Kinmen trip - a journey through history
Kinmen is not big, so you can do it thoroughly in three days, but it is really good to enjoy the atmosphere. You can see Taiwan from the Juguang Tower, you can walk around the Mosaic Sea, and you can eat local noodles, sugar candies and beef. Go ahead, rent a motorcycle, it’s really suitable. It’s hot but not stuffy here, and every place is filled with historical stories. Even if you’re not interested in history, you can still take a romantic stroll in the sorghum fields. You can also go to the beach at night to chase blue tears. No matter day or night, there are unexpected surprises here.
My bestie and I have been friends for more than ten years. After graduation, we have always had a little tradition of taking a bestie trip every year.
When my best friend chose Kinmen this time, I actually resisted in my heart. Maybe it was because of the inconvenient transportation on the outer islands and the fact that it was a hot area. Since I have little interest in history, I really couldn’t be interested. Unable to resist the efforts of my best friend to recommend it, and with all the hard work, we headed to Kinmen and embarked on the most unforgettable mysterious trip of my year.
When I got off the plane, I was amazed by the gentle breeze blowing. I have lived in Kaohsiung for a long time, and the harsh summer always brings a slightly sticky sea breeze. I actually experienced a completely different climate in the stereotypical Kinmen. It was a The sunshine is warm but not scorching, and the refreshing breeze blows, but it does not bring the humidity that an island should have.
Before I came, my suitcase was filled with all kinds of sunscreen oil and mosquito repellent lotion. It was only during this trip that I was surprised to find these two cans intact and unopened in the suitcase.
Kinmen is like a mysterious woman, with a heavy story and a beautiful style. History has left many traces here. She still stands there perseveringly, silently flowing her blue tears into the ocean in the dark night. .
She is also a woman with delicate thoughts. At every street corner, the inconspicuous oil and electricity boxes leave unique patterns of Kinmen; she is also a chef full of creativity, and the seemingly inconspicuous ingredients are found here. With a special name and unique approach.
Her beauty has nothing to do with the wind and the moon. Only through many stories can she have the unique charm of every inch of land.
Whether it is a popular tourist attraction or not, or even just walking around a certain town, you can leave your worries behind in an instant and indulge in this space that overlaps with the times.
In Kinmen, I think the prices are on par with Taipei, and some are even more expensive than Taipei. But in the outlying island areas, it is understandable that supplies are scarce, so if you want to eat cheaply, you can go to chain stores, the prices are similar to those on the main island. However, it is highly recommended to try some unique foods such as "Egg Dog" and "Sorghum Milk Tea". Not cheap, but really fun.
Direct flights from Kaohsiung to Kinmen are not expensive, and if you want to bring more souvenirs, the shipping charges are reasonable and cheap, so you don’t have to worry about buying!
