Gukhwado, a great island for a day trip🌼💚
#Domestic travel
This island, named Gukhwado because it is full of chrysanthemums in the fall, is a great place to visit for a day trip from the metropolitan area or Chungcheong region.
🚢10 minutes from Dangjin Janggo Port, 40 minutes from Hwaseong Gungpyeong Port!
Gukhwado is an island that is administratively called Hwaseong, but it takes about 10 minutes by boat from Dangjin Janggo Port and about 40 minutes from Hwaseong Gungpyeong Port.
The time it takes to arrive at the port varies depending on where you are, so calculate the boat time and travel time and use the boat from the port that is convenient for you!
🕰️First boat from Janggo Port: 08:00 Last boat: 18:00 (summer)
Based on the first boat at 8:00, there are boats every two hours.
If you purchase a ticket at Janggo Port, you will be issued a round-trip ticket, so make sure to keep the ticket with you!
🚘The operation of the ferry is flexible! Gukhwado is not a very big island that you can see everything in an hour or two, so you can park your car at Janggo Port and go, but if you really have to drive in, you can take the ferry that operates once or twice a day.
However, the ferry operation is very flexible 🥺
🍚There are only a few restaurants on Gukhwado!
There are only a few restaurants on the island because it is an island where water supply permits are not easily issued.
Reviews are very mixed, so I recommend staying one night on the island and eating at your accommodation or eating near Janggo Port and going back and forth!
🏕️It is a backpacking mecca.
Gukhwado is a backpacking mecca because the ocean and sunset are so pretty that you will regret not staying one night!
The last ferry is at 6 o'clock, so it is hard to see the sunset on a day trip, so I want to go backpacking when the weather gets a little cooler.
1️⃣2️⃣ Sunset, Maebak Island
This is an observatory that you can see when you walk along the Gukhwado perimeter road.
The island you see here is Maebak Island, and when the tide goes out, you can walk to Maebak Island.
3️⃣ Sea Pension
They also operate accommodations, and they also operate a light shop and restaurant on the Gukhwado perimeter road.
I was able to have a cup of convenience store coffee while looking at the ocean in Gukhwado, where cafes are rare.
4️⃣ Gukhwado Lighthouse
The first thing that greets you when you enter Gukhwado is the yellow chrysanthemum-colored lighthouse, the symbol of Gukhwado!
5️⃣6️⃣ Gukhwado Beach
It's great for swimming, but they say it's a famous sunset spot. When they arrived, everyone was in full gear, so I wondered what was going on, but they were fully prepared to dig up a ton of clams...
7️⃣Seommaeul House Coffee
As mentioned above, the only cafe in Gukhwado, where cafes are rare!
It's not just an ordinary cafe, but a Vietnamese cafe run by a real Vietnamese person.
It's located at the beginning of the trail and is close to the port, so it's a good place to stop by.
8️⃣Gukhwado Photo Zone
This is a photo zone with the shape of the chrysanthemum, the symbol of Gukhwado.
In addition to this, there are many other fun photo zones, such as the Stairway to Heaven.
Gukhwado is a great place to stay overnight and enjoy the sunset and swimming, but it's also a great place to do light trekking like we did.
When the chrysanthemums bloom in the fall, come and visit Gukhwado Island, which is even prettier🏝️💚
