#WesternJapan Miyajidake Shrine in Fukutsu City, Fukuoka Prefecture ⛩ I went there for the Iris Festival. The irises were in full bloom in the shrine grounds, and the iris garden was magnificent. The owls are always soothing. Japan's largest shimenawa rope is always big! This is my favorite shrine, and I'm always soothed by the seasonal flowers.

One-Day Itinerary: A day trip around Fukuoka, from Hakata Station to Miyajidake Shrine, with a detour to Fukuma Beach before returning. On my second trip to Kyushu, I still found Fukuoka's hustle and bustle a bit overwhelming, but I unexpectedly discovered a hidden gem for a one-day trip around the area. A solid 4-star experience! 1. From Hakata Station to Fukuma Station: P13. Head to the JR platform at Hakata Station and take the Kagoshima Main Line. It’s a 30-minute ride to Fukuma Station, and the JR Pass is valid! 2. From Fukuma Station to Miyajidake Shrine: There’s a bus right at the bottom of the station escalator, or you can take a taxi. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes and runs once an hour. Grab a boarding ticket when you get on and pay when you get off. The road is very sunny with no shade, so walking (about 30 minutes) is not recommended. 3. Exploring the Shrine: From the shrine’s hilltop, you can see a straight road leading to the azure coastline, offering an incredible view. Inside the shrine, you can draw fortunes and buy souvenirs. The back hill features a small version of Kyoto’s Fushimi Inari Shrine’s famous thousand torii gates ⛩️. 4. Returning to Fukuma Station: There’s no bus from the restaurant area back to the station, so you’ll need to call a taxi. We strolled back to the station in about 30 minutes, but walking in the summer heat is not recommended—it’s scorching! 🔥 Summary: Overall, if you have a day to spare after shopping in Fukuoka, I highly recommend visiting this spot. Personally, I think it’s more worthwhile than some of the city’s attractions. It was the perfect way to wrap up my second trip to Kyushu. I’d give it 4 stars 🌟, on par with Sakurajima!

As the sun climbed higher, its light intertwined with the cherry blossoms, illuminating the petals to near transparency and painting a dappled masterpiece on the ground. Here, there was no bustling crowd—just me, the endless cherry blossoms, and the vibrant morning sun. I wandered through the scene, capturing every falling petal with my camera and savoring the gentle caress of the spring breeze. In the distance, the traditional palace surrounded by flowering trees resembled a timeless oil painting, with its red tiles and wooden walls perfectly complementing the pink and white cherry blossoms. The essence of solo travel might lie in moments like these—exchanging secrets with spring in a world of my own, participating in a private opening ceremony of the season. I cherished every moment of tranquility, free from the need to match anyone else's pace, following only the direction of my heart. At Omori Shrine in Fukuoka, I embraced the purest spring and rediscovered my liberated self. Every falling petal and every warm ray of sunlight became an unforgettable memory of this journey.

At the break of dawn, we step into the Miyajidake Shrine in Fukuoka. The ancient trees create a dense forest, and the birds' chirping blends with the murmuring streams to form a haunting melody. In the afternoon, we head to the serene Nanzoin Temple in Kido. The ancient temple is as picturesque as a painting. The golden pavilion with its green tiles contrasts beautifully with the surrounding trees.
