Lovely Village on Loch Ness 🏴
#wecreate
The Fort Augustus is a little and safe village on the southern end of Loch Ness. It is worth an hour to two hours of your time to walk around and take photos. If you are keen then there are boats that are available for you to cruise around the lake.
We love the overall atmosphere of this beautiful town with a bagpiper playing that can be heard from afar. There are also shops to buy souviners from, restaurants and inns if you ever want to stay here for a night or two.
The drive between Loch Ness and Fort Augustus is stunning. If you are driving from Inverness then it will take you an hour to get to this pretty village

Fort Augustus - Scotland, UK
Fort Augustus is a picturesque village in the Scottish Highlands, in the heart of the Great Glen. Located on the southernmost tip of Loch Ness, this village offers a stunning setting surrounded by mountains and lakes.
In the 18th century, it was used as a military base during the Jacobite uprisings. Today the fort no longer stands, but remnants of it can still be seen.
Fort Augustus is famous for its canal locks, which connect the Caledonian Canal with Loch Ness. You can witness the spectacle of baits navigating through the series of locks, creating a captivating sight.
There’s also a museum about “Nessie”, famously known as the Loch Ness Monster, which I think is a must-visit if you’re there!
Usually a day-trip to Glenfinnan Viaduct will bring you to this village. But if you’re planning a road trip, it’s approximately 40 miles (64km) from Inverness. There are also bus services from Inverness to bring you to Fort Augustus.

Scottish Highland cattle
Scottish Highland cattle. Does anyone know how it is called. Anyway it is so cute and lovely 😍
Fort Augustus, located at the southern tip of Loch Ness, is a small town with a population of just over 600. Although the town is small, it is picturesque, and the Golden Lion Canal in the center of the town and the chic bars and hotels along the river are quite interesting. The ship lock here is the shrinking version of the Three Gorges Dam lock. The ship enters the ship lock from the upstream and passes through several stages of transition to drive into Loch Ness. Many tables and chairs in the bar are placed next to the Golden Lion Canal lock. You can buy a famous British dark dish, FISH & CHIP, fish and chips, and enjoy the boat locks and passing ships while eating.
