Jhinu Danda Hike: A Himalayan Adventure
#mymymemories
Hiking to Jhinu Danda in Ghandruk, Nepal was a real adventure! Picture this: I'm on the trail, surrounded by the lush greenery of the Annapurna region, with the soothing sound of the Modi Khola river in the background. The trek was a bit of a challenge, with some steep sections, but the breathtaking views at every turn made it all worthwhile.
One of the coolest parts of the trek was meeting friendly locals and fellow trekkers along the way. There's something about the shared experience of hiking that creates an instant bond.
When I finally arrived at Jhinu Danda, I was in for a treat. The natural hot springs there are famous for a reason. After all that hiking, relaxing in those hot springs with the Himalayas in the backdrop was pure bliss. I felt like I was in paradise.
The village itself had a unique charm, with its traditional houses and the warm hospitality of the locals. It was a great opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture.
Looking back on my hike to Jhinu Danda, I can't help but smile. It was an adventure filled with natural beauty, a bit of physical challenge, and a whole lot of cultural enrichment. It's one of those experiences that I'll cherish forever.

Somewhere in the Great Himalaya Trail
Somewhere in the middle of this huge valley between Annapurna South (7,219m), Hiunchuli (6,441m) & Machhapuchhare (6,993m). Somewhere close to the clouds & the sky. Somewhere far from all the chaos, far from the necropolis. Somewhere that still possesses the vivid memories of impermanence.
Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a 6-8 days long moderately difficult trekking route in Annapurna Region, Nepal.

Annapurna Base Camp
Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the finest and most legendary experiences in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) brings trekkers face to face with the above eight-thousand-meter mountain peaks. The route to Annapurna Base Camp passes through the diverse terrain of the Annapurna region via the Annapurna Conservation Area. Waking through serene landscapes, enchanting Gurung and Magar villages, and lush green Rhododendron, bamboo, and alpine forests provides trekkers with a feeling of adventure.
In the Gandaki province of the Kaski district, the Annapurna Base Camp trek takes you through some surreal sightseeing of Nepal's diverse landscape and breathe stopping mountain sights. The journey to ABC begins with a drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu and Pokhara to Nayapul. Likewise, the trekking starts from Nayapul and passes through a charming area of Annapurna Conservation.
The highlight of the trek to Annapurna region is indeed the sight of snow-capped peaks. Mount Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Macchapucchre, Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, and Dhaulagiri, are visible during the trek to Annapurna Base Camp.

Pokhara Nepal
Pokhara is a city on Phewa Lake, in central Nepal. It’s known as a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular trail in the Himalayas. Tal Barahi Temple, a 2-story pagoda, sits on an island in the lake. On the eastern shore, the Lakeside district has yoga centers and restaurants. In the city’s south, the International Mountain Museum has exhibits on the history of mountaineering and the people of the Himalayas.#pokharanepal
Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal
Treated myself to a solo trek in Nepal for my 30th birthday earlier this year (March/April 2024) - no guide, no porter, no friends, just me & my 7kg backpack.
It was such an incredible, challenging, exhausting, beautiful, painful, rewarding multi-day hike. It was my first time hiking in high altitudes (4130m at base camp) and my longest multi-day hike I’d ever done before, but I’m so glad I pushed myself to my limits to experience the magic of the Nepalese Himalayas.

Enjoy a relaxing day hike in Bokara, a challenge even for beginners
If you're in Nepal but not yet ready to tackle the more advanced hiking trails, consider this beginner-friendly route. It only takes about half a day from the starting point to the campsite, where you can choose to spend a leisurely night in the great outdoors, enjoy the tranquility of nature, and wake up early the next day to watch the sunrise. If the weather is good, you might even be treated to a magnificent view of the snow-capped mountains.
How to get up the mountain
We made our plans last minute without any prior research, so we hired a local guide to lead us from the starting point to the campsite and back down the mountain. However, there are many signs to the Australian camp along the way, and if you can take a taxi/charter a car or take a bus to the hiking starting point shown in picture 2 (Australian camp starting point), you can follow the signs and use navigation to find your way up the mountain.
Is it difficult to climb the mountain?
The path up the mountain is mostly like what's shown in picture 3, and the difficulty level is probably similar to that of leisurely mountain hikes around cities in China, so it's not stressful for beginners. Along the way, you can also see animals like water buffaloes, goats, and monkeys, and we often stopped to take photos and look around, eventually completing the entire journey in just over two hours.
How to spend the night on the mountain
We stayed in an inn booked by our guide, and the mountain inns are generally like what's shown in picture 4, with basic accommodations that include a bed and utilities (with hot water), but you need to bring your own supplies. Although the meal options are limited and a bit expensive, they're not outrageously priced compared to what you'd find domestically. We chose to have a barbecue in the evening, and the charcoal fire brought a sense of warmth similar to sitting around a stove brewing tea on a quiet and cool mountain night. We also booked our breakfast for the next day in advance, and compared to the local Nepali food that we weren't quite used to, the breakfast was surprisingly tasty.
About the scenery
Unfortunately, it was a foggy day when we visited, so we didn't get to see the snow-capped mountains. However, travel always comes with its unexpected disappointments, and it's all about exploring and creating your own unique memories. The hazy mountain scenery can also give you a sense of a fairyland, lying on the grass near picture 1, looking at the vast white sky, the purity and silence that you let go of, guaranteeing an immediate sense of relaxation. If you're lucky enough to see the snow-capped mountains, you're sure to have another kind of impressive experience.
Conquering the Himalayas: The Ultimate Annapurna Base Camp Trek Adventure
Embarking on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life. From the moment I set foot in the vibrant city of Pokhara, I knew this adventure would be special. The serene lakes and panoramic mountain views were just the beginning.
As we left Pokhara, the trail led us through charming villages and terraced fields, each step bringing new sights and encounters. The hospitality of the Gurung and Magar communities was heartwarming, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of the region. Sharing stories and meals with the locals added a profound depth to the journey.
The trek itself was a feast for the senses. We passed through lush rhododendron forests and dense bamboo groves, the air filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the sounds of chirping birds. Each day brought new challenges and rewards, from the steep ascents to the breathtaking vistas that awaited us at higher elevations.
One of the highlights was reaching the village of Chomrong, perched on a hillside with spectacular views of the Annapurna range. The anticipation built as we approached the Hinku Cave, a dramatic landmark that signaled we were nearing our goal.
Reaching Annapurna Base Camp was a moment of pure triumph. At 4,130 meters (13,550 feet), surrounded by the towering peaks of Annapurna I and Machapuchare, I felt a profound sense of accomplishment. The serene beauty and the sheer scale of the Himalayas were humbling and awe-inspiring.
The return journey was just as captivating. We retraced our steps through the diverse landscapes, each familiar sight now imbued with the memories of our ascent. Relaxing in natural hot springs along the way was a welcome respite for our tired muscles.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek was more than just a trek; it was a journey of self-discovery, filled with unforgettable moments and breathtaking beauty. It’s an experience I will treasure forever, a testament to the allure and majesty of the Himalayas.#annapurnacircuittrek #nepal #himalayas

Mardi Himal Trek
When was the last time you were anywhere with clouds below you? If not, the Mardi Himal Trek will undoubtedly afford you this chance, so long as you're prepared to take it on.
Located in the Annapurna Region, Mardi Himal is the mountain that can be seen in the foreground under Machhapuchhre (6,993 meters). Before it was formally inaugurated in 2012, the trail was unknown to hikers; yet, it is now a frequently frequented location that can be finished quickly.
This trip takes you along a ridge trail that provides breathtaking views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges, which are to the west. The route begins at Kande, an upscale community perched on a hill; thereafter, it winds through a thick forest of oak and rhododendron trees in a mid-hilly region. Ascending the trail towards the north, you will find yourself near the mountain and away from the urbanized life below. After many days, crossing the lush woodland will lead to the open area designated as the indigenous people's pasture land. The sensation of enrapture will come next.
