The Sugarloaf
#australiatrip A 2km circuit hike of Hallett Cove Conservation Park exploring some of the outstanding geological sites. Interpretive signs along the way explain some of the features. The cliff tops are the base of a glacial lake that melted 270 million years ago, leaving boulders and sedimentary deposits. The glacial pavement on the cliff top shows the scrape marks from boulders moved in a glacier. The park is recognised as the best record of Permian glaciation in Australia and has international significance.
The hike begins from the carpark and cafe at Hallett Cove Beach, at the end of Heron Way.
Heron Way Reserve
#australiatrip This is a beautiful family friendly spot for all to enjoy. A nice Playground situated in front of the ocean with plenty of well maintained lawn for activities or just to sit and capture the views. There are plenty of benches along the path. Toilet facilities located at the end of path on Heron Way as well as next to the café. We walked the boardwalk for about 4km to get to this spot and arrived just before sunset. Plenty of street parking available. There is also a bbq near a shaded area just past the playground.

20-minute city, Adelaide self-drive must-visit guide
The day after we got married, we flew to Australia and wandered for 500 days on a self-driving trip, working and traveling at the same time. If you're interested in our story, you can check out our previous notes.
During our Road trip🚗 to South Australia, we discovered its capital—Adelaide, known as the '20-minute city', because you can reach the beach or the mountains within a 20-minute drive. We've summarized 4 must-visit attractions that you shouldn't miss.
🟠hallett cove
This place is a national geological park with many unique landforms. The most famous is a limestone landform dating back hundreds of millions of years, known as 'Sugarloaf', which is the landmark of the entire park. It's really beautiful. We arrived just in time for sunset, and the photos were super beautiful, and both the trails and the coastline are gorgeous.
🟠Cleland wildlife park
Here you can get up close and personal with wildlife, experiencing the joy and surprise of returning to nature. Holding a cute koala in your arms or taking a photo with a kangaroo are thrilling, unique, and fun experiences. However, be careful when holding a koala, as their claws are very sharp, and it's easy to get scratched if you're not careful.
🟠University of Adelaide
In 2024, the University of Adelaide made it into the top 100 of the QS World University Rankings, coming in at number 89. The campus is beautiful and open to the public and tourists for free, and it is also one of the four most outstanding universities recommended by the Australian government. We also went there because of its reputation, and although we couldn't enter the teaching buildings, walking around the campus made us feel as if we had traveled back in time and were 10 years younger.
🟠Art Gallery of South Australia
What shocked me the most about this art gallery was a specimen of a horse with one leg suspended in mid-air, as if it didn't fit in with the entire art gallery, yet it symbolizes art. There are also two figures with steel spikes all over their bodies, incredible works of art that you must see if you have the time, truly eye-opening.

Walking along the Coastal Hike, I was captivated by the well-preserved evidence of Earth's history etched into the landscape. The iconic "Sphinx" and the "Marino Rocks" are geological marvels, offering a glimpse into the deep past.
As a nature enthusiast, I appreciated the diverse flora and fauna, from coastal shrubs to seabirds soaring above. The park's interpretive signage provides valuable insights into its geological significance.
Hallett Cove Conservation Park is a must-visit for geology enthusiasts, hikers, and anyone who appreciates the raw beauty of nature. It's a living museum that showcases millions of years of Earth's history against the backdrop of South Australia's stunning coastline.
