After dinner, empty for two or three hours, digest, and soak three times before going to bed, and you can sleep well all night. Breakfast is a feast for the eyes and the aroma is tempting. The kaiseki cuisine at night is also different from other homes. The main course (main course) can be selected from more than ten dishes. I read a review that said the rooms without a private hot spring are not as good. But if you're only staying for one night and you want to book their private hot spring, it doesn't matter if your room has one or not. But the bed is really comfortable. • I recommend going during the day. It's beautiful and comfortable. After soaking in the hot spring, you can have a meal and then go to bed. • If you're staying for more than two days, I recommend not including breakfast and dinner. Include breakfast and dinner on the first day, and go out to eat on the second night. The restaurants outside are actually really good. I recommend Kizinosuke. It's a 2-minute walk from the hotel. PS: If you have time, you can go to Owakudani to see Mount Fuji and try the black eggs. They're really good! This hotel has been run by an old couple for a lifetime. This time, we visited in early February, coinciding with the winter fireworks festival. It was our first time watching the fireworks over the lake, with the pitch-black background only illuminated by the faint lights of the pirate ship on the lake and the small silhouette of Hakone Shrine on the shore. Although these two light sources were very small, they perfectly highlighted the unique features of Hakone, making the fireworks festival a delightful and visually pleasing experience.

Hakone - A Relaxing and Comfortable Journey

Traveling west from Kamakura on the JR line, it takes about an hour to reach Odawara Station. Odawara Station is also the gateway to the famous hot spring destination - Hakone. Odawara Castle itself is also of historical value, but unfortunately, due to time constraints, we couldn't visit it. Those who have been to Japan know that transportation costs are very high, so travelers should make good use of various transportation passes to save on travel expenses. Starting today, we will use the Fuji Hakone Pass from Odakyu, allowing us to travel from Hakone to Lake Kawaguchi without any hassle! ~ Hakone-Yumoto ~ We set off early yesterday morning, and today the most important thing is to rest well. So, the first day's itinerary is to visit Hakone-Yumoto for a hot spring bath. Hakone-Yumoto has a history of over 1200 years, and the hot spring street is quite well-developed. Among them, there are many 'day-use' hot spring facilities, which means you can enjoy a hot spring bath for one to two hours without staying overnight, making it very convenient for passersby. The hot springs can relieve nerve pain and muscle soreness and also have skin-beautifying effects, making them a favorite for people of all ages. ~ Hakone Shrine Heiwa no Torii ~ After enjoying the healing hot spring, we had a simple meal of udon made with hot spring water in the hot spring street and continued our journey. We took the Hakone Tozan Bus, which is also included in the pass, from Hakone-Yumoto to Motohakone Port. A 10-minute walk from Motohakone Port leads to the Heiwa no Torii of Hakone Shrine, located in the middle of the sea. The one-hour boat ride quickly brought us to Togendai Port, where we transferred to the Hakone Ropeway to our next destination, Owakudani. ~ Owakudani ~ Before the ropeway reached Owakudani Station, a strong smell of sulfur hit our noses. Owakudani is a volcanic valley filled with sulfur springs and hot springs. From the observation deck, you can see sulfur vents and gushing springs, which are very impressive. The specialty of Owakudani is eggs boiled in sulfur spring water, which turn black due to the sulfur, making them very unique. However, due to the strong sulfur smell, we only stayed briefly before continuing our journey, taking the ropeway and the Hakone Tozan Cable Car, also included in the pass, to our hotel in Gora. Since Hakone is a rural area and not a city, shops and transportation do not operate late, so it's safer to return to the hotel before dark.

I spent two days in Hakone. It was a pleasant trip 😋 Tip: The Hakone Free Pass is a must-have and a great deal. I picked it up at the counter in person, which required waiting in line. Meanwhile, at the counter, I reserved seats on the Romancecar. It is fast, comfortable, and has great scenery. I took the train from Miyanoshita to the Hakone Open-Air Museum. The museum has a number of amazing sculptures and a forest for you to explore.

We come here by lake ashi cruise at Togendai morning, and we arrive Hakonemachi-Ko, about 10 min walk , A small museum that explains the Hakone checkpoint About the Hakone Checkpoint Explains the role of the checkpoint in logistics and the flow of people during the Edo period. There is a parking lot in front of the facility, but there is a charge , and have some souvenir shop and soba restaurant nearby entrance counter. It would be a good idea to visit when visiting the checkpoint.

Cruise at Hakone

Great area with spectacular views of Mt Fuji. We came in early Novenber and although there was cold on the ground the temperature was very comfortable to walk around and explore. The views around the lake were simply breathtaking and I highly recommend taking a “pirate” cruise across to Hakone- and take the gondola up. Big cruise and have alot free seat to choice and you can purchase drink and souvenir too.

Many people have been to Hakone, which is not far from Tokyo. You can take the train or drive there conveniently. The hotel is near Gora Station, where you can take the cable car to eat black eggs. 📌 The highlight of Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora is its quietness. There is a view of the mountains behind and a river flowing below. Some room types have a private onsen on the balcony!!! ✅ And it is also part of the IHG network, so you can use all the benefits. 🛏 Rooms: There are a total of 98 rooms, including 6 room types, and there are also pet-friendly rooms. This time, I stayed in a Suite Riverview with private hot spring, which is the top room in the hotel (upgraded from the original room, booked as a Premiere Riverview from Diamond IHG). The room is in a simple, minimalist Japanese + Western style, with 2 double beds and a guest area with a large sofa. Near Tokyo, Japan, is the town of Hakone, which can be reached by taking the JR train. Hakone is a great place to soak in hot springs ♨️, with hotels and guesthouses of all sizes offering their own hot springs. We booked a hot spring hotel package with excellent service, and could soak in the hot springs both morning and night. The pools in the morning and evening were different, and we could enjoy the view of Mount Fuji and the surrounding scenery while soaking in the hot springs. It was a true luxury. Lake Ashi is peaceful and beautiful, and Lake Kawaguchi reflects Mount Fuji. When you wake up in the morning, clouds float over the top of Mount Fuji like a fairyland.

A day in Hakone

Hakone is a beautiful mountainous region located about 2 hours away from Tokyo, accessible by Shinkansen. It's known for its natural hot springs and stunning views of Mount Fuji. Start by paying a visit to Owakudani steaming thermal volcanic vents, where you can eat black eggs, which are boiled in the sulfurous waters giving the egg shells distinctive black color. The locals believe each eaten egg adds 7 years to your life span! Take a cable car down to observe the stunning Mount Fuji. You can then hop on a pirate ship to take you across lake Ashi offering views of Hakone Shrine. From there you can move onto the famous Hakone Open Air Museum, which features modern and contemporary sculptures, including an indoor Picasso pavilion and many souvenir shops. Here you can enjoy lunch with a beautiful mountainous view. Finish your day by visiting a local onsen. The water here is sulphuric with added health benefits. You will enjoy sitting in the hot water surrounded by the beautiful scenery to finish your day.

YUNESSUN is a hot spring theme park located in the famous sight-seeing area Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture. There are unique baths such as the Coffee Bath, made from real coffee beans, and the Wine Bath. Also, at the collection of Japanese style open air baths in Mori no Yu, you can take your time and enjoy the hot springs. There is an official hotel nearby as well so if you get worn-out from enjoying yourself you can quick return to your room.

LAKE ASHI (JAPAN) IS BACK!

Due to COVID, Lake Ashi was closed for some time and is now open again. This location is a must-see as it is one of the most scenic places to visit for the scenery and the onsen spa. Three thousand years ago, the vapour from an eruption of Mount Kashima's volcano created this location. The lake water originated from a spring near the lake's bottom. Hakone is one of the most popular hot spring resorts in Japan🇯🇵 Just 1.3hrs train from Tokyo city center to enjoy the high quality hot spring💆🏻They provide a free shuttle bus next to the Hakone train station to get to there. I booked the private onsen but they do public bath houses as well. 🔅Tips -Most Japanese website don’t provide Eng version, not easy to make a reservation..so I recommend call their concierge directly or ask your local hotel/hostel for a favour -Their booking slot opens in every two months in advance, mark in calendar to make the reservation -They have an express train go from Tokyo to Hakone and return directly but it is easily fully booked, I suggest to pre-purchase the train ticket online (no one told me to do that so I didn’t have any train to back Tokyo on the day I visited) (yes, it is not easy🥲) 📍Address: 4 Tonosawa, Hakone - machi, Ashigarashimo - gun, Kanagawa 250 - 0315 #onsen #tokyo #hotspring #hakone
