Phra That Yaku, Kalasin
Phra That Yaku is an ancient site in the northern part of Mueang Fa Daet Song Yang. It is estimated that it was built during the Dvaravati period, during the 12th–16th Buddhist centuries. Locals believe that Phra That Yaku enshrines the remains of a respected senior monk who founded the village, as the word “Yaku” is a title for monks in the ancient Isan region. When a monk is well-behaved and has been ordained for at least three years, the locals will invite him to perform a ritual bathing ceremony. After that, he will be promoted to the title “Yaku Yasa”. #ancientlandmark #visitingancientsites #northernIsanteam

Yaku Relic
#Songkran2024 tourist attractions Originally called "Phra That Yai", it is a stupa from the Dvaravati period (around the 13th-15th Buddhist century) located in the middle of a rice field to the north of Ban Sema, Kamalasai District.
Phra That Yaku or Phra That Yai is located in Tambon Kamalasai. It is the largest stupa in Mueang Fa Daet Song Yang, an ancient city since prehistoric times. It is an octagonal stupa made of bricks. There are 3 construction periods: the base is a square with recessed corners, with stairs in 4 directions, decorated with stucco, built in the Dvaravati period. Next up is an octagonal base built on top of the original base, in the form of a stupa from the Ayutthaya period. The bell-shaped body and the top were built in the Rattanakosin period. Around the stupa, there are bas-reliefs carved from sema stones depicting the life of the Buddha. Locals believe that the stupa contains the relics of a senior monk who was respected by the townspeople. It can be seen that when Chiang Som won the war, everything in Mueang Fa Daet Song Yang was destroyed, but Phra That Yaku was not destroyed. Therefore, it is an ancient site that is still relatively intact. The villagers organize the annual Phra That Yaku Bathing Ceremony in May to ask for rain and peace for the village.
