2024 La-ngu Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Today's Weather
Mostly cloudy 25-33℃
At the Bridge Across Time
Adult admission is 20 baht, car parking is 20 baht
The atmosphere upon entering is pleasant, with the bridge offering a dimensional perspective. The long walkway extends with a view and a refreshing sea breeze. Along the way, you encounter uniquely colored stones and a sign marking the 'Time Crossing Zone' set against a backdrop of towering, majestic rocks. Further on, there's a rock formation resembling a beautiful whale. The place seems quite lush. The bridge walkway is reasonably long, but it's so enjoyable that you don't feel tired at all.
Recommended as the food was really Thai style
Papaya Mom Restaurant in Pak Bara Beach
Best food by far! I don’t understand why the rating is only at 4,1 (at the time of writing). I went there yesterday and then today again. I had the stir fried cashew chicken, the red thai curry seabass and the chicken larb salad! Every dish was just so tasty! The prices are great. The service is good. Not everyone speaks English but they do have staff that speak perfectly fine and they will come and help you out if their colleague doesn’t understand what you want. Also don’t get irritated if you’re waiting for someone to come around. The place is busy, so just raise your hand and ask for service. The food doesn’t take too long to be served! I highly recommend this place. I will go there tomorrow again

Ko Phetra is a junk-shaped island
Mu Ko Phetra is a marine national park in the Strait of Malacca off Thailand, covering mostly intact coastal line, open water, and about 30 islands of the southern part of Trang Province and the northern part of Satun Province. Established on 31 December 1984, it is the 49th national park and 14th marine national park of Thailand.
The Thai name Phetra comes from Malay Pulau Petra (the island of Petra).
The continued existence of the park is threatened by the proposed Pak Bara deepwater seaport

Mu Ko Phetra National Park
#hatyaitrip
It one of the many national parks in Thailand, one of three in Satun alone, consisting of land and islands sanctuary. The land part is a small hill with an amazing cliff formation, with boardwalk stretching 500-m from Pak Nam Beach to Ao Nun; both of which serve as the entrance to the park. There was no entrance fee when I was there even though the entrance boards say otherwise. Good for a simple walk since the locals use it for light jog. There is also a pathway to the top of the hill. The islands around the Pak Bara beach can only be accessable via the Pak Bara Piers by buying any package available there.

Island with Fossils at Ao Toa Ba
#travelanywhere
Did you know that the first UNESCO Global Geopark in Thailand is located in Satun? I am glad that I got the chance to explore these places at Pak Bara during my trip here, Ao Toa Ba being one of them.
📍Ao Toa Ba
We took a long boat ride to Ao Toa Ba beach from Pak Bara at La-Ngu District, to check out some nautilus fossils on the limestone rock mountain here. It is really interesting to see the fossils from the Paleolithic Age with my own eyes. At the same time, we got to picnic at the beach with some local food that the guides prepared for us. I had a great time here with my friends!
Pakbara is a small yet significant location in southern Thailand, primarily serving as a transit point for travelers heading to the islands in the Andaman Sea. Here's a review of Pakbara based on various aspects:
1. **Accessibility and Convenience**
- **Pakbara Pier**: The main highlight of Pakbara is its pier, which is the departure point for boats and ferries to popular islands like Koh Lipe, Koh Tarutao, and Koh Adang. The pier is well-organized with ticket counters, waiting areas, and shops.
- **Transport**: Pakbara is easily accessible by road from nearby cities like Satun and Hat Yai. There are regular buses and taxis that connect Pakbara to these cities, making it convenient for travelers.
2. **Natural Beauty**
- **Beaches and Coastline**: While Pakbara itself has a modest beach, the real draw is its proximity to stunning islands with pristine beaches, clear waters, and vibrant marine life.
- **Mangroves and Wildlife**: The surrounding mangrove forests are ecologically significant and offer opportunities for wildlife spotting and nature walks.
3. **Accommodations and Amenities**
- **Hotels and Guesthouses**: Pakbara has a range of accommodations from budget guesthouses to more comfortable hotels. Most accommodations are basic but sufficient for a short stay before heading to the islands. We stayed at Bara Bara Budget Satun and we are very satisfied with the hotel in overall.
- **Restaurants and Shops**: There are several restaurants offering Thai cuisine and seafood, as well as shops selling necessities, souvenirs, and travel essentials. We had our breakfast at Bara roti which is just a 5mins walk from our hotel and foods are scrumptiously delicious.
4. **Activities and Attractions**
- **Island Hopping**: The main activity is taking boat trips to nearby islands, which offer excellent opportunities for snorkeling, diving, hiking, and relaxing on beautiful beaches.
- **Local Exploration**: Exploring the local area, including visits to waterfalls and mangrove forests, can be quite rewarding for nature enthusiasts.
5. **Overall Atmosphere**
- **Quiet and Laid-Back**: Pakbara has a relaxed and laid-back vibe, making it a peaceful stopover. It's not a bustling tourist destination in itself, but it provides a necessary and pleasant transition to the more popular island destinations.

Boat trip to Prasat Hin Pun Yod, Khao Yai Island.🏝️
#familytrips2024
Taking a boat ride to Prasat Hin Phanom Yod was a scenic and serene experience that set the tone for an unforgettable day. After docking, I explored the intricately carved sandstone structures and peaceful grounds, taking in the rich history and culture of the site.
Next, I kayaked through the surrounding waterways, paddling past lotus flowers and spotting local wildlife. The kayak trip offered a unique perspective on the temple and its surroundings, and I felt a deep connection to the natural and cultural heritage of the region.

Khao To Ngai Geological Time Boundary
#songkran2024 Got there on a nice sunny day. A little hot but the wind and the shades help along the boardwalk. Wanted to see some monkeys as the sign says they inhabit there. Didn’t see one. Maybe there were napping. Went up to the top of the hill following a tight hiking trail. It was during low and rainy season so the trail was a little difficult due to lack of maintenance I think. My friend is a little big so he had a bit of a hard time navigating through trees and branches along the trail. Viewpoint was nice though. Quiet and serene with the breeze and ocean underneath.

My trip to Pak Bara, Thailand. I stayed at Lake Terrace Hotel for 2 nights and enjoy the view of the sea. We walked to National Park which was nearby the hotel and paid 400 baht (4 people) to enter inside. The photos shared were during our morning walk.

Touring Satun Province in southern Thailand, check in at the Thai version of Graphite Park
During this trip to Satun Province in southern Thailand, we visited the Prasat Hin Pan Yod rock formations, whose Thai name means 'Castle of a Thousand Stones'. The Prasat Hin Pan Yot is located on Ko Khao Yai in the Mu Ko Phetra National Park of Satun Province.
Our group of six spent 9,900 Thai baht to charter a boat to go there, sailing through the Strait of Malacca and witnessing the charm of the Thai coastline. About an hour later, we arrived at the Prasat Hin Pan Yod, where the spectacular limestone boulders came into view. From the air, it looks like a castle made of thousands of boulders, resisting the erosion of the sea.
During low tide, we got into the kayaks arranged by the boatman, ducking our heads to paddle through the caves, like a Thai version of 'Peach Blossom Land'. The towering limestone boulders envelop a world of their own, with crystal clear waters, drifting jellyfish, coconut trees growing on the boulders, and more. Fossils of ancient creatures from 450 million years ago are right before our eyes~
The Castle of a Thousand Stones is located within the Satun Geopark in Thailand, which was listed as a Global Geopark by UNESCO in 2018. It is recommended to spend half a day visiting~
ps:
✅ Remember to apply sunscreen
✅ The trip includes meals, which are quite good
✅ The visiting time is about 3-5 hours
✅ Beware of jellyfish to avoid getting stung
✅ Follow the arrangements of the guide and boatman
✅ In Thailand, drones must be registered, otherwise, you may face heavy penalties
Yummy Food in the Jungle
In the middle of the jungle somewhere in the mountain of La-ngu District, Satun, the southern province of Thailand we can find a delicious food in the Halal Specifications. The food is awesome with friendly staff. The Engthan restaurant is famous for its delicious food not only in the province but in the south of Thailand as well.#mytripvlog #Satuntourism #Restaurant #halalfood #amazingthailand
Khap Samut Cafe & Eatery
The cafe is really nice. Very calm yet very elegance to enjoy your brunch with friends and family. Delicious food, I love grilled chicken salad and seabass burger here! Gelato is very good also, not too sweet. I’d rather suggest Strawberry Cheese Cake. There’s also cold pressed juice, I personally like their “Healthy Eye” recipe, so fresh to have while enjoying the sunset on the cafe’s outdoor zone.
it’s a beach access cafe’ so you can take a late afternoon stroll by the ocean!
New place in Pakbara, highly recommend!!! #cafe #pakbara
Nice place to stay in Pakbara 🇹🇭
Modern & luxury hotel @ Pakbara
Innblog hotel is nice and very relaxing. Not too noisy even near the side of the road. We have joined the tour for island hopping and snorkelling. The breakfast is good & delicious. Have swimming pool for kids at our room, safety for kids. Im really recommend here, nice view, near shops over there just walking out.
Sunset at Pak Bara beach in Satun Province
After my trip to Koh Lipe I experienced a very beautiful sunset. When I arrived at the beach, the boats were still floating and some still operating.
But Low tide developed until the water was gone in late afternoon... That was a very beautiful event I witnessed😍
Dont miss this spot when in Pak Bara😁
Muslim Breakfast at Pak bara
We tried breakfast at Pak bara beach. The stall is just near to 7-Eleven Pak bara. There are variety of foods like Plain Roti, Banana Roti, and Egg Roti. They Also have a lot of kuih/sweets. I tried most of it and its very delicious and cheap.
The only problems is communication because they don’t really understand english but we managed to got all the orders😂.

We had a very good rest, got a lot of pleasure from visiting.
Reviews about the restaurant,
One of the few really "delicious" places in the satun. Had a great time with a group of 6 people. The food is great! Especially liked the dishes with cheese - it's just a miracle. The ice cream cake just melted in your mouth. Banana-passion fruit tea is also recommended - a very unusual combination. When we arrived, the restaurant was just full, but for our company we immediately found a table, which was very nice. Also appreciated the presence of towels on the table. cool.
#staycation#foodie
The prices are expensive, But it's worth it this Marina restaurant is very cool similar to a European restaurant, great great beers, very nice staff. Yes, the price is expensive, but it's definitely worth it. Visit this restaurant. Very cool. Thank you.
#awesomepic
The beach is far from being suitable for swimming; more warships are in the port. You can just come to see AND breathe in the fresh sea air, but for relaxation and B for a beach holiday, this beach is not suitable at all.#gooutside
