Do not come to Changbai Mountain in March, because it's really too much of a bargain! March is the off-season, and a round-trip flight is just over a thousand yuan. The key is that it's not particularly cold in March, and there's still snow! 1️⃣ For our trip to see the Heavenly Lake, we went to the north slope, which costs 305 yuan (including the bus ticket). If you want to enjoy the whole experience, it probably takes about 5-6 hours. We stayed at the Quanji Hotel in Erdaobaihe Town. The view from the north slope is not as good as from the west slope; it's a bit obstructed, but the accommodation and everything are cheaper and more convenient on the north slope. 2️⃣ In Erdaobaihe Town, you can go to the Edelweiss Reindeer Park, where you can feed reindeer for just 30 yuan! There are also many beautiful spots for taking photos. We went rafting on the Daquan River, which is quite gentle. The weather was also good that day. Although there was no rime ice, it felt very free and relaxing. 3️⃣ On the third day, we went to the west slope and stayed at the Wanda Hotel, which includes 2 ski passes and hot spring tickets, super cost-effective! You must try the outdoor hot springs; they're super nice! Skiing is also great. I was lucky enough to photograph Changbai Mountain on the day I went. You must take the cable car to the top to see the scenery; it's really different. NeYin Ancient Town (讷殷古城 nèyīn gǔchéng) is just so different than all the other ancient towns I’ve seen in China. The gate is decorated with bull’s skulls and the houses inside actually look modern (and it seems like you can book those houses to stay overnight!). Upon entering the area, you’d be greeted by a line-up of important figures of the area. Many involved in the area-dispute with Pyongyang, and others are Manchurian VIPs or the indigenous people. The Tree-God (that tall tree wrapped with red ribbons and God of Changbaishan (riding a tiger) are looking so mighty. The snowy path and are beautiful. Definitely worth visiting during your stay at Changbaishan! ————————— Getting There - take Taxi and ask them to wait for you (hard to call for other taxi from this place). We spent 1.5hrs there, roundtrip to Sheraton hotel (around 20mins ride one-way), paid ¥120. Attractions - ancient town. Good for some walk and photo-taking. Tickets - it was free when we visited. Hotels - Closer from Wanda Ski Resort’s area hotels. It would take more than 2hours from North Slope (Crowne Plaza), or stay inside this ancient town! Food & Restaurants - none that we saw. But also there was no other tourists when we visited. I have never felt soo refreshing in till I came here . the hotel is location is great and easy to get there . the staffs are very welcoming and helpful. the meal : they have variety of both Chinese and western meals so you need not to worry about what to eat . in addition, their breakfast is marvellous .. mostly the staffs: from the front desk to the kitchen are very welcoming and polite . i will say if you want to be treated as a little king or queen just chipby haha ! cheers 🥂
