Tickets + boat tickets cost more than 190 yuan, with discounts for locals and children at 125 yuan. You take a boat from the pier into the lake, visiting three islands in total. First, go to the farthest Shuiyue Bay, then to the middle Longfeng Island, and finally to the other end of the visitor center, Jinghuayuan. The last stop can be skipped by taking the boat directly back, or you can disembark to tour the island and take an electric car back (10 yuan per person), or walk 3 kilometers back to the visitor center. You can still walk after touring around.
Things to note:
1. Be sure to bring enough water. It's too hot, and one bottle per person is probably not enough. There are small shops on the island.
2. There are two afternoon boats, one at two o'clock and one at three o'clock. I took the two o'clock boat and was lucky to get the only one with air conditioning, 099. The others don't have air conditioning, but it doesn't make much difference as it's very hot. There are no boats after three o'clock because it takes about three to four hours to tour around.
3. The weather is hot, so make sure to do enough sun protection. You have to walk a lot on the island.

Tickets: There are land tours and lake tours, with varying prices. You can book online or buy tickets at the tourist center.
During winter, the sunset is early, so in the afternoon, there are only two boat departure times: two o'clock and three o'clock. Make sure to go early, as the two o'clock boat goes to one more bay called Shuiyue Bay. Unfortunately, I arrived late and only caught the three o'clock boat, which due to time constraints only went to Longfeng Island. Longfeng Island is in its maple leaf season, and it's very beautiful.
Jinghua Yuan is the last stop of the tour. If you disembark and visit the island, you'll have to walk for half an hour or pay 10 yuan for an electric cart to the exit. If you're not visiting the island, you can take the next boat back to the exit.
In front of the tourist service center, there is a Wanlv Lake Style Street, where most of the shops were closed. Further inside, there is a Hakka Style Museum, similar to a small museum, with explanations inside. It's quite nice and worth visiting before the boat departs.

I have been to Wanlu Lake in Heyuan, Guangdong several times. This time I finally had time to visit in depth. I explored this charming landscape from all angles and discovered its different beauty.
Wanlu Lake is located in the west of Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. It is the largest lake in South China. It was also called "Xinfengjiang Reservoir" in the past. Due to the construction of Xinfengjiang Hydropower Station in 1958, a large river dam was built in the Yapo Mountain Canyon on the lower reaches of Xinfengjiang River. The dam is formed by storing water.
The green mountains and waters of Wanlu Lake blend together, and the lakes and mountains complement each other, showing a fresh and natural mountain and lake scenery. The scenery is pleasing to the eye and refreshing.
The water surface of Wanlv Lake is very wide, the ecological environment of the lake area is excellent, and it is full of greenery everywhere, so it is named "Wanlv Lake". As the largest eco-tourism attraction in South China, Wanlu Lake can be called the "Back Garden of the Pearl River Delta". It is not only a famous tourist attraction in Heyuan, but also an important source of drinking water in Guangdong. As the largest reservoir in South China, Wanlu Lake is said to have a water storage capacity of 14 billion cubic meters at its highest water level. Wanlu Lake is pure and pollution-free, with excellent water quality, clear and pure, reaching the national first-class surface water standard. The deep lake water can be drank directly, and many drinking water on the market are obtained from here. Wanlu Lake also supplies Shenzhen and Hong Kong through the Dongshen Water Supply Project, and is the main source of drinking water for Hong Kong.
The best way to visit Wanlu Lake is naturally to take an island hopping tour by boat. The scenic spot has launched 2 routes. We chose tour route 1, boarded the boat from Wanlu Lake Tourist Pier, and visited Shuiyue Bay, Longfeng Island, and Jinghua in sequence. Yuan and Hakka Customs Museum, experience the different scenery of lakes, mountains and folk customs.
Heyuan Sujiawei Scenic Area
The entrance fee for Sujiawei Scenic Area is 25 yuan. It takes about an hour to get there from the city center. It is the place where the descendants of Su Shi live and reside. Currently, it is a situation where they only charge fees without management.
After paying and entering, you feel a huge loss, isn't this just like my old family house from decades ago?
If you don't pay and enter, it feels quite good, as if you've traveled back in time.
ps: If you want to go, you can directly bypass the main gate of the scenic area, continue straight along the road for a few hundred meters, and there is a sign next to a fork in the road that says 'Tourists Mistakenly Enter'. Just go straight in there; it's the village where the villagers live. You can wander around and even make your way into the scenic area without a ticket. Don't like this post, I'm afraid of being censored!

For Labor Day, Guangdong welcomed continuous rain, so I chose the off-the-beaten-path Wanlv Lake for a reverse tourism experience. There's no other reason but the vastness of the lake, always hiding some ecologically pristine spots, and after navigating around the lake, I finally settled on Xichang Town. The lake in the scenic area is opposite
—It takes a little over 2 hours to get there from Shenzhen, with the last hour on rural roads that are great for mountain biking enthusiasts (be mindful of minor landslides during the rainy season)
—Upon reaching Xichang Town, don't expect any shops, restaurants, or any form of commerce
—Scattered nearby are some homestays and farm stays, ranging from simple to luxurious. I chose the one in the picture online for its nice living environment. The road there was winding and seemed run-down, but it turned out to be a hidden gem of a homestay.
—To put it simply, it opened last year, the furniture is solid wood and feels quality, and the rooms are clean—there's a 6kw charging pile (the only one), just enough to feed my 007
—Both breakfast and dinner are great (made by the owner's family), remember to tell the owner in advance to prepare ingredients, otherwise, you'll realize that finding a place to eat nearby is a problem
—Plenty of entertainment activities (standard for local homestays), such as paddleboarding, bamboo rafting, bamboo shoot digging, fishing, etc., and there's no shortage of fun when the weather is good. The fees are all similar
Planning a two-day, one-night trip to Wanlv Lake, the tranquility of the first day was satisfying, and now I'm off to today's tourist journey—Wanlv Lake Scenic Area (by the way, it takes 2 hours of mountain driving to get to Wanlv Lake Scenic Area, a treat for car enthusiasts, both sedans and SUVs can handle it, just remember to be safe.
