Scotland road trip adventure 🚐
#roadtrips
Just finished an incredible road trip across Scotland, and honestly, it’s a must-do if you love wild landscapes and ancient history. We started in Edinburgh, exploring the famous Edinburgh Castle (entry was around £18), then hit the road towards the Highlands. The drive through Glencoe was unreal—towering mountains, misty valleys, and waterfalls at every turn. It felt like driving through a movie set.
Our next stop was Loch Ness, hoping for a Nessie sighting (no luck, sadly!). Urquhart Castle, overlooking the loch, was definitely worth the visit (around £12 entry). From there, we ventured further north to Inverness, a lovely town with plenty of cozy cafés and scenic walks along the river.
But the real highlight was the Isle of Skye. The Fairy Pools were like stepping into another world, and the views from the Old Man of Storr were unbeatable. Skye’s rugged beauty truly stole my heart.
Scotland’s dramatic landscapes, rich history, and friendly locals made this road trip unforgettable. Can’t wait to return!

Hiking is a great for the mind 🗺️
#hikingtrails
Hiking on the Isle of Skye was absolutely breathtaking! The landscape feels almost otherworldly with its dramatic cliffs, rolling hills, and crystal-clear lochs. My favorite hike was the Old Man of Storr, which offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the Sound of Raasay. There's no fee to hike here, but be prepared for some steep sections—it’s a good workout!
After that, I explored the Quiraing, another magical spot with unique rock formations. Nearby, you can visit the Fairy Pools, a series of beautiful blue waterfalls, and take a refreshing dip. The scenery around every corner of Skye is mind-blowing. If you love nature and hiking, this place is a dream come true! 🏞️🥾🌿

I think the itinerary is very worthwhile, 👀because it almost passes through most of the attractions of the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye, which my classmates didn't get with the Chinese tour group! (Each place has a 15-20 minute stop, with longer stops at major attractions. Departing at 8:30 am and returning to the accommodation by 6:30 pm, with pick-up and drop-off, which is very convenient) The most memorable part was that the driver also took us to touch the Highland cows, which were super cute. 💗

PERFECT HOTEL IN ISLE OF SKYE.
This upmarket rural hostel with an annexe is on a hillside overlooking Uig Bay. It's 2 miles from Uig Skye Ferry Terminal and a 19-minute walk from the picturesque Falls of Rha waterfall.
Very nice hostel. Kind service personnel, a lot of space, perfect equipped and spacious kitchen, quite new bathroom facilities, clean and nice. Plus it has a really cozy common area, with comfy sofas and a selection of board games.
This brings people together and makes it easy to socialize. There are even some basics to buy at the reception, like beverages and food. Free parking is also available. All over an outstanding place you will be sad to leave.

THE MAGICAL NEIST POINT LIGHTHOUSE.
Neist Point Lighthouse is a lighthouse located on Neist Point on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. It was designed by David Alan Stevenson and was first lit on 1 November 1909.[3] An aerial cableway is used to take supplies to the lighthouse and cottages.
Since 1990, the lighthouse has been operated remotely from the Northern Lighthouse Board headquarters in Edinburgh. The former keepers' cottages are now in private ownership.

THE ENCHANTED OLD SLIGACHAN BRIDGE.
The Isle of Skye has always been seen as a magical place. Beautiful landscapes, plus myths and legends. There are some great stories, some true, some legends that go with the landscape of the Isle of Skye. From clan stories to faerie magic. Personally, I think stories like this really add to the place. And with the landscape on Skye, it’s easy to believe the legend. The Old Sligachan Bridge on Skye has a great tale, and what’s more, you can gain eternal beauty from the waters below the bridge.
VISITING THE DUNVEGAN CASTLE.
Dunvegan Castle & Gardens is at the heart of the 42000 acre MacLeod Estate on the Isle of Skye.
The aim is to conserve and protect the natural habitat.
Dunvegan Castle (Caisteal Dhùn Bheagain) is located 1 mile (1.6 km) to the north of Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye, off the west coast of Scotland. It is the seat of the MacLeod of MacLeod, chief of the Clan MacLeod.
Probably a fortified site from the earliest times, the castle was first built in the 13th century and developed piecemeal over the centuries. In the 19th century the whole castle was remodelled in a mock-medieval style. The castle is built on an elevated rock overlooking an inlet on the eastern shore of Loch Dunvegan, a sea loch.

THE SCENIC FAIRY POOLS.
Located on the northern slopes of the magnificent Black Cuillin range, Skye’s famous Fairy Pools are beautiful crystal-clear blue pools on the Allt Coire a' Mhadaidh (Burn of the Dog), which can be seen snaking down the hillside of Coire na Creiche into Glen Brittle where it becomes the River Brittle.
The Fairy Pools are a natural waterfall phenomenon in Glen Brittle on the Isle of Skye, on the Allt Coir' a' Mhadaidh.
The pools are a vivid aqua blue and are a popular place for wild swimmers who brave the frigid waters. The habitat of the Fairy Pools hosts a variety of animals, such as red deer, rabbits, and sheep

HIDDEN FAIRY GLEN IN ISLE OF SKYE.
Hidden in the hills of Uig, above the sweeping sides of Glen Conon, the enchanting geographical formations that form Balnaknock, the Fairy Glen (Bail nan cnoc in Gaelic, meaning village in the hills) has gained this special miniature landscape on Skye a reputation for being a place of myth and wonder.
The Fairy Glen is a unique and unusual landscape, a geological wonder on the Isle of Skye. It is situated between the villages of Sheader and Barnack.

The Kylerhea to Glenelg ferry crossing is part of the heritage, the last turnable ferry in Scotland. It serves this 800 metre 5 minutes crossing from 1934 during summer times April to mid October. The Kylerhea ferry is reached on the mainland side by a ten mile road that leaves the main A87 at Shiel bridge. The ferry ride sometimes can see wildlife like seals, dolphins, otters and sea eagles.
Kilt rock is a sea cliff in the north east of the Trotternish peninsula, because of the kilt-like shape column. The nearest town is Staffin the trails from here are around 3 kilometers 40 minutes,a 15 kilometers 15 minutes drive from Storr. Mealt falls that is 55 metres falling from 60 metres cliff to the sea. Lots of dino footprints on the sign for kids to look at. On site parking will be busy during visiting hours.
Isle of Skye
Booked a 3D2N tour with Rabbies to visit Isle of Skye since it’s difficult to visit the Highlands on public transport. Though the first and last day would mainly be driving up towards Portree, we still stopped by various attractions along the way.
Rabbies focuses on an intimate group size on a minibus so you can rest assured that there will definitely be attention devoted to you and your needs. The tour guides are knowledgeable and will do their best to meet to your requests. Though you won’t be able to hike much, they do bring you to sufficient spots around the island that you won’t feel as if you missed out on much.
Rolling green hills and epic views make Isle of Skye one of the best hiking destinations in Europe. Make sure to try traditional fish and chips (complete with mushy peas) while you're there. #uk #deliciousfood #hiking
Scotland
Surrounded by vast nature
There are few transportation options, so it is highly recommended to use a rental car if you go.
Especially on weekends and during the winter season, buses that should be displayed on other apps may not exist.
Even if you go to tourist spots, the buses going there only run until the morning, and in the afternoon, only the buses coming back from there are in operation.
It is also recommended to book a tour.
Bridging Journey at Sligachan
If you're looking for a spot that perfectly captures the rugged beauty of the Isle of Skye, look no further than the Sligachan Old Bridge. This charming stone bridge, with its stunning backdrop of the Cuillin mountains, is a must-visit for any traveller. Walking across the Sligachan Old Bridge felt like stepping back in time. The bridge offers a picturesque view that is nothing short of magical. The sound of the river rushing below and the sight of the mountains towering above create a serene atmosphere that is perfect for reflection and photography.
I visited on a sunny morning, and the mist rolling off the mountains added an ethereal quality to the scene. As I stood on the bridge, I couldn't help but feel a deep connection to the history and natural beauty of the area. It's no wonder this spot is a favourite among photographers and nature lovers alike. I recommend visiting early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the crowds and capture the best light for photos. The weather in Skye can be unpredictable, so bring waterproof gear. But don't just stop at the bridge. Take a hike along the nearby trails to fully immerse yourself in the stunning landscape. There are plenty of scenic spots around the bridge where you can enjoy a peaceful picnic with a view. The area is steeped in folklore. Take some time to learn about the legends of the mountains and the fairies said to inhabit the region.

Scotland road trip
One of the most beautiful places I’ve experienced is Scotland. I would recommend taking the train between cities and towns and renting a car to visit more remote places such at the Isle of Skye. One highlight of my trip was the Isle of Barra, shown here with beautiful beaches and turquoise sea. The island can be reached on a small plane which lands on the beach! This is a unique experience that can only be experienced at this airport. I would recommend staying overnight on Barra if possible to take in the stunning scenery.#scotlandnature #avgeeks
Bride’s Veil Falls: A Skye Gem
#waterfall
Located on the Isle of Skye, Bride’s Veil Falls is a hidden treasure offering stunning natural beauty. This charming waterfall cascades gracefully over a rocky ledge, creating a veil-like appearance that gives it its name. The falls are situated near the village of Bracadale, accessible via a short, picturesque hike.
For the best visit, aim for spring or early summer when the water flow is strong and the surrounding landscape is lush. The area around the falls is ideal for a peaceful stroll, with ample opportunities for photography and nature observation.

Mealt Falls: Hidden Coastal Wonder Waterfall
#waterfall
Perched on the eastern coast of the Isle of Skye, Mealt Falls offers one of Scotland’s most breathtaking natural spectacles. This stunning waterfall cascades 60 meters from the cliffs of Kilt Rock directly into the sea below. Fed by the freshwater Loch Mealt, the falls are framed by the unique vertical basalt columns of Kilt Rock, which resemble the pleats of a Scottish kilt. The sound of the water crashing against the rocks below is both powerful and soothing, creating an unforgettable experience for visitors.
Easily accessible by a short walk from a nearby car park on the A855, Mealt Falls is a must-see when exploring the Trotternish Peninsula. For the best views, visit on a clear day when the contrast between the dark cliffs and the blue sea is most striking. Don’t forget your camera—this is a view you’ll want to capture!

Scotland Vacation - Edinburgh edition 🗺️
#uktrip
My vacation in Scotland was absolutely magical! 🌄 I started my journey in Edinburgh, where the city's medieval charm and vibrant culture instantly captivated me. Walking along the Royal Mile, with its cobblestone streets and historic landmarks like St Giles' Cathedral, felt like stepping back in time. Edinburgh Castle was a highlight, with its panoramic views of the city – the £19 entry fee was worth every penny! 🏰 After a day of exploring, I enjoyed some traditional haggis at a cozy pub while listening to live bagpipe music, which really set the mood. 🎶
Next, I headed to the Scottish Highlands, which took my breath away with their rugged landscapes and serene lochs. Glencoe was stunning, with its dramatic mountains and lush greenery. I couldn’t resist taking a hike to soak in the incredible scenery. The famous Loch Ness was another stop – though I didn’t spot Nessie, the lake was still impressive. 🦕 I also visited Inverness, a charming town that served as a perfect base for exploring the Highlands.
The Isle of Skye was like a dream, with its fairy pools, picturesque villages, and the iconic Old Man of Storr rock formation. 🏞️ It was a photographer’s paradise, and I spent hours just wandering around, taking in the natural beauty. Throughout my trip, the Scottish hospitality was warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home. From the cities to the countryside, Scotland offered a perfect mix of adventure, history, and relaxation. I can’t wait to return and discover even more hidden gems! #trip #Scotland #HighlandAdventures #EdinburghCastle #IsleOfSkye #LochNess
