The streets in Higashiyama are lined by small shops, cafes and restaurants which have been catering to tourists and pilgrims for centuries. These businesses retain their traditional design, although many have been renovated through the years, and they continue to serve customers today, selling local specialties such as pottery, sweets, pickles, crafts and other souvenirs.
Wakamiya Hachimangu Shrine: Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City
Wakamiya Hachimangu Shrine is famous as a pottery shrine, but it is also popular among women as a 'Beauty Shrine' because the enshrined deity, Empress Jingu, is known to be a very beautiful goddess.
It is located on the way from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station to Kiyomizu Temple. However, since most people are heading to Kiyomizu Temple, few people stop by, allowing for a quiet visit.✨
The shrine is well-maintained, so be sure to stop by and take a look.👍️
Name: Wakamiya Hachimangu Shrine
Location: 5-480, 479 Gojobashi Higashi, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, 605-0846
Quaint old Higashiyama District
Love Kyoto’s quaint old Japan look and all tourists will visit Higashiyama district and take a mandatory photo of the Yasaka Pagoda. You’ll see many dressed in kimono and yukata to do photoshoot along the shophouses. A nice place to visit, there’s many street vendors for nice foodies too.
Beautiful Kyoto
Kyoto is simply serene, relaxing and beautiful... a place where one could just escape to... from city life... to get into a really slow pace.
Only managed a half day trip this round from Osaka and only managed to cover Higashiyama by walk.
There are so many other wonderful places to discover!
Will definitely plan another trip to return to this beautiful place (hopefully soon) and to explore so many other areas the next round!
Will be back!!!
Gion Duck Noodles🦆🍜

Address: Japan, 〒605-0073 Kyoto, Higashiyama Ward, Gionmachi Kitagawa, 329 329 1 階D号
If you’re in Kyoto, you must try this duck ramen shop.
Gion Duck Noodles serves only duck ramen and duck tsukemen with options for toppings.
Once a spot opened up inside, we were surprised with the intimate decor, it’s a small an cozy place, and the smell of the food was very pleasant.
The duck is amazing and so are the noodles and broth.
The restaurant is down a tiny alley - look for a sign with images of a duck and a bowl of noodles at the start of the alley.
Highly recommend this hidden alley way gem for a delightful culinary adventure!
Exploring Higashiyama Neighborhood
#fallishere
Higashiyama is a large area that spans a number of UNESCO World Heritage temples and the most pristine of Kyoto's old townscapes
we spent the day simply walking around and exploring the beautiful streets of Sanneizaka, Nineizaka, Yasaka and Hanamikoji.
Also must stop in front of the Hokan-ji temple for a famous photography view.

Higashiyama is located at the heart of Kyoto which preserved historic district. This place is really touristic. You will be amazed by this inevitable beauty.
This is great to experience the traditional Kyoto with Kimono as the signature clothes you will find in so many places in Kyoto.
The streets in Higashiyama is surrounded by small shops, restaurants, cafe which catching your eyes not to ignore the existence. As Kyoto is known as home of matcha, I highly recommend you to stop by the nearest cafe to take a sip of the finest matcha.
If you want to go there, you can take Bus 206/208 from Kyoto Station. It is recommended if you stay over in Kyoto and have a unique experience here.
