The iconic and spectacular MacKenzie Falls is a must do for all visitors to Grampians National Park. MacKenzie Falls is one of the largest waterfalls in Victoria. We went to the Balconies lookout point to find that access to the “Jaws of Death” had been fenced off for safety purposes. Apparently, it is called the “Jaws of Death” for a reason. Boroka is another lookout that offers the best panoramic views of the Grampians. Hiking the less popular tracks will provide beautiful views, wild life, and the silence of nature.

The town of Daylesford is really small. The theme of this trip is called Escape. Among the 45 national parks in Victoria, the national park here is the well-deserved ceiling. There are Victorian ceiling-level waterfalls, ceiling-level steep peaks⛰️, 20,000-year-old ancient human rock paintings and a variety of animals! We camped in the Grampians this time, staying in a wild campsite for 1 night, a youth hostel for 1 night, and a comfortable paid campsite for 1 night. The experiences were all great. Because there was no electricity in the wild camp, we set up tents in the camp first after arriving, and then drove to Eagle Rock! The Australian continent is really very flat. Watching the sun set from the distant mountains, there was nothing blocking the way! At night, we looked at the stars in our wild camp. There were so many stars that we couldn’t capture them all with our cell phones. The Milky Way was also clearly visible! But the wild camp was really wild. Kangaroos passed by us at night, and we could clearly feel the ground hopping, which was the sound of the kangaroos jumping!

Foggy Boroka Lookout Imagine taking a 3h drive from the city of Melbourne to Grampian National Park, only to be greeted with gloomy skies, heavy fog and no views. We had a full day trip planned out for the Grampians and unfortunately for us, the weather was not looking good (scroll to the last photo to see the views that greeted us when we arrived in the morning) Thankfully, just after midday, the skies gave us a window of opportunity to get a glimpse of what this national park had to offer. The threat from the low hanging clouds always lurked but we were just content that it had finally stopped drizzling. The day ended with a beautiful sunset at The Balcony, where the rays of the sun baked the landscape to a beautiful golden hue.
