Kemi, located in the north of Finland, is famous for its SnowCastle, which is rebuilt every winter and stands as a marvel of ice architecture. I loved staying overnight in one of the snow rooms, complete with thermal sleeping bags. Don’t miss the SnowRestaurant, where even the tables are made of ice! Kemi is also the gateway to the Sampo Icebreaker, where you can take a cruise and even float in the freezing sea in a special suit.

Ice breaker cruise in Finnish Lapland
My ice floating experience in Lapland was incredible. The journey to the Gulf of Bothnia area is not that long, so you can take advantage of the time to watch from the outside (the temperature was -20 ºC). It was fascinating how the ship broke through the ice. Inside the cruise the environment is warm and you can enjoy hot drinks there. Passengers can also take a guided tour of the main points of the cruise, such as the engine room, the communications room, and control room. The most exciting part is when the cruise stops, then #bucketlist we can get off and take a walk over the frozen sea. Those who wish can also dive into the almost fresh water of the Baltic, wearing special rubber suits provided. The suits that you float in will keep you warm. We enjoyed floating in an icy sea about 1 minute. Best experience ever!

Snow Castle in Kemi, Finland is the world's largest snow castle. Since 1996, every winter, snow and ice sculpture artists have chosen different themes to design. In January, they were built with snow and Baltic ice, and melted back to nature in April.
It takes a little courage to stay in the snow castle. The room is only minus 5 °C, and the warm baby is wrapped in two sleeping bags to keep out the cold. It is the biggest test to go out to the bathroom at night. Of course, the next morning you will get a certificate of courage. Guests must be 10 in the morning
