Location: Luskentyre Beach on the Isle of Harris. Getting there: You will need to get the boat from Ullapool on Scotland's mainland and then drive down. This beach is so white and so beautiful. The water is turquoise colour and surreal. We spent an entire afternoon there in the summer and it was so tranquil. Scotland has amazing beaches to visit in the summer time. #scotland

The Hebrides are divided into two parts, the inner and outer parts. They are located in the westernmost part of the UK and face the west winds of the Atlantic Ocean. They are solitary and desolate. #getgoing2025 Luskentyre beach could almost be Caribbean in appearance. The vast expanse of silvery white sand and the crystal clear aquamarine / turquoise sea all combine to create what is often cited as the best beach in the British Isles. In the distance are the mountains of North Harris which further add to the beauty of this spot. As if all this wasn’t enough, you may be lucky enough to have the beach to yourself.

Brooding, sombre backdrops, terrains reminiscent of lunar scenes - it has a real sense of isolation. And there are many beaches to be enjoyed, too. The best is arguably Luskentyre, which has azure-green waters less associated with Scotland than with the Caribbean: clear as crystal, and trimmed by vast white coastline. Occasionally, wild ponies are spotted grazing along the dunes, but they're not the only nature to be spied: otters, seals, dolphins, eagles and deer all call Harris home.
