Nature’s best, Seoraksan
Hiking Seoraksan in autumn feels like stepping into a painting—vibrant reds, golds, and oranges blanket the mountains. Each turn reveals new vistas, with jagged peaks rising against the blue sky. The crisp air fills me with energy, and as I climb higher, the view becomes even more breathtaking. Nature’s masterpiece. #southkorea #Autum #travel #naturalwonders #seoraksan #100waysoftravel
Golden Mountain in South Korea 🇰🇷
#fallingforfall 🍂 Trust me when I say less than 10% Malaysian has discovered this place in South Korea. Let’s do something out of the typical itinerary.
This is Seoraksan Mountain, one of the three highest peaks in South Korea. It is located in Sokcho-si. It is suitable for all ages as you can take a cable car ride around 10 minutes to the top of the mountain.
It’s only around 3 hours driving from Seoul and you will find yourself in this golden heaven especially for someone who travel in the autumn. Those pictures I took myself during this year mid-autumn.
Make sure to put this in your itinerary next time you are planning to go to South Korea.
Muhammad Amer Ridzuan Bin Zuber Seoraksan National Park
Seoraksan is a mountain in South Korea that is known for its scenic beauty and diverse plant and animal life. It is a popular destination for hiking and outdoor activities, and is home to many temples and cultural sites. The mountain is also designated as a National Park, which helps to protect its natural resources and biodiversity. The view was so spectacular that I really enjoyed my hike there.
Hiking at Seoraksan
#gohiking
Seoraksan is around a few hours ride from Seoul and is an ideal place for hiking in nature in South Korea. There are a lot of nature trails available, lush greenery, beautiful mountains, waterfalls and rivers to explore. However, do note that some of the nature trails are quite long.
If you go during the fall season, you will also get to see a different Seoraksan all colourful in red, green and yellow... A very beautiful place of which you can spend hours here exploring with no issues.
Mountain View
Four trails in the Seoraksan National Park take the visitors to this peak, through Osaek, Baekdam, Seorak-dong, and Osaengnyeong (Hangyeryeong) Pass. The shortest trail is the 5 km-long Osaek Trail (Osaek – Seorak Falls – Daecheongbong Peak), taking about 4 hr in total. The management controls entry to Seoraksan National Park depending on weather conditions and period, so visitors are advised to check the real-time

Going Down from Daecheongbong Peak
It is a relatively flat, 1 hr-long course with many wooden decks that help to make it more accessible for the visitors. The entrance to the trail is the location of the Osaek Mineral Spring, whose natural carbonation and iron content impart a unique flavor in the water. Keep your eyes open for strange rock formations like Gorae, Sangtu, and Bubu Rocks, as well as Namseorak’s famous sights like Seonnyeotang Pothole, Geumgangmun Gate, and Yongso Falls.

Shelter
Jungcheong Shelter is a shelter in South Korea. Jungcheong Shelter is situated nearby to Daecheongbong and Socheongbong.
The path to Jungcheong Shelter in Seoraksan National Park. Save. Trails of Seoraksan National Park in Winter.
Making the trip from Seoul was easy, though planning it was quite the trial. Hopping off an intercity bus and onto a shuttle to Baekdamsa (Baekdam temple), I found myself unable to stop smiling: the trees and the streams were swapping hues, the air crisp and intoxicating. Soon I found myself meandering around the temple grounds, joined by a sizable-but-not-overwhelming number of local tourists

Jungcheong Shelter View
I started from Osaek to Daechung, then took this path down. Amazing view to the east and the west. Many rocky spots that go up and down. The weather gets unpredictable during the summer, and it changes overtime where you’re at in the route. Make sure to bring layers and rain coat. It was difficult at the end when it was raining. Don’t recommend when weather is not good. I want to revisit when it’s nice.
Conditions: Rocky, Great!

Seorak Mountain
Most people who visit Seoraksan will stay in the nearby fishers town of Sokcho. It has a nice beach and relaxing atmosphere, and is just about interesting enough for a day out. Sokcho can be reached easily from Seoul, as buses go continuously from both Dong Seoul bus terminal and Express bus terminal, and it takes only a little over two hours if there is no traffic.
I had just finished a Templestay before the weekend, and was itching to go out to Seoraksan straight after, instead of checking back into my hostel in Seoul. But after hiking up Mt Hallasan on Jeju island, I was well aware of the increasing crowds on the weekends and the alarming numbers of excited South Korean hikers. So I stayed in Seoul for a few nights instead, and caught a Sunday morning bus from Dong Seoul at 8.59 to Sokcho (the awkward time probably to differentiate it from the other 9am bus to Sokcho

Comment from Michaela
One of the extraordinary place which I've ever seen, is definitely Seoraksan. First, I went hiking to the waterfalls and after that I decided to hike to the opposite side. Even though stairs up was horrible, the view on the top was worth it.

Such a beautiful national park, so many trails for hikers, cable car for family time. So beautiful now in May. So vividly green, such special place.

Dinosaur Ridge
Getting to Seoraksan National Park from Seoul Go to Dong Seoul Bus Terminal (Gangbyeon ... There's a path here somewhere – Dinosaur Ridge
Gongnyong Ridge is a mountain ridge in Seoraksan National Park, located in Gangwon Province, South Korea. It is the central ridge of Seoraksan, dividing it. The ridge earns its name due to the mountain peaks in the ridge looking as "vigorous and dynamic as a dinosaur rising from the ground"
For the first 1 hour to 45 minutes the hike is very flat and cuts through temples and monuments along the flowing stream,

Trip to Seoraksan (Mount Seorak)
The land of South Korea is blessed with many hills and mountains, as such one of the country's main sports is hiking. Mount Seorak is located at the east of South Korea, Gangwon-do. It is also the highest mountain in the Taebaek mountain range.
The mountain is also located in a national park in the city of Sokcho. There is a cable car for those non hikers to enjoy a panoramic view of the mountain, but there are also some course and terrains for those who would like to hike up the range like Ulsanbawi, Heundeulbawi etc. This location is also a good place to view autumn foliage during the early period as leaves tend to change colour from the peak to the bottom.

Now, the local restaurant, “Inje Makguksu”
📍Gangwon Inje-gun Inje-eup Inje-ro 168beon-gil 48-4
This is a famous restaurant in Inje that I stopped by on my way from Seoul to Sokcho!
I visited this place after seeing that it was famous among locals, and I was really excited because the exterior gave off a local restaurant vibe.
This is a place that sells famous Makguksu, Memil Kalguksu, and Memil Mandu Guk in Gangwon-do, and the prices are really cheap and delicious, so it’s been featured on TV. I ordered Ongsimi Memil Kalguksu, Bibim Makguksu, and Jeonbyeong, and they weren’t too spicy and were really delicious.
If you’re traveling to Inje or passing through Inje on your way to Sokcho/Gangneung like me, this is a restaurant I definitely recommend. It was a cozy, home-cooked, local restaurant that I’ll think of again!😃

Seoraksan Mountain in South Korea
Seoraksan Mountain in South Korea is a seasonal attraction in autumn, where you can witness the most stunning autumn foliage. The leaves here are so vibrant that they seem to glow. The mountain peaks are breathtaking, and the best time to enjoy the autumn leaves is during the cable car ride up the mountain. The scenery is a colorful mix of yellow, red, and green, creating a fairyland-like atmosphere. The only downside is that there are many visitors, and cable car tickets usually sell out by around 2 PM, so it's best to arrive early if you plan to take the cable car up the mountain.
Seoraksan National Park - Simply a test of grit and endurance
What seemed to be a typical day trip to visit the national park had me panting the entire time and aching sore for the next few days.
We had originally planned to do an easy hike to visit the national park. It was a very easy hike initially, mostly flat terrains and long walks. As we reached the end of the easy path, we saw the signs up to a cave; we decided to challenge ourselves by extending the hike. Immediately, the terrain changed and it was pure rocks on a steep incline. It was a stark difference from what we had experienced earlier. On the easy terrain, we were able to see many hikers along the way. The hike up to the cave, we barely saw many other hikers. Those we were descending encouraged us to carry on, promising us that the path is a fulfilling one.
True enough. What seemed to be a long 2 hours up 600m path with a steep include of almost 70 degrees, we reached an opening which stunned us all. But that was not all! There is, again, a steep stairs up to a small cave barely visible from the bottom. We walked up and viola, it was a breathtaking scene which we made us felt triumph and somewhat comforting that we have took up the challenge to truly finish the course of the hike.
After the hike, we tried to search for more details on the hike we took and there weren’t much details on it. We hope this could give a glimpse to the hike. Having hiking sticks is recommended. It definitely helps to make the hike much easier! We will recommend all tourists to visit this spot!

We had a brilliant 2 day trip in #seoraksan national park. the park has many trails, all very easily marked, so getting lost is not really an option. also, the park has a #visitorcentre, that will help you choose the course most suited for you.
we believe the nicest peak (also portrayed in the first picture) is #ulsanbawi.
getting there is easiest by #bus, since you can't really move around the park in a car.
we were in June, and the weather was a little hot, but otherwise splendid.
