The most beautiful hanging sculpture in Jingxin Temple.
Although the Manjusri Hall in Jingxin Temple is not large, it is full of hidden treasures and unique scenery. The hanging sculptures in the hall are well preserved and are considered the most beautiful hanging sculpture art treasures in Jingxin Temple. In the center of the hall, the main deity, Manjusri Bodhisattva, sits on a lion, while on both sides are a series of Arhat statues with different postures. Some are kind and gentle, some are quiet and contemplative, and some are cute and charming, each with its own characteristics. Looking around, the hanging sculpture elements such as mountains, rivers, trees, auspicious clouds, and flying phoenixes are cleverly arranged to create a wonderful atmosphere like a holy land.
In the upper layer of the hanging sculpture, the mountains are stacked, the clouds are swirling, and the pavilions are looming; in the lower layer, the images of the Arhats are vivid, as if they are quietly observing the world. These hanging sculptures are exquisite in craftsmanship and vivid in image, as if they are about to walk out of the wall and have a dialogue with the world across time and space. Although the Manjusri Hall is limited in size, it successfully creates a fascinating fairyland with its rich and exquisite hanging sculpture art and the clever spatial layout of the upper and lower layers.

A mural paradise, with everything you could want.
As we all know, the Northern Qi Dynasty Mural Museum in Taiyuan is built on top of the tomb of Xu Xianxiu.
But you can only look at it from a distance, you can't go in.
Is there a way to solve this problem?
The Jinzhiyuan Mural Art Museum in Jinzhong can perfectly solve this problem.
Here, there are not only murals from the tomb of Xu Xianxiu, but also the four major murals of China.
Beijing Fahai Temple, Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, Shijiazhuang Pilu Temple, and Yongle Palace in Yuncheng.
There are also exquisite murals from Yanshan Temple, Princess Temple, Guangsheng Temple, and Chongfu Temple in Shanxi.
Although they are all imitations, the authenticity is still very high.
Of course, there is a downside, which is the cost.
The entrance ticket is 60, the Yongle Palace special exhibition is 60, and the museum's real murals are 150.
The Shanxi annual pass can solve the 60 yuan entrance ticket.
I participated in their National Day event and entered the entrance ticket and Yongle Palace for free.
There was no crowd, only myself quietly communicating with the murals.
Transportation: There is a special bus 2 from Taiyuan South Station, and you can also take a bus from Taiyuan to Jinzhong, and after getting off, you can use the shared electric bikes to solve the problem. If you have time, you can also take a taxi to Yuci Ancient City (although it's average).

🌳Strolling through the gardens of the manor, the pavilions and towers are scattered, and the rockery and pools are reflected in each other. In the secluded paths, it seems that you can hear the laughter of the past and see the lively scenes of family gatherings. 🏞️
🕰️Chang Family Manor is not only an architectural treasure but also an epic of Shanxi merchant culture. It carries the glory and dreams of the family, standing tall despite the wind and rain. 💖

Industrial renovation is part of urban renewal. With the continuous development of the urban economy, old industrial plants need to adapt to the new development pace. They are no longer closed off, but open to the public, bringing life into the factory area. The new settlement divides life into categories, welcoming every guest from the living area, allowing them to rediscover the charm of ordinary life in the factory area, in the straightforward, hearty, self-centered, and self-assured atmosphere of the old industrial style.
Go Home Art Center was born.
It was formerly the Jingwei Textile Machinery Factory. The art center makes full use of the space in the factory workshop. The old objects on display, such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors, televisions, and sewing machines, make you feel like you have traveled back in time to the 1980s.
💚Exhibitions in the factory area:
Old car exhibition, tractor exhibition, bicycle and motorcycle exhibition, sewing machine exhibition, police culture museum, etc.
🧡There is also a People's Theater in the factory area, with audio and video film exhibitions, and a photo studio transformed from the remaining workshop machines, which is very nostalgic. Outside the theater, there is an egg carving intangible cultural heritage experience hall, where old craftsmen make egg carvings.
💚The innovation of Go Home Art Center not only preserves the heritage of industrial civilization, but also gives it new vitality: recalling the past and looking forward to a bright future.

Yong'an Temple Travel Guide.
I'm obsessed with the ancient buildings in Shanxi! Yong'an Temple is an ancient temple from the Yuan Dynasty facing south. The first thing you see when you enter the temple is the four powerful characters "Yong'an Zen Temple." The "Yuanjue Temple Pagoda" on the left side of the temple gate is the only dense eaves pagoda in Datong, adding a touch of mystery to Yong'an Temple.
When you enter Yong'an Temple, you will see two courtyards with a strict layout and ancient trees surrounding the main hall, creating a solemn atmosphere. The main hall is a relic of the Yuan Dynasty, with a single-eave hipped roof covered with yellow glazed tiles. It is simple and elegant, and the solemnity of the hall is mesmerizing. Perhaps it is the unique charm of Yong'an Temple that makes people feel awe and want to get close.
The four characters "Huxiao Longyin" on the back of the main hall are very powerful and imposing. These four characters are carved in relief on one side and in intaglio on the other, which is very special. (Relief carving is protruding.)
The hall also preserves exquisite murals from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The main hall is designed with a reduced column method, making the space more spacious and bright. The murals not only depict the ten great kings of Buddhism but also the gods of Taoism, sages of all ages, and the shamanistic Eternal Heaven. The characters and stories of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism are cleverly integrated, which is rare.

Traveling in Shanxi (27) - Kong Xiangxi Residence.
There are many Ming and Qing Dynasty courtyards in northern China, such as the Wang Family Courtyard, known as the "Folk Forbidden City", the Qiao Family Courtyard, known as the "Pearl of Northern Residential Architecture", and the Li Family Courtyard, which is known as one of the "Three Lotus Flowers of Jin Merchants" along with the Qiao Family Courtyard and the Wang Family Courtyard. They are all representative of northern residential architecture due to their unique architecture, exquisite carvings, and the hard work of the families who built them. This is why we hear sayings like "Qiao Family for fame, Wang Family for courtyards, Li Family for kindness" and see the unique beauty of the Jin Merchant Courtyards.
The 27th stop in the Traveling in Shanxi series is the Kong Xiangxi Residence, which was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and completed during the Xianfeng period. The main building faces north, but the courtyard has a double courtyard and double lighting, giving it a positive feel.
The Kong Family Courtyard, also known as the Kong Xiangxi Residence, was originally the residence of the ruined gentry Meng Guangyu in Taigu. Unlike other Jin Merchant Courtyards in Taigu and the surrounding area, the history of the Kong Xiangxi Residence is more closely linked to figures from the Republic of China, such as Kong Xiangxi and Chiang Kai-shek. So while admiring the beauty of the courtyard, you can also learn about the history of the Republic of China, which gives the courtyard a lively atmosphere and an enduring soul.
🧡Features:
✔️Northern residence + southern garden = strong combination
✔️Buildings are staggered in height, with a clear hierarchy
✔️Thoughtful and profound details with good meanings
📍TIPS:
📌Location: Search for Kong Xiangxi Residence in your navigation app.
💰Tickets: CNY 60 per person, must be purchased on site.
⏱️Opening hours: 8:00–17:30
⌚️Tour duration: 1–2 hours
🅿️Parking: There are parking spaces on the auxiliary roads of Taigu Street, free of charge. The alley where the attraction is located is narrow, and it is crowded when entering from South Street. There is no parking, and many of the alleys are one-way streets, so it is more convenient to park on the auxiliary road of Jicheng West Street and walk into the alley.
💚Nearby:
The alley where the Kong Xiangxi Residence is located leads to South Street, which is the old commercial street of Taigu County. The bustling atmosphere of the past is still clearly visible, so you can take a stroll.
💚Food:
Taigu's specialties include Taigu cake, Taigu smoked pigeon, Taigu Guilingji, oat noodles, and Lang dates.
Taigu cake is a traditional Shanxi delicacy, so be sure to try it before you leave. It is crispy and delicious, with a moderate sweetness.

The main building has a bucket arch and flying eaves, carved beams and painted buildings, gold and powder, and luxurious decorations. The courtyard building is simple, heavy, and the pavilions and pavilions are reasonably arranged. The corridor and flying eaves are intriguing, and the carved beams and painted buildings are magnificent. It is also a typical relic of Shanxi courtyard houses.
The Kong Family Courtyard has a characteristic of building in the opposite direction, which is inconsistent with the general courtyard, and is built in the opposite direction, so the Kong family will make money.
The Kong family's old house has a history of 200 years from the root, because he also bought it from others later, although people are gone, the house is still there, and I don't know if there is any experience in his fortune in the wall.

There is a parking lot in the village, and there are toilets, rest areas, small shops, etc., and there is a complete hiking trail, which can explore the internal structure of the East and West Villages.
On the mountain, there is a village on the top of the 100-meter-high loess plateau. The East Village was built by the Nie Dian Wang family, a wealthy man in Yuci during the Qing Dynasty, to avoid war. The West Village has the Changjia Ancient Castle, which proves the prosperity of Jin merchants, and was built by the Che Wuchang family. The ancient village was built according to the terrain, the terrain is steep, the ancient village is already in ruins, only the rammed earth wall is left, there are no buildings, but the shape still exists.
The village under the village is a bit off, you can charter a car to go, and it is also suitable for self-driving tours.
Yongkang Dongyue Temple|A Taoist temple with a lively atmosphere.
|A Taoist temple with a lively atmosphere. Yongkang Dongyue Temple (Taishan Temple) is located in the middle of Yongkang Village and is a Taoist temple built to worship the Dongyue Emperor. The existing Ming Dynasty main hall and Qing-style theater are still intact.
The bell and drum tower, main hall, side halls, and side rooms are arranged in order. The courtyard is spacious and unobstructed.
The stage is in the form of a corridor, with the word "solemn" written on the walls on both sides, and the eight-character shadow wall is full of seal characters, which is a long couplet of seal script.
The first line (west wall): As soon as the talent opens, the ragged scholar sees it in a moment, and the public and the marquis are extremely negative, and the Thai comes to send a message to the world's frivolous children, don't think it can be insulted.
The second line (east wall): Try to see how many treacherous heroes and prime ministers are hidden in the subtleties, for the machine, for the deceit, to trap people and harm themselves, so that the eyes of hundreds of generations know that they are also the beginning.
In addition to the normal opening on the first and fifteenth day of the Dongyue Temple, you need to contact the cultural relic protection officer at other times. There are many "lively atmospheres" around it, and many residents live in it.
Yuci Jinhua Textile Factory | Modern Industrial Site.
| Modern Industrial Site. After visiting hundreds of historical sites in Jinzhong that are hundreds or even thousands of years old, today I discovered an industrial site from the Republic of China period - Jinhua Textile Factory.
Founded in Shanxi in 1919, this state-owned textile factory was established by Xu Yiqing (Yan Xishan's uncle) and others. It has four major branches: the First Branch Factory, the Second Branch Factory, the Carpet Factory, and the Printing and Dyeing Factory. It also has Jinhua Kindergarten, Jinhua Primary School, Jinhua Technical School, Jinhua Middle School, Jinhua Hospital, Jinhua Newspaper, Jinhua TV Station, etc. It was the largest textile enterprise in North China at that time.
With the changes in history, the factory was officially declared bankrupt in 2006 with the approval of the state. During this period, there were too many stories and heroic deeds in the ups and downs of history. The past is like smoke, and only some old factory sites are left. I wonder where the "cattle and horses" who used to work hard here are?
Free visit, parking is available in the factory.
Jinzhong | Industrial heritage, the former site of Jinhua Textile Factory.
The Jinhua Textile Factory was established in 1919 and was one of the earliest and largest textile enterprises in Shanxi. As time went on, the Jinhua Textile Factory declared bankruptcy in 2006. In 2016, the government reached an agreement with Tianjin Chuangtou to implement the protection and utilization project of the former site of Jinhua Textile Factory, and the "Jinhua 1919 Project" was officially launched.
The former site is located near Wanda and is open for free. The gate is quite impressive. There are some "factories" in the back, some of which have become wedding venues. Overall, there are not many attractions. You can take a walk when you pass by.

Look at historical China, come to Yuci Old Town, it's worth visiting Yuci
Look at historical China, come to Yuci Old Town, it's worth visiting Yuci, with nearly 3000 years of city-building history;
In the Spring and Autumn period, it was called Tushui, Weiyu, and Zhongdu, and in the Warring States period, it was renamed Yuci;
The existing old city was built in the second year of the Kaihuang era of the Sui Dynasty (582 AD) on the site of the old Han city.
The story of "Wei Jiang and Rong" in the Spring and Autumn period happened in the Yuci area. It was the first time in Chinese history that a dispute was resolved peacefully, becoming a landmark of China's "peace culture".
Important figures such as Zhao State minister Lin Xiangru, Later Han Emperor Liu Zhiyuan, Song Dynasty prime minister Kou Zhun, and Ming Dynasty honest official Chu Fu were all born in Yuci.
Yuci has a superior geographical location and has long been known as the "dry dock". It has always been a hub for north-south distribution and a gathering place for merchants. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Chang family of Chewang who opened the Tea Road, and the Wang family of Niedian who had banks all over the country, together with merchants from Qixian, Taigu, and Pingyao, created the world-renowned miracle of Jin merchants. The existing Chang Family Manor is known as "China's No. 1 Confucian Merchant Family", making Yuci an important birthplace of Jin merchant culture.
Due to historical reasons, many buildings in the old city gradually disappeared. In 2000, Geng Yanbo was transferred to Yuci, Jinzhong City, to initiate the restoration of the old city.
After the restoration, the city has many historical and cultural attractions such as the City God Temple, County Office, Confucian Temple, Fengming Academy, North and South Streets, City Tower, Sifeng Tower, Qingxu Pavilion, Dasheng Temple, and West Garden, with more than 50 films and TV dramas filmed here.
Travel to Shanxi, don't miss this treasure ancient temple
✅️There is a place 30 minutes by bullet train from Taiyuan, it is the hometown of Mencius' mother Zhang Shi, the ancestral home of the Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi, and the hometown of the modern celebrity Kong Xiangxi. With a history of more than 1,400 years, it once became the 'Wall Street of China' due to the Jin merchants. This is Taigu, named after 'Three Mountains as Tai, Nine Valleys as Gu'.
✅️In addition to its long history, Taigu also retains rich relics. Within the small area of Taigu, there are 10 national key cultural relic protection units. Besides the former residence of Kong Xiangxi and Wubian Temple, my favorite is Jinxin Temple located in Yangyi Village, Yangyi Township.
🚗Although Jinxin Temple is not well-known, it is actually not difficult to reach. You can take a train from Taiyuan to Taigu or Taigu West Station. I recommend getting off at Taigu Station. After getting off, I didn't find any direct buses, but you can take a taxi or a tricycle, and it's not far.
✅️Upon arriving at Jinxin Temple, I initially couldn't find the contact information of the cultural relics manager. Later, after carefully searching, I found the phone number on the screen wall. After calling, the manager was initially reluctant to come and open the door, but after some pleading and explaining that I came from afar, and offering some compensation, she finally came to open the door for me, for which I was very grateful.
✅️Looking into the history of Jinxin Temple, we can learn that it was founded in the sixth year of the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty. It was originally a nunnery and later changed to a monastery. After several renovations and expansions over the dynasties, it has formed the current two-entry courtyard.
✅️The central axis from south to north includes the mountain gate, the opera stage, the Pilu Hall, and the Mahavira Hall. On both sides, there are the White Robe Hall (Niangniang Hall), the Guan Gong Hall, the Huiquan Hall, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower, the East and West Heavenly King Halls, the Guanyin Hall, and the Dizang Hall.
✅️First, let's look at the opera stage. The design of this stage is very special. It is a combination of a front veranda with a hip-and-gable roof and a back with a suspended gable roof. There are also wooden eight-character walls on both sides.
However, the most spectacular part of this stage is the wooden carvings on the dougong and eaves. The ends of the beams and the heads of the brackets are carved into dragon heads, and the dragon and phoenix patterns on the brackets are intricately carved. The top of the stage is covered with dazzling peacock blue glazed tiles, which look brilliant from a distance.
✅️Next, let's look at the Manjusri Hall, which preserves the most beautiful hanging sculptures in Jinxin Temple. In the middle of the hall is the main statue of Manjusri riding a lion, surrounded by various Arhat statues, some kind, some serene, some cute, all with different expressions. The surroundings are decorated with hanging sculptures of mountains, trees, clouds, and flying phoenixes, creating a heavenly sanctuary.
The Puxian Hall opposite also has hanging sculptures, but they are not as well-preserved.
✅️Next, let's look at the Niangniang Hall. As the name suggests, this is a place where people pray for children. Inside the hall, there is a statue of a wet nurse and double-sided maid statues, which are very special and worth a good look. The wet nurse's expression is kind and elegant, making it a fine example of Ming Dynasty colored sculptures.
✅️For those who like murals, you should also check out the Fox God Hall, which enshrines Hu Tu, a minister of the Jin State during the Spring and Autumn period. The hall is not large, but the two murals inside are very special, with a tiger on the west side and a dragon on the east side.
✅️Finally, be sure to see the Mahavira Hall, a Ming Dynasty building with a single-eave gable roof, five rooms wide and three rooms deep. Inside the hall, there are Ming Dynasty colored sculptures, including statues of Buddha, Guanyin, and Mahasthamaprapta.
The east and west walls also retain late Ming Dynasty water and land murals - the 'All Heavens Worshiping Buddha' painting, with colors mainly in white, blue, and red.
✅️It is also said that on the 18th day of the second lunar month, there is a temple fair in Yangyi, and Jinxin Temple will be open for local people to worship.
Jinzhong Yuci Old City
Jinzhong Yuci Ancient City.
Yuci Old City covers an area of 1 million square meters, with ancient buildings and garden buildings covering 600,000 square meters. Inside the old city, there are many ancient buildings such as the City God Temple, the County Government Office, the Confucian Temple, the Fengming Academy, the North and South Streets, and the City Tower. Yuci is one of the ancient cities in Shanxi, serving as the southern gate of the provincial capital Taiyuan, and is known as a significant town in the south of Taiyuan.
It costs only two yuan for a train ticket from Taiyuan to Yuci, which is quite convenient. Having seen the prosperity of many provincial capital cities, one might forget the hidden treasures in small towns. My first visit to Yuci left me captivated by the culture hidden within its exquisite buildings.
Yunquan Valley is worth a visit
Living in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, I have always longed for OMG Heartbeat Park. Unexpectedly, I found a cost-effective park comparable to OMG in Yuci, Shanxi! The all-inclusive ticket allows you to enjoy key features such as the glass walkway, drifting, high-altitude slide, high-altitude zipline, high-altitude walkway, and seven-color slide to your heart's content. For family fun, there are also children's facilities like the carousel, bumper cars, trampoline park, and pirate ship. The internet-famous bridge lets you enjoy the fun of playing with water~ The experience is no less than that in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai~ I especially recommend the Starry Sky Art Museum, which offers an identical experience to the one at Shanghai's Super Brand Mall~ Highly recommended.
