|Transportation|
Self-driving is the most convenient way. It takes about 1.5 hours from Nelson. Along the way, you will pass the small town of St Arnaud in Nelson Lakes National Park, which has basic facilities and gas stations. It is recommended to arrange more than half a day to slowly experience this lake view away from the hustle and bustle.
|Recommendation reason|
Lake Rotoiti is located in Nelson Lakes National Park. The lake surrounded by mountains seems to be forgotten by the world. It is beautiful and unobtrusive. There is no noise of commercial tourism here. Only local Kiwis drive speedboats and jump into the lake in the summer to enjoy their vacation. The lake water is clear, reflecting the blue sky and mountain scenery. Any stop is a postcard picture. When traveling to New Zealand, it is worth setting aside a day for this secret place and spending some quiet time with yourself.

Introducing the trekking courses of New Zealand's great nature🇳🇿 South Island⛰
📍New Zealand, Speargrass Track
I visited Speargrass Track, one of the trekking courses located in Nelson Lakes National Park. It is a course connected to Lake Angelus, which I introduced earlier.
I decided to stay one night in Lake Angelus and descend on the new course, Speargrass Track. I chose an unknown path because I thought I would never be able to descend on Mount Robert, the way I came up, but this path was also very difficult. 🥲
The descent path was so wide that I could barely fit my foot in it, and it was full of gravel, so I kept slipping and sliding. On the following path, I even took off my shoes and moved around because I encountered swamps and valleys!
Towards the end, I entered a dense forest, and it was difficult to even tell where the next path led because of the dense trees. This is a course with quite a bit of difficulty, so I don't recommend this track to beginners🥲
However, there are amazing views waiting for you, so trekking experts should definitely go👍✨

New Zealand's South Island🇳🇿 Walk along the Robert Range⛰
📍New Zealand, Mount Robert
I hiked the Mount Robert Track in Nelson Lakes National Park! I walked and walked along the mountain range with an endless path unfolding before my eyes.⛰
I still can't forget the feeling of walking on Google Maps satellite mode! It's a trekking course with a bit of difficulty, but if you like hiking, you should definitely try it when you travel to New Zealand!
