The Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, located on the seafront of HAT Kobe in Kobe, is a magnificent concrete building designed by architect Tadao Ando.
Opened in 2002 as a symbol of cultural revival after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, it is known as one of the largest art museums in western Japan .

• The geometric and sophisticated spatial composition unique to Ando's architecture: Enjoy a maze-like spatial experience with an exterior that resembles overlapping rectangular parallelepipeds, and an internal light garden and circular terrace .
• Plenty of outdoor sculptures: The grounds are dotted with sculptures by domestic and international artists, including Shingu Susumu's windmill work, César, and Motonaga Sadamasa .
• Ando Gallery: Opened in 2019. Ando's architectural models and drawings are available to the public free of charge. The "green apple" object inside the museum is also a popular photo spot .
