Fire Services Museum of Victoria 🔥✨
I had a great morning at the old Eastern Hill Fire Station, it's like a time capsule, and it totally fascinated me. 🫶🏻
The station has a few activities too. You can put on some old uniforms, there's a giftshop, interactive displays about the history of fire fighting in Melbourne etc. 👀
I learned things I did not know before. It’s such an extensive collection of memorabilia there are a number of items not kept on site as there is no room for everything! All the displays are diligently labelled and volunteer staff happy to chat and explain anything further. 🥰
Will take around 45 minutes to see and read everything. Had a great time here, really recommended 👍🏻✨

St. Patrick’s Cathedral: Melbourne’s Majestic Gothic Masterpiece
#australiatrip
Nestled in the heart of Melbourne, St. Patrick’s Cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic Revival architecture and one of the city's most iconic landmarks. As the largest cathedral in Australia, it is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of Melbourne's rich history and cultural heritage.
Completed in 1939, the cathedral’s design is a marvel of craftsmanship, with its soaring spires, intricate stained glass windows, and beautifully carved stone details. The imposing exterior is matched by the peaceful serenity inside, where visitors can admire the vast, open nave and the delicate beauty of its stained glass, which depicts scenes from the Bible and Australian history.
A visit to St. Patrick’s Cathedral offers a chance to step back in time and appreciate the immense effort that went into constructing this magnificent building. The interior features stunning marble floors, elegant arches, and statues of saints that add to the cathedral's spiritual ambiance.
Don’t miss the opportunity to light a candle and take a moment of reflection, or simply marvel at the impressive high altar, a focal point of the cathedral. The peaceful surroundings provide an ideal setting for quiet contemplation amidst the hustle and bustle of Melbourne’s busy streets.
St. Patrick’s Cathedral is not just an architectural gem; it is also an important cultural and religious center in Melbourne. Visitors are welcome to attend mass, participate in religious events, or simply enjoy the grandeur of this historic building.
Whether you're drawn to its beauty, history, or spiritual significance, St. Patrick’s Cathedral is an unforgettable experience and a must-see for anyone visiting Melbourne.

St. Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne ❤🥰🌹
#australiatrip
Can you also feel that Gothic architecture is cool in Australia?? This is St. Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne, which was officially opened as a Catholic church in 1897. Although this may not have the same long history as some European cathedrals, it is still a landmark with significant historical value in Melbourne, and the towering tower makes it known as the largest church in the southern hemisphere. The architectural style of this church is the Gothic style mentioned in the title. As a traveler, as soon as I approach the range of the church, I feel like I have traveled from downtown Melbourne to Europe in the last century

Explore Gothic Architecture in Australia | St. Patrick's Cathedral.
| St. Patrick's Cathedral.
🌈Gothic Cathedral in Melbourne
St. Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne is a Catholic church that officially opened in 1897. Although its history is not as long as some of the ancient cathedrals in Europe, it is one of Melbourne's landmarks and is known for having the tallest church spire in the Southern Hemisphere. The church's architecture is Gothic, making you feel like you've traveled back to medieval Europe.
🌈The Unique Charm of Gothic Architecture
Gothic architecture is an art style that was popular in Europe from the 13th to 15th centuries, known for its dark and elegant characteristics. Gothic architecture is often associated with mysterious themes such as vampires and noble aristocrats. The black and gold color scheme of St. Patrick's Cathedral gives it a mysterious vampire castle vibe, and even when surrounded by the blue skies, white clouds, and green plants of a modern city, its unique Gothic style is still hard to miss.
❤My Visit Experience
Although ancient architecture can be seen everywhere on the streets of Melbourne, St. Patrick's Cathedral stands out from afar with its height and shape. Once you enter the church grounds, it's like stepping into a quiet park. The church is open to visitors at specific times, but photography is usually not allowed inside, which made me respect its solemn atmosphere as a religious sanctuary.
📚The Unique Feeling of Traveling Alone
I visited the church alone that day, and as someone who is fascinated by this type of architecture, I stayed there for over an hour. On one hand, I was waiting for the right light to take satisfactory photos, and on the other hand, I was reluctant to leave because of the church's tranquility and harmony. The freedom of traveling alone allowed me to enjoy this peace without worrying about others' time, and it became a precious memory of my trip.

For meat lovers
A nice place with lots of options for meat lovers. The steak is cooked beautifully medium and seasoned well. Although I wish I had known the portion isn’t very big and upsized my order. They also offer a few selections of beer and wine.
The burger is also a very safe choice for the less adventurous. I enjoyed the meal so much I returned the next day to try the Reuben and it was perfect. Not too dense, wonderfully seasoned and the bread was toasted to perfection.
Also had the octopus & Chinese sausage skewer—not as tender as expected. Their cheeseburger was simply amazing; flavourful tender juicy patty, super crispy bacon, generous condiments. The fries and fried chicken were ok, not as spectacular as the cheeseburger.

The Route 35 tram in downtown Melbourne
The Route 35 tram circles the most central area of downtown Melbourne, offering free rides to citizens and tourists. There are stops at all the important sights and landmark buildings, making it convenient for passengers to get on and off.
The hotel we stayed at was not far from a stop, and it was very convenient to take the tram for a spin.
Along the way, there were several open parks of various sizes, with lush trees and green lawns. The little house with a TV station doing a program, known as 'Captain Cook's Cottage', is presumably one of the captains of the first few British ships that came to the Australian continent.
In the center of the park, there is a small old building, an indoor garden, where the flowers bloom large and bright.
Taking the Route 35 tram, we visited the State Library of Melbourne in the city center. It's also a place worth seeing. After visiting the library, we had coffee at the café by Door 2, took a short rest, and even took a photo with the friendly waiter.
Wandering around the library area was quite interesting too.

Treasury Gardens
#melbournetrip
Beautiful park right next to the CBD with a very calming and serene centrepiece where fountains provide some recluse from the city traffic and the memorials are beautifully paved and landscaped with plenty of seating around. Well maintained with massive mature trees placed both randomly around the gardens for shading, but also elegantly in rows alongside walking paths. You can walk loops around on flat paved roads for a quick lunch time exercise too if you wish. Parking available around the gardens. Public toilets available were decent too. Has more than one working water fountains.

Victorian Artists Society
#melbournetrip Excellent art exhibitions and openings. The range and quality of the art is compelling and they showcase paintings and drawings of a fairly wide variety of media and genres, including digital graphics, as well as sculptures and occasional installations. An inclusive and diverse atmosphere, this society has evolved over time and kept pace with technology. The team here have done a great job fundraising and Richard has taken up leadership with an excellent predecessor in Eileen. The heritage-listed gallery has in recent years undergone intensive restoration and upgrade with thanks to private, as well as public, funding. Staying true to the historical significance of the building whilst modernising it to greatly improve the amenities, it now includes a lift for greater access, mobility and inclusion of more diverse visitors. Dame Nellie Melba taught students singing here and oft stood on the balcony to perform to crowds who gathered on the footpath below. It is a pleasure to be part of this community and enjoy the works of both local and international artists, of which we can't help but be immensely proud of. The real sweetener at this gallery is no entry fee but becoming a member has its rewards not the least of which is being part of this community. Or you can donate to support the importance of art as a healing activity.

Cooks Cottage
#melbournetrip Cooks Cottage is a great part of history and is the actual brick home of British navigator and explorer Captain James cook’s parents. Built in 1755 this cottage was originally built in Great Ayton in Yorkshire, England. It was brought to Melbourne in 1934 brick by brick and reconstructed here. Definitely worth checking out how they lived in England around 1750’s and don’t forget to check the Stable at the back of the cottage for more information about Cook’s voyages and about him & his family.

Australia's oldest building
#melbournetrip
Cooks Cottage is in the picturesque Fitzroy Gardens, walking distance from the centre of Melbourne.
The cottage is a modest structure, but it is said to be the oldest intact building in Australia, even though it is from North Yorkshire.
This quaint cottage is not a mansion, but most visitors agree that the cottage, with its garden and period furniture, is well worth a visit.

Iconic Stadium In Melbourne
#melbournetrip
The guided tour of the MCG and the museum is a must while you are in Melbourne. The tour takes around an hour and you get to see most of the interesting parts of the ground - players box, media boxes, long room etc.
Lots of history and the guides are very knowledgeable. The museum is more of a kids activity centre with some exhibits.
MSG is brilliant stadium that has been host to Olympic and commonwealth games as well as large scale concerts and the best arena for AFL.It also host some soccer game when big clubs from premier leagues visit for pre season friendly.
Well signed, adequate transport options available and accessible friendly.
Would recommend the tour for $33.
