#2024TravelReview
When talking about tourist destinations in Austria, the first thing that comes to most people's mind is usually famous cities such as Vienna and Salzburg. However, in the western part of Austria, there is a small town that is equally attractive - that is Kufstein. This ancient city not only has a long history and cultural heritage, but also has charming natural scenery. I had the pleasure of visiting here recently and had an unforgettable time in this small town.
Arrival in Kufstein
Just an hour's drive from the German border, I arrived in Kufstein. As soon as I got off the car, I was attracted by the scene in front of me - a towering castle standing on a high hill, with extraordinary momentum. The surrounding cities exude a laid-back, rural atmosphere, with tree-lined streets sparsely populated by pedestrians. This is the goal of my trip - Kufstein, a city that combines history, nature and ancient culture.
I walked along the winding path to the castle and gazed up at its majestic appearance. This ancient castle, built in the 13th century, was once an important military defense fortress. I took a rest in front of the castle gate and admired the surrounding scenery. This city is truly unique - the ancient castle ruins, combined with the modern cityscape, form a unique picture.
Explore the castle
After a simple security check, I stepped into Kufstein Castle. As soon as you enter the castle gate, a strong historical atmosphere hits you. I walked along the winding internal passage, and the stone brick floor under my feet creaked from time to time, as if telling of the long years it had carried.
Passing through the rooms and exhibition halls, I was amazed at the exquisite architectural structure here. The castle was originally a fortress guarding the border. It was later rebuilt and expanded many times, presenting a variety of architectural styles. Some of the halls are majestic, exuding the heroic spirit of the Middle Ages; others are decorated extremely elegantly, highlighting the luxury of aristocratic life.
What I remember most is climbing the tower to the top of the castle. I walked up the narrow stone steps carefully, my heart beating faster and faster. Finally reaching the top of the tower, the view in front of me suddenly became clear - the panoramic view of the city was in full view, and the rolling snow-capped mountains in the distance added a touch of moving charm. I took a deep breath, feeling the fresh air, and my heart calmed down. Overlooking the entire Kufstein from this commanding height, I seem to understand more deeply the important position of this castle in history.
While savoring the beauty of the castle, I couldn't help but imagine the historical scene that once existed here. Inside the silent and solemn castle, one can still seem to feel the majesty and solemnity of the past. I was immersed in this historical sentiment and couldn't extricate myself for a long time. Finally, I reluctantly left this ancient fortress.
Experience hospitality
After visiting the castle, I took a leisurely stroll along the streets of the town. There is a unique atmosphere here - quaint and peaceful, like a paradise on earth.
I passed a local tavern. When I opened the door, I heard cheerful music from inside, which made me feel refreshed instantly. When the owner saw me, he warmly invited me in and sat down. Without hesitation, I found a seat by the window. After a while, the owner brought me a glass of rich local beer and started chatting with me enthusiastically.
Here, I felt the strong hospitality of the people of Kufstein. They always took the initiative to talk to me and asked about my itinerary with concern. Even though I was just a tourist passing by, they still treated me like a friend. This kind of warm human touch undoubtedly made me feel particularly relaxed both physically and mentally. Time seems to have stopped here, and I feel like I am in a small world isolated from the world.
After leaving the pub, I continued to stroll leisurely in the town. I saw passers-by smiling and greeting me, which made me feel like I was bathed in spring breeze. The people here lead a leisurely life and are full of enthusiasm and contentment towards life. This simple lifestyle is really what modern urbanites yearn for. I couldn't help but sigh that in this ancient little town, life and human touch could be presented so touchingly.
Explore the charm of nature
Although Kufstein is famous for its long history and culture, it also has breathtaking natural scenery. After taking in the rich historical atmosphere, I decided to explore the other side of this city - its natural wonders.
I first came to the Inn River, not far from the city center. This clear, green river surrounds the entire city, injecting vitality and vigor into it. I strolled along the winding path along the river, and my body and mind relaxed with the gurgling water of the river. From time to time, tourists passed by me, some riding bicycles, some taking a slow walk, all with comfortable expressions. This is undoubtedly an urban oasis in the city, allowing people to find a piece of pure land in the hustle and bustle of the city.
Leaving the riverside, I continued towards the mountains. The forests here are lush and green, like a green natural barrier. I climbed up the mountain along the winding path, my steps were difficult but exciting. As the altitude rises, the surrounding scenery becomes more beautiful and magnificent - the snow-capped mountains in the distance stand tall and majestic, and the streams nearby flow through them. I walked carefully on the rugged mountain road, feeling the infinite charm of nature.
Finally, I came to a viewing platform on a high ground. From here, I overlook the entire city of Kufstein and the mountains in the distance. This breathtaking landscape painting made me hold my breath and stare at it. Breathing the fresh air here, my mind becomes peaceful. This is undoubtedly the purest and most beautiful side of Kufstein, and the most precious gift bestowed by nature to mankind.
Enjoy authentic local cuisine
After fully immersing yourself in the history, culture and beauty of nature, tasting the authentic local cuisine is naturally an experience not to be missed. As a small town with a long history, Kufstein naturally has a unique food tradition.
I first went to a cozy family restaurant and tasted the famous "Tiroler Gröstl". This is a traditional dish originating from the Tyrol region, made from fried potatoes, onions, bacon and other ingredients. The first bite I tried was the fragrant fried potatoes, paired with the salty and delicious bacon, which made me praise it again and again. This warm and rich taste is undoubtedly the delicacy that best satisfies the appetite of travelers.
Another day, I visited a fine coffee shop to taste "Strudel". This is a classic Austrian roll cake with a sweet apple or cherry filling wrapped in a flaky puff pastry. I took a gentle bite and felt the crispy outer layer and the soft and juicy inner layer, which made me savor it bite after bite. Paired with a cup of strong coffee, this afternoon tea feels like being in an exquisite cafe in Vienna.
I also tried some local beers. There is a small brewery here that uses traditional techniques to brew a variety of unique beers. I particularly like their wheat beer, which is refreshing and has a light citrus aroma. After one sip, I felt as if I was in the fields, refreshed. These authentic local delicacies have undoubtedly deepened my understanding and love for this small town.
Immerse yourself in culture and art
In addition to its profound historical heritage and charming natural scenery, Kufstein also has a strong cultural and artistic heritage. This was another highlight of my trip.
First, I visited the city's art museum. Various outstanding contemporary art works are displayed here, including paintings, sculptures, installations and other forms. What impressed me most was a group of large-scale installation art works created using recycled materials. It is made up of thousands of plastic bottles, shining with colorful colors under the light and shadow. I stared at it for a long time and felt the artist's deep concern for environmental protection. This visit not only satisfied my aesthetic needs, but also gave me a new understanding of the city's cultural undertakings.
I also had the opportunity to attend a folk music concert hosted by a local music group. Artists dressed in traditional costumes played melodious and moving tunes with various folk instruments. These musics with rich national characteristics made me immersed in them, as if I had traveled through time and space back to the distant past. Here, I truly felt the rich cultural heritage of Kufstein, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of respect and admiration in my heart.
Finally, I attended a craft workshop led by local artisans. Under the guidance of my instructor, I learned to make a unique wood carving handicraft. While focusing on the creation process, I experienced the fun and charm of handicrafts. When I finally completed the work, I felt a sense of accomplishment and was sincerely grateful for the opportunity to participate in such a vivid and interesting cultural experience.
Reluctant to leave
In a blink of an eye, this journey of exploration of Kufstein came to an end. However, this small town has left an indelible mark in my heart.
From its rich history and culture to its breathtaking natural scenery and rich cultural and artistic atmosphere, Kufstein is undoubtedly a city with unique charm. Every place amazed me, as if I was in a small world isolated from the world.
What I remember most is the warm and friendly local residents here. Whether it was the cordial hospitality in the pub or the nods and smiles of passers-by on the street, they all made me feel the strong human touch here. It is because of their existence that this small town exudes
