2025 Grimentz Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in July)

This time, I’m sharing my final thoughts and impressions about the town of Grimentz. I’ve rated it based on my own criteria, using a 5-point scale: Surrounding Tours: 4.5/5.0 Night Views: 4.0/5.0 Overall Satisfaction: 4.5/5.0 Likelihood of Revisiting: 5.0/5.0 Total Score: 4.75/5.0 First of all, there are three nearby towns—Vissoie, Anniviers, and Zinal—that are easily accessible by bus, making it convenient to tour them together with Grimentz. However, the long intervals between bus schedules were a factor I considered in my rating. As for the night views, they are beautiful, but I set Budapest as my benchmark for a perfect score, so I rated it accordingly. Overall satisfaction was very high, but transportation was the only downside, which influenced my evaluation. The gondolas are very well-maintained, there are plenty of hiking trails, and the scenery is diverse, which is why I rated the likelihood of revisiting the highest. I used Interlaken as my standard and found Grimentz to be on par with it. Of course, preferences may vary depending on individual tastes. In conclusion, I’ve rated Grimentz as one of the best travel destinations I’ve visited. It’s a place that will remain memorable for me.

This time, I visited two lakes: Lac de Moiry and Lac de Chateaupre. Getting there is convenient as you can take a single bus from Grimentz to reach the destination directly. However, one crucial thing to keep in mind is the bus schedule. The intervals between buses can vary greatly, such as 30 minutes or even 4 hours, so I strongly recommend planning your trip carefully with this in mind! I started my journey by getting off at Lac de Chateaupre, which is farther from Grimentz, and then walked to Lac de Moiry. The Moiry Lake is the one I saw from the mountain I climbed yesterday, and it turned out to be larger than I expected. It took me about two hours to walk around it. As soon as you arrive, you’ll feel like you’re in the heart of majestic nature! While the mountain hike gave me the sensation of being surrounded by grandeur, the walking trail here offers an overwhelming feeling of being right in the middle of vast and magnificent nature. The breathtaking scenery unfolding before your eyes is truly moving, and that’s my one-line review of this walking trail! There are also dedicated hiking courses for those who prefer a more challenging experience. Today, I decided to stick to the flat walking paths instead of hiking, but most people I saw were equipped with hiking gear and were actively hiking. Like me, their destination was Lac de Moiry, and walking along different paths allowed me to feel immersed in the surrounding environment. It was a serene and tranquil place where you could fully experience the sounds of water, birds, and nature itself—a truly magical spot for a walk! Continuing from the previous part, this time I’ll be writing about traveling within the town of Grimentz. As you can see from the photos, it’s a very charming and beautiful town, perfect for a leisurely stroll. Since the journey to get here was long and tiring, I decided to keep it simple and just take a walk around the town. After arriving at the accommodation, I unpacked and had a light lunch at the hotel restaurant. For reference, both the Bulle area and the Grimentz area are small towns, so most accommodations operate as hotel restaurants, combining lodging and dining services. Additionally, the sunrise is around 5:30 AM, and the sunset is around 9:30 PM, meaning the days are very long! This makes it great because you don’t have to rush through your travels. When I went out for a walk, the air was incredibly fresh, likely thanks to the surrounding mountains. There was the scent of grass, wooden chalets, and the aroma of timber from the wooden buildings, which made the experience very relaxing and enjoyable. At an altitude of 1,600 meters, the surrounding mountains are truly breathtaking! Strolling through the town, I found many paths to explore, making it delightful to wander around and discover the area. Highly recommended! And above all, the night view is stunning. I initially thought it might be too dark since it’s such a small town, but there are plenty of streetlights, making nighttime walks comfortable and enjoyable. If you go out after sunset, you can see the starry night sky as shown in the photos! Night walks are a must! Switzerland generally has excellent public safety, so I don’t think there’s any need to worry. 😊 After finishing the small-town tour with a walk, the next plan is a gondola ride and hiking.
