Gobeliktepe is oldest monumental architectural site you will ever visit on Earth (10.000 years B. C.!), and it's beautiful. And it's a big mistery, to which every answer raises another series of questions, judging from all the relief on the stone found. There are detailed figures as if they were made yesterday. The ancestors of all living people gathered here and worshiped. It is a very impressive place. All the history we know has changed since this place was discovered by the archeologists from Germany about 6 years ago. Deserves every minute spent here, a place where some of first human walked before. 📍Gobekli Tepe Örencik, 63290 Haliliye/Şanlıurfa 💰Entrance ticket: 90 TL. ⏰Opening hours: Daily from 8:30 to 17:30. Gobekli Tepe about ten minutes from City of Urfa is known tobe the oldest (about 12000 years old) religious structure in the world. This is a truly breath-taking glimpse of a Stone Age settlement, that was sophisticated and cultured. The site dates back to 12,000BC but was discovered relatively recently. It's still under excavation, but the remains which have been unearthed are open to view and well-displayed. The bas-reliefs of animals are detailed and quite amazing: foxes, wild boar, camels and other creatures, easily identifiable on stone pillars. It's a short drive out of Sanliurfa, out in the countryside, but well worth the trip. Tourists flock in their millions to see the historic sights in Egypt. Yet this is SO much older, and hardly anyone has heard of it.
