wide and just a little sloping, so even if you don't have much hiking experience, you can still complete it smoothly. The whole hill is covered with yellow flowers. The bright yellow flowers, charcoal black sand, and azure sea create a very sharp color contrast and are extremely beautiful.
Finally reached the crater!!! It is also the highest point on the island. The first time I looked down at the bottomless funnel-shaped crater from the top of the volcano, I was so surprised! Looking closely, I saw white smoke constantly coming out of the crater, which was very spectacular. The smell of sulfur is very strong. In addition to gray and black gravel, there are volcanic rocks of different colors around. 👍🏼Tourists can also continue walking and walk around the entire crater. However, the path will pass through places where steam is coming out. Be careful not to stop, because the gas is very hot and your ankles will be burned if you stop.
