If you want to experience the magnificent nature of Glacier National Park but have never hiked before, the East Side of the park is a great choice! With stunning mountain views, crystal clear lakes, and the chance to see wildlife up close (but safe if you are well prepared!) Hello everyone, today we will share hiking tips for beginners and recommend some great trails that you should not miss! 🍃 Why Glacier National Park? Spectacular nature: Every step you take in the park, you will see stunning mountain views, beautiful blue lakes, and crystal clear water that makes you feel like you have entered a fairytale world! Chance of encountering wildlife: Do you want to see bears, mountain goats, moose, or deer? Glacier National Park has many types of wildlife that can be seen while hiking or even while walking to the bathroom! 🦌
🍃 Tips for beginner hikers 1️⃣ Choose the right trail: If you are a beginner, we recommend a trail that is not too difficult for the first time, such as Hidden Lake Trail or St. Mary Falls Trail that are not too long and have great views. 2️⃣ Hiking shoes are important: Choose shoes that are comfortable and durable, can be walked for a long time, and can support swollen feet from walking for a long time. Waterproof shoes would be great. 3️⃣ Layer clothing: The weather in the park can change very quickly. Sometimes there are 3 seasons in 1 day. So be prepared by choosing clothes that can adjust to the temperature. Bring a hat and sunglasses. 4️⃣ Water and snacks: Don't forget to bring water! Hiking will make us very tired and thirsty. It is recommended to bring snacks to fight hunger! 💦🍫 (energy bars, chocolate, candy) 5️⃣ Maps and preparation: Look at the maps and routes carefully. Before hiking, you need to know which trails are there and how long they will be. It is recommended to use an app called AllTrails to see details of the trails you will be walking and download maps to view offline. 6️⃣ Keep your voices down: To protect against wild animals, especially bears. Most importantly, bring bear spray! 7️⃣ Don't keep this to yourself: What this means is that you should inform your friends or park officers before going hiking. In case of emergency, help will be provided in time.
🍃 Things to watch out for when hiking Wildlife: Bears and other wildlife may be encountered along the way. Don't forget to carry bear spray and know how to protect yourself! Weather changes: The weather in Glacier can change very quickly. Always check the weather forecast before hiking! Hiking: For beginners, it is not recommended to walk off the trails at all. If you are not familiar with the path, it may be dangerous and you may get lost! (If a ranger comes across you, it will be bad luck.)
Always remember to "Take only photos, leave only footprints" and have fun and safe hiking. 🤍🥾
